We continue our multi-part interview series with Florida-based four-star 2025 linebacker Elijah Melendez. He has visited USC and been impressed by the Trojans. USC and Lincoln Riley really need any substantial piece of help they can get at linebacker. Melendez and other top defensive prospects across the country are watching and waiting as the coaching carousel spins. The man Riley selects as USC’s new defensive coordinator might have a lot to do with Melendez’s college choice. It could be the same for a number of other defensive players who want to come to USC, but only if there’s a defensive coordinator with a proven track record of sending players to the NFL.

Elijah Melendez, who is one of the top linebackers in the 2025 recruiting cycle, named his top 10 schools in October. USC made the cut for the Florida native.

Melendez’s top schools are Georgia, Ohio State, USC Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, Miami, LSU and Colorado.

The Florida native enjoyed his unofficial visit to USC and his first time being in Southern California. He sat down with Trojans Wire to talk about the Trojans, his favorite rapper, and all things football.

Trojans Wire: First and foremost, how was your visit to USC for the Trojans-Bruins matchup?

Melendez: It was amazing, my visit was definitely a top-three visit I’ve had so far in my recruitment.

Trojans Wire: What do you think of USC’s move to the Big Ten next season?

Melendez: USC move to the Big Ten plays a huge part and really helps them with me as far as resources, exposure, playing top talent every week, and style of play.

Trojans Wire: Who was your favorite Trojan player growing up?

Melendez: My favorite USC player growing up was for sure Brian Cushing. He was straight savage at linebacker!

After recently naming Colorado to his top 10, four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez plans on visiting Boulder this weekend

The recruiting trail for the Colorado football team isn’t dying down despite the Buffs losing some games lately.

Highly ranked prospects are still making their way to Boulder to check out the program. One of the biggest recruits who will visit this weekend for Colorado’s homecoming game against Oregon State is Class of 2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez.

Melendez recently narrowed down his top list of schools and Colorado is one of the finalists. He revealed his top 10 schools toward the end of October:

The Florida prospect will now get a first-hand look at what the Buffs have to offer.

With the Buffs hosting Oregon State, Melendez will be at Folsom Field for the game, and the 2025 linebacker from Osceola High School has a ton of hype. If head coach Deion Sanders can land him, it would make an already-loaded 2025 class even better.

Four-star linebacker recruit Elijah Melendez visited the University of Georgia in June 2023. Melendez, who is one of the top linebackers in the 2025 recruiting cycle, has named his top 10 schools.

Melendez’s top schools are Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, Miami, Colorado, and LSU.

The talented linebacker has taken recent visits to Ohio State for the Ohio State-Penn State game and to Miami.

Elijah Melendez plays high school football for Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida. The four-star is a junior and is considered the No. 181 recruit in the country and the No. 21 linebacker. Melendez is the No. 27 player in Florida, according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker has received a lot of recruiting attention over the past couple months. The Osceola standout announced his top 10 schools via social media.

Melendez is a speedy linebacker, who is a big hitter and will continue adding to his frame. The four-star could be an early contributor on special teams wherever he plays college football. Coaches love players that are willing to help out on special teams.

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to recruit at an elite level. Georgia has the nation’s top class of 2024 and 2025 at the moment. The Bulldogs have commitments from three five-star recruits in the 2025 cycle and four five-star recruits in the class of 2024. Georgia’s most recent 2025 commitment is from star Cedar Grove running back Bo Walker.

[autotag]Elijah Melendez[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 223-pound four-star linebacker from Kissimmee, Florida where he plays for Osceola High School. The Osceola Kowboys finished the 2022 season 10-4 with a loss to Lakeland in the Florida 4 S state semifinals.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections at this time for Melendez but the Florida Gators are a 39% favorite to land him per On3.

2025 linebacker Elijah Melendez details Tennessee being top three in his recruitment.

2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez unofficially visited Tennessee for the first time on June 3.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker is from Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida.

Melendez discussed visiting Tennessee and updated his recruitment with Vols Wire.

“It was really good, the coaching staff at Tennessee is amazing and they are some of the best people I’ve ever been around,” Melendez said.

Melendez has formed a relationship with Tennessee linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary.

“Coach Jean-Mary and me have a great relationship, after that being just my first visit,” Melendez said. “He made me feel at home and felt like a family. He is a central Florida guy, just like me, so we relate on a lot of things, and his coaching style is just amazing.

“I’ve watched film with him and saw how I would fit in and I see myself playing very well in the defense. I know I would really be an impact player.”

Melendez is the No. 271 overall prospect in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 28 linebacker and No. 39 player in Florida, according to On3 Sports industry rankings.

Melendez will return to Tennessee, while the Vols are emerging as a top school in his recruitment.

“I plan on returning on July 29,” Melendez said. “Tennessee is in my top three right now, for sure.

“I’m just enjoying the process. I already know where my top eight is, but I’m just visiting places so I know for sure where home is.”
