Warriors sign and waive undrafted rookie Elijah Pemberton

After signing and waiving Elijah Pemberton, the Warriors will be able to add the rookie wing to their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz.

After they were unable to receive a letter of clearance from FIBA to sign veteran guard Jeremy Lin, the Golden State Warriors turned their attention elsewhere.

On Saturday night, the Warriors signed and waived undrafted rookie Elijah Pemberton. Following both transactions, the Hofstra product will join Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz.

On Instagram and Twitter, the 6-foot-5 wing thanked the Warriors for giving him an opportunity.

Pemberton played four seasons at Hofstra, averaging 15.4 points on 44.8% shooting from the field, with 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Over his career, Pemberton averaged 38.7% from 3-point range on 4.3 attempts from beyond the arc.

On his way to earning a spot on the CAA All-Conference second team as a senior, Pemberton notched a career-best 17.6 points on 44.8% shooting with 5.6 boards, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 34 games. Pemberton scored less than 10 points in only five games for the Pride as a senior.

In February, the 22-year-old tallied a season-high 35 points on 11-of-17 shooting featuring six triples against James Madison. Pemberton tacked on three assists, two steals and two boards in 31 minutes. Pemberton scored 15 points in 38 minutes during Hofstra’s upset win over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
