2026 5-star CB out of Akron (OH) places Texas A&M in his Top 10 list

Texas A&M is in the running for 2026 5-star CB Elbert Hill

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is still in its beginning stages. Head coach Mike Elko and his staff are focused on the 2024 season, but they know that every game, either at or close to College Station, is another opportunity to impact the recruiting trail.

This weekend, the Aggies will face Arkansas inside AT&T Stadium for the final time in the series. 2025 4-star wide receiver and Texas A&M commit Kelshaun Johnson will attend the game in Arlington, but that’s just one of the confirmed visitors.

In the 2026 cycle, one of the top cornerback prospects in the country has included Texas A&M in his Top 10 program list, joining Ohio State, USC, Tennessee, Alabama, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, and UCLA.

During his junior season at Archbishop Hoban HS in Akron, Ohio, Hill is mainly utilized as a wide receiver due to his size, speed, and soft hands. Still, he looks like a cornerback at the next level and a perfect fit in Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Batememan’s defensive scheme.

According to 247Sports Composite, Hill is currently positioned as the 15th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the No. 1-ranked cornerback prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Ohio.

5-star 2026 Ohio cornerback names Notre Dame in his top group

Will another Ohioan be heading to South Bend?

While it is still extremely early in the 2026 recruiting cycle, Notre Dame football is off to a great start to its class.

Already in the fold are quarterback Noah Grubbs, who will be in South Bend this weekend, along with wide receiver Dylan Faison, brother of current starter Jordan. Head coach Marcus Freeman has identified his home state of Ohio as a state that the Irish need to recruit well.

So far so good with cornerback [autotag]Elbert Hill[/autotag], as on Friday he announced his top 10. Along with the Irish are the Tennessee Volunteers, Oregon Ducks, Michigan Wolverines, Texas A&M Aggies, USC Trojans, Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, UCLA Bruins and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It’s quite an impressive list that the 5-foot, 10-inch and 170-pounder has, and considering he’s ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 18 overall player, its certainly justified. This will not be an easy recruiting battle for Notre Dame to win, but they are squarely in the mix at this moment.

Michigan State football has dipped into Ohio to extend an offer to a high level prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

Elbert Hill was the recipient of the offer from the Spartans. He is currently ranked as the No. 18 overall player and the No. 1 cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Hill is a native of Akron, Ohio, and plays his high school football at Archbishop Hoban. A 5-foot-10, 170 pound cornerback, the crystal balls on 247Sports currently favor the home state Buckeyes to land the blue chip talent.
