Eric LeGrand makes a Rutgers basketball bet with Barstool Sports’ ‘Frank The Tank’

Rutgers legend Eric LeGrand made a bet with ‘Frank The Tank’ for Rutgers basketball to defeat their instate rival the Seton Hall Pirates.

This week, Rutgers football Eric LeGrand joined Frank Fleming, also known as ‘Frank the Tank’ from Barstool Sports, on one of his famous Frank Walks around SHI Stadium.

Celebrities and inspirational people have joined Frank on these walks as LeGrand represented the Scarlet Knights. Fleming, an icon of Barstool Sports, chatted with LeGrand as they strolled throughout the stadium.

During their walk, LeGrand made a bet with Fleming, previewing the instate showdown against Rutgers basketball and Seton Hall this upcoming season. Last season, the Scarlet Knights defeated Fleming’s Pirates 70-63 and ‘Frank The Tank’ is looking for revenge.

LeGrand bet that if the Scarlet Knights defeat the Pirates, Fleming needs to dress up in all Rutgers gear, and if Seton Hall wins, LeGrand has to dress in Pirates apparel while advertising his coffee brand.

On October 16, 2010, Eric LeGrand’s life changed forever. While covering a kickoff for Rutgers, LeGrand suffered a severe spinal cord injury. The collision left LeGrand paralyzed from the neck down.

Erasing his mind from all the negativity, LeGrand accepted the challenge and continued to fight back. Over the years, LeGrand has been a sign of hope and an inspirational leader for Rutgers football, as his No. 52 hangs over SHI Stadium.

LeGrand continues to show signs of recovery as he helps raise money for spinal injury research with his coffee and whisky brands.

Frank Fleming, better known as ‘Frank the Tank‘ from Barstool Sports fame, has featured former Rutgers football star [autotag]Eric LeGrand[/autotag] in one of his videos.

LeGrand was recently a part of ‘Frank Walks‘ where Fleming ‘Frank the Tank’ goes out for a stroll with sports legends. Fleming has had notable walks with former NFL quarterback [autotag]Boomer Esiason[/autotag] and Mike Francesa along with others. And now he goes to Rutgers to talk with LeGrand.

As for LeGrand, he is certainly quite the legend. Fleming takes a deep dive into LeGrand’s life as they walk around SHI Stadium, a place that continues to be meaningful to the former Rutgers defensive tackle.

Currently, LeGrand is an entrepreneur with several business ventures including LeGrand Coffee. He also is part of the radio broadcast team for Rutgers football games.

Oh, and he happens to hang out with Snoop Dog from time to time.

LeGrand is also the driving force behind ‘A Walk to Believe‘ as they look to raise funds to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Fleming ‘Frank the Tank’ is a highly popular part of the Barstool family and is known for his passionate outbursts, especially when it comes to his New York Mets. He would certainly fit right in as a Rutgers fan.

What fun can be expected this Saturday at the Rutgers football spring game?

Rutgers football is set to host the annual spring game.

The much anticipated Rutgers football spring game is this Saturday, with the Scarlet Knights looking to build on what was a very solid 2023 season.

For Rutgers football fans eager for the 2024 season to start, this game marks that football season is getting closer. But it is also an important developmental moment for many of the younger players on the roster.

While the on-field action starts at 3 p.m there will be plenty of pre-game festivities. Starting a hour before the game fans will have the opportunity to enjoy free games and rides, including the Ferris wheel at SHI Stadium. The Marching Scarlet Knights and Rutgers Spirit Team will also be in attendance.

However, the fun doesn’t stop there. Halftime is set to feature the annual team spring awards and a punt-catching contest with Rutgers celebrities. Between the third and fourth quarters, Rutgers Hall of Famer [autotag]Eric LeGrand[/autotag] will make a big announcement.

Final scrimmage in the books.

As Rutgers prepares for the 2024 campaign, it will be looking to build on its success. Rutgers ended last season with a 31-24 victory over Miami to capture the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl championship. It also recorded the program’s first winning season since 2014.

With a roster full of familiar faces, repeating last season’s success is possible. The Scarlet Knights will start that journey on Saturday.

Former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand wins the internet with his New Jersey earthquake tweet

Eric LeGrand tweets about the New Jersey earthquake that happened on Friday.

