Texas senior forward Dylan Disu left the Longhorns Sweet 16 game early while dealing with an apparent foot injury. Rodney Terry mentioned postgame that Texas expected to be without its starting big man going into the game.
The Longhorns put together an inspired performance despite Disu’s absence vs. Xavier. Texas cruised past the Musketeers 83-71 behind 19 points from Tyrese Hunter and 18 points from Christian Bishop.
No. 2 Texas is set up for a matchup against No. 5 Miami with a spot in the Final Four on the line on Sunday afternoon.
Disu’s status for the Elite Eight is in question. He is reportedly a game-time decision, according to Jon Rothstein.
Getting Disu back on the floor would be a massive shot in the arm for the Longhorns. He has arguably been the best player on the team down the stretch of the season. Disu won MVP of the Big 12 Tournament and turned in a historic 28-point game vs. Penn State in the round of 32.
