Ravens OLB Odafe Oweh discusses excitement for future of team’s defense

Ravens outside linebacker Odafe Oweh shared his excitement about the future of the team’s defense

While their last game of the season ended in a disappointing result, the Baltimore Ravens’ future has the potential to be very bright. With top-tier talent all over the field on defense, it seems that the health of the team’s offense will be key to the Ravens’ success in 2023.

Outside linebacker Odafe Oweh was asked in his end-of-season media availability session about his outlook for Baltimore’s defense moving forward, and he left no doubt as to his position on the matter, discussing how he’s excited to continue growing with high-school teammate David Ojabo.

“It’s definitely exciting,” Oweh said of the current roster’s prospects. “I’m excited for my brother [David] Ojabo. He didn’t really get his opportunity like he should’ve, but he’s definitely on his way up. I’m excited where he’s going to be at. Me and him are going to be working and just the whole defense. We’re all just going to mature, have another year together, and next year it’s going to be a better outcome by God’s grace.”

Nobody could blame Ravens fans for being peeved at the team’s playoff collapse against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, but with the potential of such a promising future ahead, the Charm City faithful would be wise to hold out hope for even better results at the end of the 2023 campaign, especially with how the team’s defense was able to perform over the second half of the season.

Ravens S Kyle Hamilton ‘thankful’ for successful rookie campaign

Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton said that he’s thankful for the support he received from the organization in his rookie season

The Baltimore Ravens saw their season end in brutal fashion on Sunday when they were unable to hold onto a 10-9 halftime lead to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Wild Card game. It was a game where Baltimore had multiple chances to win, but a heartbreaking loss was the end outcome.

The loss, disappointing though it may be, offered some perspective from  rookie safety Kyle Hamilton during his end-of-season press conference. In his comments to reporters, rather than dwell on the outcome of his first playoff game, Hamilton reiterated his gratitude for the support he received from the Ravens and their fans in his rookie season.

“It’s a long year. It’s a long rookie year.,” Hamilton explained. “You come in the draft process and don’t really know who you’re going to be with, but I think I came into the perfect situation. Staff, players, personnel – everybody has just been amazing to me this year, and I’m really thankful for the whole organization.”

While his season may be over, Hamilton will continue to play a large part in Baltimore’s defense moving forward. With more time to develop and a healthy offense on the other side of the ball next year, Hamilton should have no problem helping the Ravens become a dominant force in the AFC in 2023. He was moved all around the field during his rookie year, and was able to turn into one of the bright spots on Baltimore’s defense throughout the season.

Podcast: I’ll say it, Cowboys’ season ‘Wasn’t as bad as it feels right now’

For all the difficulties the Cowboys faced, was the final result really that far off from where people should’ve expected it to be?

“Let’s also look at what happened. At the end of the day, they weren’t good enough to beat a bad Giants team when it all came down to it..

If you look at it from the point of view of a brand new coaching staff coming in, installing their system. You’re going to have struggles early in the year and you hope to get better towards the tail end of the season, the [Dallas] Cowboys did that.. The Cowboys basically did what they should have done based on all of the injuries that they had. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t anything to write home about… but in the grand scheme of how you’d envision the season to go when you lose your star franchise QB after week 5, you lose your Pro Bowl RT before the season starts, you only have two games of your left tackle, your right guard who is All Pro, first ballot Hall of Famer probably the best offensive lineman in the league only plays half the season.. you can kind of understand how this team is a 6-10, 7-9 team regardless of what your expectations were.

So I think that while this was a miserable existence, there are many reasons to believe that the Cowboys are a true bounce back candidate… You can see how you can spin this that it wasn’t as bad as it feels right now.”

In the final episode of the season, we talk the overview of the season, the Dak Prescott negotiations, which other free agents the Cowboys will look to bring back and a preview of the options in front of the team for the 2021 NFL draft.