Eric LeGrand was just saying what we were thinking on Friday night, adding some much-needed levity to a strange day in New Jersey. An earthquake on Friday morning was followed up by an aftershock hours later, creating a very surreal day for inhabitants of the tristate area.

The earthquake rattled New Jersey on Friday at 10:23 A.m. ET. The strong tremors were felt throughout the state with the 4.8 magnitude earthquake having originated in the vicinity of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Later on Friday at 5:59 p,m. ET, another smaller earthquake of 3.7 magnitude was registered.

The earthquake, an unusual occurrence in New Jersey, was all the talk throughout the area on Friday. It was the most powerful earthquake felt in some parts of New Jersey in over two centuries.

And it led LeGrand, a former Rutgers football player, to crack a joke about the seismic cause for Friday’s earthquakes in New Jersey. Well, we’re assuming it is a joke.

LeGrand, now a radio analyst on Rutgers football broadcasts, is also an entrepreneur. He owns LeGrand Coffee House, based in Woodbridge Township.

Although with the price of gas at the pumps today, LeGrand might want to figure out a way to…ahh…nevermind.

Remembering when Eric LeGrand was on the cover of Sports Illustrated

Rutgers football star Eric LeGrand’s Sports Illustrated cover is remembered.

On the day when it appears that, for the time being at least, that Sports Illustrated is going to cease operations, it is fitting to remember when a Rutgers legend made the cover.

The iconic magazine appears to perhaps be no more, given the news on Friday that much (if not all) the newsroom had been let go.

Eric LeGrand is the last Rutgers football player to make the cover of the magazine. His return to the field and High Point Solutions Stadium (now SHI Stadium) was the cover for the ‘Best Moments of 2011’ issue.

LeGrand led the team out on the field for their game against West Virginia.

The year prior to making the cover, LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury in a game against Army at MetLife Stadium.

The cover shot was nearly a year after the injury.

Jason Baum, who posted the cover moment on Friday via X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), was the sports information for Rutgers at the time. He is now the chief communications officer for Tennessee athletics.

LeGrand, however, was not the last Rutgers alum to make the cover of Sports Illustrated. In 2019, United States women’s national team midfielder Carli Lloyd, a former Rutgers standout, appeared on the cover following the winning of the World Cup.

Lloud was the captain of the team and enjoyed a stellar tournament.

For Eric LeGrand, Greg Schiano’s new contract is deserved: ‘The program is on the rise’

Eric LeGrand endorses the new contract for Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano.

The players who lined up for Rutgers football during Greg Schiano’s first tenure with the program see some similarities between the program’s first rebuild and what is currently happening with the Big Ten team. Count Eric LeGrand among those who are pleased with the news this week that Schiano isn’t going anywhere and will be at Rutgers long-term.

On Wednesday, it became official that Schiano is sticking with the program, the Rutgers football head coach signing a contract extension through 2030. With the contract comes stability for Rutgers as the program continues its steady rise through the Big Ten.

LeGrand, a former player for Schiano who is now a broadcaster on the Rutgers Radio Network, sees the contract extension as well-timed and another part of the program’s rebuild.

“I thought it was awesome and well-deserved,” LeGrand told Rutgers Wire.

“I know how good of a coach he is and the program is on the rise so he deserves it all.”

Schiano coached a team that was picked by many experts to be among the bottom of the Big Ten to a 6-6 record and three wins in the conference. It was a sign of significant growth.

LeGrand, who joined Rutgers as part of the 2008 recruiting class, believes that things are lining up in a way similar to Rutgers during Schiano 1.0. Player development is key, LeGrand said.

“I believe they go after certain players and the coaches develop them into very smart, physical players that can play with anybody in the country,” LeGrand said.

“That’s all attributed to the consistency of living by the ‘CHOP’ mentality which we saw on the first go around as well.”

LeGrand lives in central New Jersey and is an entrepreneur. He is the founder of LeGrand Coffee.

Former Rutgers football star Eric LeGrand on where ‘bELieve’ first started

Eric LeGrand details how he first was inspired by ‘bELieve.’

Any fan of Rutgers football over the years knows that in the fourth quarter, a ‘bELieve’ flag is run onto the field, often bringing an ovation from those in attendance at SHI Stadium. Run onto the field to the chorus from Don’t Stop Believing, it is a tribute to Eric LeGrand.

