Michigan football gets highest-rated in 2023 class

This is a move that could really turn things around in recruiting. #GoBlue

That makes two thus far, Shooter.

On Friday afternoon, Michigan football finally got a commitment from a top target in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) four-star defensive end Collins Acheampong, as he chose the maize and blue over a surging Miami program. But the Wolverines weren’t done yet.

Michigan has long sought fellow 2023 defensive lineman, Coleyville (Tx). Covenant Christian Academy four-star Enow Etta, who for a long time was pegged as a Michigan State lean. However, the Wolverines made significant progress in his recruitment of late, and it appeared to just be a matter of time before he dropped for the maize and blue.

That happened on Wednesday, as Etta made a verbal pledge to Michigan football.

According to 247Sports’ proprietary rankings, Etta is the No. 58 player in the country, regardless of position, the No. 8 defensive lineman, and the 14th-best player in the state of Texas. He’s Michigan’s 11th pledge of the cycle, and is the highest-rated commitment in the 2023 class.

Michigan State football listed as finalist for 4-star Texas DL Enow Etta

Michigan State is one of four teams still alive for an elite defensive lineman prospect in the 2023 class

Michigan State is one of four teams still alive for an elite defensive lineman prospect in the 2023 class.

Enow Etta of Colleyville, Texas revealed his top four schools on Wednesday evening, with the Spartans making the list. Michigan State is joined by rival Michigan, Stanford and Alabama.

Etta is ranked as the No. 8 defensive lineman and No. 54 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2023 class. He is a highly-touted prospect who holds offers from 30 programs.

Etta took an official visit to Michigan State a few weeks ago, and was projected to end up in green-and-white based on crystal ball predictions. However, some of those have flipped to the rival Wolverines following his visit to Michigan last week.

We will know soon enough, but it appears that the battle for this big-time prospect is between the Spartans and Wolverines. Whoever wins will surely get a major recruit in the 2023 cycle.

Michigan football makes top four for 2023 priority

Good news for the maize and blue! #GoBlue

Fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor, things appear to be going quite well for Michigan football in regards to Enow Etta.

The Wolverines have been surging for the Coleyville (Tx.) Covenant Christian four-star defensive lineman, who 247Sports has listed as the No. 58 player in the country, regardless of position. Etta officially visited Michigan this past weekend, and the maize and blue appear to have regained momentum after rival Michigan State had appeared to be in the pole position.

The Spartans, of course, are still in the running, as is Alabama and Stanford — Etta will officially visit the latter this upcoming weekend. He released his top four on Wednesday, and those three along with Michigan made the cut.

Etta will make a decision sometime after he visits the Cardinal, though the exact date has yet to be pinned down.

MSU football picks up ‘Crystal Ball’ prediction for 2023 4-star DL Enow Etta

Michigan State football is now considered the favorite to land a major defensive lineman prospect in the 2023 class

Michigan State football is now considered the favorite to land a major defensive lineman prospect in the 2023 class.

The Spartans have picked up a crystal ball prediction for Enow Etta — a four-star defensive lineman prospect from Colleyville, Texas. Steve Wiltfong — 247Sports’ Director of Recruiting — was the one who entered the crystal ball prediction, which is a great sign for Michigan State.

Etta is ranked as the No. 9 defensive lineman and No. 58 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2023 class. Etta holds scholarship offers from more than 25 programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and Wisconsin.

Time will tell if the Spartans are able to land this massive recruit — but if they do, he would be a great addition to the 2023 class Mel Tucker and his staff are building.
