Watch: Deebo Samuel is a bad man

Behind Deebo Samuel, the 49ers landed another haymaker against the Eagles.

After the Philadelphia Eagles landed their first punch in a heavyweight fight, the San Francisco 49ers responded with a haymaker from Deebo Samuel.

Following a touchdown from Jalen Hurts to cut the 49ers’ lead to eight, Brock Purdy and the 49ers went right back to work to silence Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Purdy zipped a pass to Samuel over the middle of the field and the 49ers wide receiver did the rest. Samuel sliced through the Eagles defense breaking multiple tackles on his way to a 48-yard touchdown reception.

With his 48-yard touchdown, Samuel now has two scores against the Eagles, one through the air and one on the ground.

Watch: Christian McCaffrey punches in TD to extend 49ers’ lead vs. Eagles

Behind Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey found the end zone against the Eagles.

Through the first two drives of the game, the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense bottled up Christian McCaffrey. However, late in the first half, the San Francisco 49ers star running back struck against the reigning NFC Champions.

With the chance to extend their lead before halftime, McCaffrey followed behind All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams to get into the end zone. McCaffrey’s two-yard touchdown run helped the 49ers take a commanding 14-6 lead in Philadelphia with under 40 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Watch: 49ers’ Javon Kinlaw cleans up Jalen Hurts for his first sack since 2020

Javon Kinlaw cleaned up Jalen Hurts for his first sack since his rookie season.

Early in their highly-anticipated clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers’ defense has shown the ability to bend, but not break.

After Charvarius Ward broke up a Jalen Hurts pass in the end zone to force a field goal, the 49ers’ defense came up clutch with the Eagles threatening for the second consecutive drive.

With good coverage down field, Hurts wasn’t able to get the ball off while Javon Kinlaw and the 49ers pass rush broke through the Eagles’ tough offensive line. While Hurts looked like he was going down to give up the sack, Kinlaw got there at the right time to clean things up. His stop to Hurts marked his first sack since his rookie season in 2020.

Behind the negative play from Hurts, the 49ers defense were able to force the Eagles to kick another field goal.

Stock up, stock down after Eagles Week 2 loss to the 49ers

Stock up, stock down after Eagles Week 2 loss to the 49ers

The Eagles suffered a tough 17-11 loss to the 49ers in the 2021 home opener at Lincoln Financial Field in front of a capacity crowd.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league and like the stock market or Dow Jones, players can be volatile from week to week.

Here’s our Eagles stock report for Week 2.

Eagles vs. 49ers: Josh Norman to start at CB against Philadelphia

Eagles vs. 49ers: With San Francisco dealing with various injuries in the secondary, veteran Josh Norman will start at CB against Philadelphia

With the 49ers already dealing with a myriad of injuries in the secondary, Adam Schefter is reporting that veteran cornerback Josh Norman will start at cornerback against the Eagles less than two weeks after signing his deal with the team.

A talented veteran who has seen some huge moments in the NFL, Norman was victimized by Philadelphia during his time in Washington and he’ll likely face off against the Eagles’ talented star rookie, DeVonta Smith.

In 2020, Norman appeared in nine games (three starts) with Buffalo and finished with 24 tackles, four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception. He also added six tackles and one forced fumble in three postseason games for the Bills.