It was 13 years ago this week that LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury while playing for Rutgers in a game against Army. He remains a positive light around the Rutgers community and he continues his transition to entrepreneurship with multiple business ventures including LeGrand coffee.

On Friday, LeGrand posted about ‘bELieve’ and why it resonates with him. The second in third letters in the word are Legrand’s initials, something that first struck him when he was a high school football standout at Colonia.

LeGrand continues his daily pursuit and progress to walk once again. He serves as a radio analyst on Rutgers football broadcasts.

Coincidentally, this past Saturday, the ‘bELieve’ flag was run out on the rain-soaked field at SHI Stadium at the end of the third quarter. Down 24-6 at the time, Rutgers scored three straight touchdowns for a 27-24 win over Michigan State.

Watch: Rutgers football legend Eric LeGrand has ‘Messi Mania’

Former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand goes all in on Lionel Messi.

Eric LeGrand is seemingly everywhere these days. The former Rutgers football player, now a radio analyst and entrepreneur, made his way to Red Bull Arena on Saturday night to watch Inter Miami and Lionel Messi in action.

The MLS match was the biggest sports event of the weekend in the tristate area (sorry New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers fans). With over 26,000 fans in attendance, the largest crowd ever at Red Bull Arena, Inter Miami secured three points with a 2-0 victory over the Red Bulls.

It was the MLS debut for Messi, who is considered the greatest active player in international soccer and argued by many to be the greatest player ever in the history of the game. Messi signed with Inter Miami this summer

LeGrand was one of several notable VIPs in attendance on Saturday night including musician Fat Joe, actor Kal Penn and New Jersey governor Phil Murphy among others.

Messi, who came into the match in the second half, scored late in the game ot secure the road win for Inter Miami.

LeGrand has become quite the soccer fan, frequenting Red Bulls games as well as Gotham FC, the local NWSL team.

[lawrence-related id=29526]

No word if Messi stopped by LeGrand Coffee House on his way out of town for his daily cup of ‘Believe.’

Also in attendance on Saturday night was Rutgers men’s soccer head coach Jim McElderry. He attended the match with his son, Liam, who is a standout defender at Delbarton.

LeGrand Coffee House will celebrate one year this Saturday

Eric LeGrand is set to celebrate one year of LeGrand Coffee House.

Eric LeGrand has had something brewing over the past year, and now it is time to celebrate.

LeGrand Coffee House will be having a special celebration on Saturday to mark its first anniversary. The former Rutgers defensive tackle, who is also an analyst on football broadcasts, has had a successful first year at his brick-and-motor location.

From sacks to snacks, LeGrand’s venture into the coffee industry first began with selling his own beans. He then saw an opportunity to have his own coffee shop and the rest is history.

LeGrand Coffee House opened a location in Woodbridge, N.J. with much fanfare. Among the celebrities who attended the opening were New Jersey’s governor, Phil Murphy, as well as Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano.

To mark their first year in business, LeGrand Coffee House will be celebrating with music and food as well as drink specials.

The affable LeGrand is one of the most famous alumni of Rutgers. His story of courage and character has inspired millions and won him fans the world over.

LeGrand Coffee is the official coffee of SHI Stadium and has formed a partnership with the New Jersey Devils, where it is served up at the Prudential Center.

Eric LeGrand reminds fans that he still believes

Eric LeGrand marks the anniversary of his spinal cord injury.

Eric LeGrand took some time on Sunday to remember the injury that changed his life. And in fashion typical for the former Rutgers football star, he used the moment not to lament but to focus on the future and his belief that he will one day walk again.

LeGrand suffered the life-changing 12 years ago on Sunday. The injury came while on special teams duty for Rutgers football in a game against Army at MetLife Stadium. His journey has been a long one but today, there is no one who means more to the Rutgers community at-large than the inspirational LeGrand.

He continues to make progress in the slow rehabilitation from his spinal injury suffered 12 years ago this past weekend:

Currently, LeGrand remains busy. He is an in-demand motivational speaker and an entrepreneur who has his own coffee shop in Woodbridge, N.J. The former Rutgers defensive lineman also is a voice on the Scarlet Knights’ radio broadcasts.

[lawrence-related id=19891]

Signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a contract in 2012 in what would have been his draft year, LeGrand also has been known to hang out with Snoop Dog, Aaron Judge and the crew from Barstool Sports.
