A new edge rusher target has emerged after he picked up an offer from Auburn

Auburn extends an offer to Texas edge defender in the latest recruiting efforts on the trail.

On Monday, Auburn extended an offer to 2023 edge rusher Braylan Shelby. Shelby, the Texas native, already holds 25 offers. With the Tigers likely losing [autotag]Derrick Hall[/autotag] and [autotag]Eku Leota[/autotag], the addition of Shelby would be a massive addition for the 2023 class.

Auburn’s lone commit of the 2023 class is offensive lineman [autotag]Bradyn Joiner[/autotag]. [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and his staff certainly hope that their recruiting class isn’t a replica of last year’s recruiting class. Last year, the Tigers ranked 9th in the SEC in 247’s recruiting rankings. A guy like Shelby could definitely bolster Auburn’s chances of having a better recruiting cycle for 2023.

Tigers offer big-time 2023 Defensive Lineman from Georgia

Four-star defensive lineman gets a late night offer from the Auburn staff.

On Thursday night, Auburn extended an offer to 2023 Defensive Lineman Zavion Hardy.

Listed as a strongside defensive end, the Tigers could look to add depth thereafter likely losing Derrick Hall and [autotag]Eku Leota[/autotag] to the NFL Draft. Hardy is being recruited by numerous other schools, and the Tigers made sure to get themselves in the mix on Thursday by giving him an offer.

Among the list of schools targeting Hardy, you will find SEC rivals the Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, and Ole Miss Rebels. He is coming off a recent visit to the Grove. Currently ranked as a four-star recruit, Hardy is one that the Auburn Tigers and the defensive staff need to prioritize as their top defenders of the group is set to leave for the NFL following the season.

Spring Football Preview: Living on the Edge

Auburn has plenty of talent but lacks depth.

Auburn’s edge position has some of the best talent on the roster but also has a concerning lack of depth.

The Tigers return seniors Derick Hall and Eku Leota, two proven veterans but only redshirt freshman Dylan Brooks to back them up.

The expected departure of T.D. Moultry (graduation) and transfers of Romello Height and Caleb Johnson mean Auburn will need to add a player or two to this position group. That can be either adding a transfer or someone changing positions.

Here is a look at Auburn’s current edge players.

Romeo Height has entered the transfer portal

Auburn has lost an edge rusher to the portal.

Auburn has lost a defensive lineman to the transfer portal.

Romeo Height, a 6-foot-3 sophomore EDGE rusher out of Dublin, Georgia, has officially entered the transfer portal. Height recorded 18 tackles and 3 TFL this season. He was a three-star linebacker coming out of high school. Auburn converted him to the EDGE position.

The Tigers have extreme depth along the defensive line and should be one of the better D-line units in the SEC next season. Height’s announcement comes after fellow EDGE rusher Eku Leota announced that he will be returning to Auburn for another season.

Best of luck to Height wherever he choses to go.

What do you think about these rankings for Auburn’s 2021 football team?

Ahead of 2021, Auburn Wire is ranking the top 50 players on Auburn’s roster

This list attempts to include past production and their assumed production in 2021. It is not a ranking of the 50 best players in order. If a freshman or newcomer is higher than a returning player his ranking is based more on the projection of his abilities and importance to that position group.

The next group is players 30-26.
