Lamar Jackson-Zay Flowers land high on a list of best QB-WR duos in the NFL

Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers make Dan Orlovsky’s list of best QB-WR duos in NFL

The days of pundits and critics using Lamar Jackson as a talking point for his alleged inability to be an elite passer are over, and rightfully so. Entering Week 7 of the NFL season, Jackson has been one of the most efficient and accurate quarterbacks in the NFL.

Baltimore has the most explosive offense in the NFL, and there can be some debate about whether you want to deal with Derrick Henry as a rusher or Jackson as a pin-point accurate passer.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky and Harry Douglas revealed their top QB-WR duos in the NFL on Thursday morning, and the Ravens made the list with Jackson and star second-year receiver Zay Flowers making the list.

In six games played, Jackson is 118-176 passing (67%) for 1,529 yards (8.7 avg) and an average of 254.8 yards a game, with ten touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 108.4 rating.

Flowers had a solid rookie season and is breaking out in Year Two with back-to-back explosive games. Flowers has 33 catches on 48 targets for 401 yards (12.2 avg), one touchdown, 66.8 yards per game, and 211 yards after the catch.

Desmond Howard answers what a win over Texas A&M would mean for Notre Dame

It’s an odd day when we agree with Howard

Although there is a built-in dislike for former Michigan player turned college football analyst [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], he finally has a rationale take on Notre Dame football.

When asked on ESPN’s show Get Up, he agreed with Mike Greenberg’s assessment that if the Irish defeat Texas A&M this weekend, that you can “write them in ink in the College Football Playoff.”

Howard mentions that Florida State might not be as much of a game, while Georgia Tech is trending up. There is no mention of the finale against USC, and like others before him, the fact that Notre Dame doesn’t have to play in a conference title game is an advantage.

It’s not often that anyone in Irish Nation agrees with Howard, but today is one of those days.

Commanders QB receiving some love from ESPN’s ‘Get Up’

One former NFL player believes Jayden Daniels will have a better rookie season than Caleb Williams.

Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels received some moral support this week on ESPN’s “Get Up.”

The subject matter was NFL quarterbacks when Anthony “Booger” McFarland, an NFL veteran of eight seasons with the Buccaneers and one with the Colts, interjected his strong opinion.

“Don’t be surprised if midway through the season, we’re having a conversation that is very similar to what he had last year. Meaning, the number two pick, Jayden Daniels, looks better than the number one pick, Caleb Williams.”

“Just like last year with C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young. There are a lot of people out of Washington telling me this young man Jayden Daniels, not only does he look the part, but his teammates know he looks the part. Caleb Williams will struggle and I think Jayden Daniels will come out of the gate flying.”

“We’ll have this conversation, Greeny, mark it down, July 16 (whatever day this is). We are going to have this conversation again.”

McFarland was referring, first of all, to history. Indeed, the Carolina Panthers chose Bryce Young (Alabama) first, while the Houston Texans selected C.J. Stroud (Ohio State) second.

Stroud had a very good rookie season, while Young struggled. Consequently, by season’s end, it was unanimous across NFL circles that Stroud, not Young, had the better season.

Secondly, McFarland did not depend on logic or reports from either the Bears camp or the Commanders. His main ingredient was hope.

You see, those who may not be old enough to recall him in college, McFarland was a fine defensive tackle for the LSU Tigers before being drafted by the Buccaneers.

Commanders Wire would certainly love to see Daniels have a much better season than Williams. However, we also recognize that McFarland is simply looking out for his fellow LSU Tiger, and his bias is coming through loudly and clearly.

But we still hope he is correct about Daniels.

Watch: Ryan Clark is not buying the Cowboys winning NFC East over the Eagles

Ryan Clark is not buying the Cowboys winning NFC East over the Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys have been crowned the beast of the NFC East every offseason and the hype for 2020 is growing after Oklahoma All-American wide receiver CeeDee Lamb fell to their laps.

They landed Trevon Diggs as well, re-signed Amari Cooper, and landed one of the NFL’s top head coaches in Mike McCarthy.

With the hype comes growing expectations and as the 2019 season showed in great detail, perception isn’t always the reality for the Cowboys. Dallas is now favored to win the NFC East and their Super Bowl odds have raised as well.

ESPN NFL analyst and former Steelers safety Ryan Clark isn’t buying the hype this time around, telling Mike Greenberg and the ‘Get Up’ crew, that he’s not buying the hype this season as well.

The Cowboys have one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, running backs and receiving corps with the addition of Lamb, but the question arises on the defensive side of the ball, where Byron Jones has taken his talents to Miami.
