NYC mayor-elect plans to ‘revisit’ the vaccine mandate keeping Kyrie Irving out
NYC mayor-elect Eric Adams says he will reconsider the city’s vaccine mandate, which could have a big impact on the Nets.
The Nets are starting to hit their stride without Kyrie Irving, but there’s a possibility the superstar guard could be allowed to return to action in 2022 without receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
New York City mayor-elect Eric Adams has announced that he plans to “revisit” the vaccine mandate in New York. If the mandate gets lifted, Kyrie Irving would be eligible to play in both home and away games.
“The mask mandates we should keep in place,” Adams said. “We need to revisit how we are going to address the vaccine mandates.”
Adams will take office on January 1.
It seems like the Nets would be on board with welcoming the showstopper back too. Before the team’s win against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Nets head coach Steve Nash said “if the mandate changes, he’d be welcomed back for sure.”
The 29-year-old is still fresh off of a historical season where he averaged 26.9 PPG and became a part of the 50-40-90 club. The moment of truth will determine the guard’s future.
