Result: Dustin Stoltzfus def. Marc-Andre Barriault via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 4:28
Updated records: Stoltzfus (16-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC), Barriault (16-9 MMA, 5-8 UFC)
Key stats: Stoltzfus has bonuses in each of his past two wins.

Stoltzfus on the fight’s key moment

“Absolutely amazing. It’s definitely … only German words are coming to my head right now, but it’s what we knew I can do. We knew. All my coaches, all my training partners know that I have a lot of power in my hands and to set that up with the low kick like I did, which was a big part of this fight plan. The dominant wrestling, I know the crowd wasn’t having it, but whatever.”

“Honestly, it just came from the heart. I wouldn’t be here, being able to live off of this sport, without the fans. It’s nice to have a crowd that is behind you and that likes you, but at the end of the day, if they’re there and they’re watching and they’re into it, it doesn’t matter (if they’re cheering for me or not). It really, really doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, we’re all on the same team. If the UFC is making money, we are making money. If people are coming out for my opponent, they’re coming out to see me. So if they’re booing me at the beginning of the fight, I don’t care.”

Stoltzfus on his bonus

“The bonus is such a life-changing thing. I was lucky enough to get one in the fight against Punahele (Soriano), and it’s just life changing. I can’t really put into words for someone who is otherwise making a blue-collar wage to get an unexpected $50 grand on top of it is amazing.”

UFC Fight Night 246 video: Dustin Stoltzfus sleeps Marc-Andre Barriault with hellacious punch

Dustin Stoltzfus threw caution to the wind at UFC Edmonton, then sent Marc-Andre Barriault crashing unconscious.

[autotag]Dustin Stoltzfus[/autotag] threw caution to the wind and [autotag]Marc-Andre Barriault[/autotag]’s consciousness went with it.

On the UFC Fight Night 246 main card Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Stoltzfus (16-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC) notched a violent knockout of Barriault (16-9 MMA, 5-8 UFC) at 4:28 of Round 1.

The finishing sequence started and ended in a dirty boxing clinch. Barriault seemed to be the aggressor, eagerly engaging Stoltzfus in the position. Stoltzfus obliged him, and a massive right hand smoked Barriault unconscious.

Barriault flopped to the canvas and absorbed two more massive shots, much to the dismay of his home country crowd.

The victory reentered Stoltzus into the win column and moved him to 3-3 in his most recent six outings, alternating results throughout. Saturday’s win was the third knockout victory of his career.

Barriault falls into a three-fight skid with the loss. It marked the third knockout/TKO loss of his career.

Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Dustin Stoltzfus prediction, pick, start time for UFC Fight Night 246

Marc-Andre Barriault and Dustin Stoltzfus both need wins. Which middleweight will get back on track at UFC Fight Night 246?

[autotag]Marc-Andre Barriault[/autotag] and [autotag]Dustin Stoltzfus[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC Fight Night 246 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 1-4
UFC main cards, 2024: 90-85-3

Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Dustin Stoltzfus UFC Fight Night 246 preview

Barriault (16-8 MMA, 5-7 UFC) will look to get back on the winning track after dropping his last two outings. Prior to a split decision loss against Chris Curtis and a first-round finish by Joe Pyfer, Barriault won back-to-back fights against Julian Marquez and Eryk Anders. … Stoltzfus (15-6 MMA, 2-5 UFC) will also look to return to the win column in Edmonton. The Pennsylvania native struggled to gain momentum since joining the UFC in 2020, only recording two wins in seven appearances.

Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Dustin Stoltzfus UFC Fight Night 246 expert pick, prediction

God forbid we have a main card without a middleweight fight on it, as Barriault vs. Stoltzfus appears to be the bout to scratch the UFC matchmaker’s itch this week.

Barriault, to his credit, is a fairly dependable action fighter whose durability and output tend to bring out the dog in his opposition. Stoltzfus, on the other hand, is a hit-or-miss overachiever who continues to make efforts to improve each time out.

