Texas Football Recruiting: Evan Stewart names Longhorns in top 13

Four-star WR Evan Stewart announced his top 13 schools on Wednesday. Three other Big 12 schools made the cut, along with top SEC programs.

Wide receiver Evan Stewart announced his top 13 schools on Wednesday night. Texas made the cut along with Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Texas A&M, and USC.

The four-star prospect comes out of Frisco, Texas. Ranked the No. 40 player nationally per the 247Sports composite, Stewart is the No. 5 wide receiver and the No. 8 overall prospect in the state. Stewart’s ability to play inside or outside plus his track level speed is what makes him one of the most sought-after players in the country.

With Steve Sarkisian taking over, Stewart is going to be a crucial piece in Texas’ 2022 class. When five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers was committed to the Longhorns, landing the wide receiver seemed inevitable. Now, there is work for Sarkisian and his staff to do.

According to 247Sports Jay Valai is one of the main recruiters for Stewart on Texas’ side. For Alabama, Holmon Wiggins has been working on the wide receiver, someone Sarkisian is expected to bring over to his staff in Austin per Football Scoop.

After seeing the 2022 class beginning to collapse from under them, Steve Sarkisian has slowly begun to reignite Texas’ chances with top prospects. Stewart will be one of, if not the top target for the Longhorns going forward.
