Barcelona will wear Drake’s OVO owl logo on its shirts for El Clasico

You too can have your logo on Barcelona’s shirt if you reach 50 billion Spotify streams

Barcelona has announced that it will be sporting Drake’s OVO owl logo on its shirt for El Clásico against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The move is in conjunction with Barça’s normal shirt sponsor Spotify, which is honoring the rapper for becoming the first artist on the platform with more than 50 billion streams.

“On October 16, instead of seeing the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service logo on the front of the Barça jersey, those watching the game against Real Madrid will see the silhouette of an owl – the logo of the Canadian singer’s brand,” Barcelona said in a statement.

Drake also announced the move in a post on social media, saying: “This doesn’t feel real but it is.”

As for the game itself, Barcelona and Real Madrid will enter the match at Santiago Bernabéu level on points atop La Liga with 22 apiece.

Winning La Liga is likely to be the biggest achievement Barcelona would be able to reach this season. The club looks set for a costly exit from the Champions League after a wild 3-3 draw with Inter this week.

El Clásico: See every goal from Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Barcelona

Real Madrid is at the top of La Liga after a win in El Clásico.

For the first time since 2008, Real Madrid earned a second consecutive La Liga win over Barcelona in the latest edition of El Clásico. Needing a victory to stay at the top of La Liga this weekend, Real Madrid took control of the game in the second half after a wild open that saw both teams score inside of 10 minutes.

Federico Valverde gave the visitors an early lead in the fifth minute, when he was picked out making an incisive run down the middle with a great pass from Karim Benzema. Valverde took one touch to carry the ball into the penalty area, and then blasted a shot past goalkeeper Neto.

Barcelona answered immediately with an equalizer from Ansu Fati. The 17-year-old finished a cross from Jordi Alba at close range, leaving Thibaut Courtois little chance to make a save.

VAR awarded Real Madrid a penalty in the second half, as Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet was ruled to be holding Sergio Ramos as a ball was crossed into the area. Once the review was completed, Ramos converted from the spot.

Luka Modric sealed the win with a spectacular goal for Real Madrid, making Neto stumble in the penalty area with a dribbling move before side-footing a shot into a gaping net.

After a sub-par performance against Real Madrid, the Blaugrana still managed to take sole possession of first place thanks to its biggest rival’s misstep before the winter break. Now that the team has edged in front, Barcelona will be looking to separate itself from the pack. Despite its top of the table status, rumors of Ernesto Valverde’s long-term future at the club persist. Reports have even linked former Barcelona forward Thierry Henry to the club’s manager job if Valverde is relieved of his duties. It remains to be seen what exactly would need to happen for the Spaniard to lose his job, but winning in the league should help his cause, at least until the Champions League resumes in February.

With the way things are going for Espanyol, this season could feature the last Barcelona Derby for a while. The lesser known Barcelona-based club is struggling mightily and is sitting at the very bottom of the league table. The team has just 10 points through 18 matches and is five points from safety. It doesn’t take much of a deep dive into the stats to figure out why the team is so low in the table. Espanyol has conceded the most amount of goals, while also scoring the least. If things don’t change soon, relegation seems inevitable.

Barcelona vs. Real Madrid highlights: What we saw from El Clasico

The match ended in a draw, but there were still plenty of highlights in the matchup between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona and Real Madrid took part in another edition of El Clasico on Wednesday, a game that was rescheduled from October after the previous game was postponed due to Catalan protests.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and what it lacked in goals, it had in drama. Barcelona’s Gerard Pique cleared a shot off the line, only for Sergio Ramos to go and block a shot from going in at the other end moments later.

Later in the match, Messi would put the ball on Jordi Alba’s left foot, in alone on goal, only for Alba to drag his shot just wide.

In the second half, Gareth Bale had multiple clear chances, including a ball go in the net for Real Madrid, only to have it called back for offside.

It ended 0-0. See all the action below.
