Hawkeye Wave featured in ‘EA Sports College Football 25’ official reveal trailer

College football’s greatest tradition.

College football fans have been waiting a long time for the next edition of EA Sports’ famed video game series.

With the NIL and player likeness hurdles worked out, fans finally have what they’ve been waiting for. After an 11-year hiatus since NCAA Football 14, “EA Sports College Football 25” will arrive to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S on July 19.

On Friday, EA Sports unveiled its official reveal trailer for “EA Sports College Football 25.”

Fans went wild as they got their first glimpse at their favorite players and programs in the new game. For the first time, there were some of college football’s biggest stars with names on the back of their jerseys.

One of the coolest parts of the reveal? Iowa’s famed Hawkeye Wave was featured prominently.

There’s Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara and Hawkeye running back Leshon Williams waving to the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital with the water tower off to the side.

For those unfamiliar with the tradition at Iowa, after every first quarter at Kinnick Stadium, Hawkeye players and fans turn and wave in unison at the pediatric patients inside the UI Children’s Hospital. It’s a show of support and a wave of hope.

It’s also a recognition that their respective battles are more important than the game of football.

It’s fantastic to see one of college football’s greatest traditions represented in the official trailer for “EA Sports College Football 25.”

The team already confirmed it would be in the game back in February. Check out our predictions for the five highest-ranked Blue Devils in the game, from new quarterback Maalik Murphy to star cornerback Chandler Rivers, here.

The game revealed on Thursday that it will be released on July 19, so Duke fans will need to wait until the summer to bring College Football Playoff titles to Durham. However, they can rewatch that small moment from the trailer for a taste of the Wallace Wade Stadium satisfaction.

Release date for EA Sports College Football 25 announced

EA Sports has officially announced when its college football video game will be available to buy this summer.

The long-awaited revival of EA Sports’ college football video game franchise is almost here. But after a few teases and few updates on the return of the franchise for the first time since 2013, the biggest question has been just when exactly we will be able to get our hands on the video game.

Now, we know the answer.

EA Sports announced that its college football video game, titled EA Sports College Football 25, will be available on July 19. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X models. The game will not be made available on the Nintendo Switch.

EA Sports will reveal a full trailer for the game on Friday, but pre-orders for the game are able to be made now on the various digital stores. It is available in a bundle with the software company’s NFL franchise, Maden NFL 25, as part of an MVP bundle. Those who order the bundle will be given early access to the game beginning a few days ahead of the official release.

For those keeping track at home, the July 19 release date is exactly 4,028 days since the release of the last version of the game, NCAA Football 14. It’s been a long time coming, but the drought is nearly over.

What we learned from the EA Sports College Football 25 buying options

Why I’m concerned about the quality of EA Sports College Football 25.

If you are anything like me, you can’t wait for EA Sports College Football 25 to release.

It has been years since we were graced with a college football game, with NCAA 14 being a Mount Rushmore-quality game. The excitement is real for many, though I’d be lying if I didn’t say I had concerns about this game. Mind you, this is all purely opinion, but it’s how I see things and have seen them throughout the years.

Of all the video game publishers/developers over the years, EA Sports has let me down the most over the past decade. Game quality has often gone down, cash grabs have skyrocketed, and what matters about a game has fallen out the window. Rather than strong gameplay or the features fans continually ask for year after year, sports games have fallen into what I see as an ugly routine.

So, what concerns me so much about the buying options for EA Sports College Football 25? Well, it’s how deeply invested the game seems to be in Ultimate Team… The No. 1 thing I believe destroyed sports games. Looking at the deluxe edition ($99.99) and the MVP edition ($149.99), the entirety of the rewards revolve around Ultimate Team outside of early access… Arguably, it was the worst thing I could have seen personally with this game.

Is this an overreaction? It absolutely could be. There was a time early in the years of Ultimate Team when it was an excellent option and fresh for the fans. Even so, we are years removed from that time in our lives.

This was the biggest red flag for me as we approach the now confirmed July 19 release date. If you are a big Ultimate Team person to this day, then this is a home run for you and you will likely love it.

Am I still going to get the game? Yes, that’s a no brainer even if it is underwhelming and that in a way, is part of the problem. At the end of the day, people are going to buy the game. We just have to hope that this isn’t an early indication of what to expect from the game.

EA Sports College Football 25 release date announced

EA Sports College Football 25, which will let Blue Devil fans play at Wallace Wade Stadium, announced its release date on Thursday.

EA Sports College Football 25, the highly anticipated return of the NCAA video game series, will be released on July 19.

The franchise told fans to mark their calendars on Thursday with an announcement. The game will cost $70 with a deluxe version running for $150.

The franchise stopped releasing new games after NCAA Football 14 back in the summer of 2013, 11 years ago. The game became a cult classic, and updates on the newest version have slowly trickled out over the last year.

The Duke football team already confirmed it would be in the newest edition of the franchise. Fans will be able to bring national championships to the crowds of Wallace Wade Stadium on the game console of their choice.

With names like Jordan Moore, Chandler Rivers, and Maalik Murphy in Blue Devils uniforms next season, check out our prediction for the five highest-ranked Duke players in the game here.

The game is available for preorder now.
