Jose Miranda hit a HR right after Padres broadcast made fun of Dylan Bundy for picking his nose

The announcers were WAY too excited about it.

It happens so often: A baseball broadcast focuses on a player sitting in the dugout minding his own business, and then that player proceeds to pick his nose. I don’t know how broadcasts manage to time that consistently, but the San Diego Padres broadcast was unusually excited to catch Twins pitcher Dylan Bundy in the act.

But in a bit of anti-bullying karmic energy, Jose Miranda had his teammate’s back.

As Miranda was at the plate during the sixth inning of Sunday’s game, the Padres broadcast showed Bundy in the dugout. And, of course, Bundy proceeded to pick his nose. Like, extensively. That was when the Padres color analyst Mark Grant offered his commentary, and it got a bit excessive.

“Ah, yeah, get in there,” Grant said. “Oh yeah! A couple knuckles. Yeah, there you go! Get it! … Fifty bucks says the kid’s gonna eat it.”

Almost at the exact moment Grant completed his joke, Miranda drove a home run to left field to give the Twins the lead. Grant then had to switch his commentary back to the actual game, which made it all even funnier.

If only Bundy could have held on to that lead. The Padres followed up with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning and won, 3-2.

MLB fans still had plenty to say about that wild sequence.

Kevin Durant had a very amusing reaction after seeing Dylan Bundy vomit on the pitcher’s mound

Not in front of Kevin Durant!!!

If you’re Dylan Bundy, I’m not sure how you recover from this one. Not only did the Los Angeles Angels pitcher vomit up his lunch on live television, he did so in front of Kevin Durant of all people.

During Monday’s second inning against the New York Yankees, Bundy suddenly turned to the back of the mound in between pitches and puked unexpectedly. For the sake of all your stomachs, I won’t directly put the video in here, but here’s a tweet of the incident which you can click at your own risk.

Bundy was removed from the game — which was taking place in New York, where it was close to 90 degrees at first pitch — but the big takeaway people had was Durant’s amused reaction to it all, which was captured on the broadcast.

Twitter also couldn’t help but crack jokes, in part due to Durant’s reaction but also at the absurdity of it all.

Seriously though, how does Bundy recover from this? It’s already painful enough to lose your lunch on television where everyone’s watching, but to have Durant witness it in the first row? I could not imagine.

But hey, at least Durant is having a good time at the game!

Prediction

Angels 12, Mariners 6

Moneyline (ML)

The Mariners (+180) pitching staff has been getting crushed this season. It ranks last in runs allowed per game; 28th in opponent’s batting average and home runs; and 27th in strikeouts.

The Angels (-200) have scored a combined 17 runs in the first two games of these series, thanks in part to the debut of 3B Anthony Rendon, who hit a home run in Los Angeles’ 10-2 win on Tuesday.

BetMGM knows that Gonzales’s 5-1 lifetime record against the Angels is bogus, hence Los Angeles is a heavy favorite. However, the Angels moneyline (-200) is too expensive in the regular season for a team that perennially disappoints.

PASS ON THE MONEYLINE.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

If I’m forced to choose, I like the Angels (-1.5, -115) to win by several runs, but the run line — as was the case with the moneyline — is too pricey. Seattle (+1.5, -106) has suspect pitching, and the last 13 Mariners-Angels games have been decided by two or more runs.

Also, neither team’s alternate run lines are enticing enough to bet. PASS ON THE RUN LINE.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under trends for this matchup has me BETTING OVER 9 (-115). The Mariners and Angels have a combined Over/Under record of 9-2-1 so far in 2020 and the Over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. Another reason to like the Over (-115) is the extra vig for the line.

The Over being more expensive suggests the market is betting it, and generally, only sharp money moves lines in regular-season baseball.