I believe Stoltzfus will have an edge if this hits the floor, but I’m not sure his wrestling is reliable enough to get in there.

Add in the fact that Stoltzfus is making a fast turnaround on what was a vicious knockout loss last June, and I can’t help but side with Barriault in this spot.

This fight probably goes to a decision more often than not, but I’ll take Barriault to force a stoppage via strikes by Round 3.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

In a 3-round middleweight bout on the main card, Marc-Andre Barriault and Dustin Stoltzfus meet Saturday at UFC Fight Night 246 – also known as UFC on ESPN+ 104 – at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s UFC odds around the UFC Fight Night 246: Barriault vs. Stoltzfus odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

The prelims begin at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+, and the main card begins at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Records: Barriault (16-8-0) | Stoltzfus (15-6-0)

The Canadian Barriault fights in his native country looking to snap a 2-bout skid. He suffered a first-round KO/TKO last time out against Joe Pyfer at UFC 303 last time out in late June. Before that, he suffered a split-decision loss against Chris Curtis at UFC 297. His most recent win was against Eryk Anders on UFC 289 in a unanimous-decision victory.

For Stoltzfus, he was knocked out at the end of Round 1 against Brunno Ferreira in early June, and he is just 2-5 in his past 7 fights. He has tapped out twice, while losing via KO/TKO twice, and once via unanimous decision.

Stoltzfus holds a 1-inch reach advantage, although Barriault is well ahead with a 6.12-to-3.51 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Stoltzfus is slightly more accurate at 56.61%, and he is well ahead in takedown average at 2.45-to-0.21. As such, Barriault will want to avoid going to the mat, where Stoltzfus has a 1.02 submission average.

  • Will the fight go the distance? (Yes -110 | No -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

UFC Fight Night 246: Barriault vs. Stoltzfus picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Barriault (-200) will set you back 2 times your potential return if you were to play him straight up on the 2-way line. That’s too expensive straight up, so let’s get specific.

Barriault will be trying to stay upright, as Stoltzfus (+165) is at his best on the mat, and that’s where he could get the job done against the Canadian fighter.

The favorite will likely be very careful, and this could be a fight where the crowd gets a little impatient with the slow pace. BARRIAULT BY DECISION/TECHNICAL DECISION (+150) is the best way to go.

Over/Under (O/U)

YES (-110): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE? is a safe play, especially if you want a little action on the fight, and you don’t necessarily want to declare a winner.

Barriault has gone the distance in 2 of the past 3 fights, but be careful. Stoltzfus hasn’t gone the distance since July 16, 2022 against Dwight Grant, finishing inside the distance in each of his past 3 bouts.

Dustin Stoltzfus reveals fractured face, nerve damage after Brunno Ferreira’s spinning elbow KO at UFC Louisville

Dustin Stoltzfus suffered some serious damage after UFC on ESPN 57.

[autotag]Dustin Stoltzfus[/autotag] suffered some serious damage after UFC on ESPN 57.

Stoltzfus’ (15-6 MMA, 2-5 UFC) face was smashed courtesy of a spinning back elbow by [autotag]Brunno Ferreira[/autotag] (12-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in their middleweight bout this past Saturday at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

It was a wild first round where Stoltzfus was more than game to engage in a brawl with Ferreira. He had his moments, but with less than 10 seconds remaining in Round 1, Stoltzfus was sent crashing to the canvas by Ferreira, causing severe damage to his face.

Stoltzfus opened up on the loss in an Instagram post Sunday.

“Not too much to say here. I strayed from the game plan at the end of the round.

I feel like a fraud. I am better than this and I owe it to the amazing people who support me to do better. That being said, there are only so many spinning elbows to the face even my big ol’ head can take.

That being said: I’ve got a lot of healing to do. My face is fractured and I have some significant nerve damage. I don’t know when I’ll be back to training, let alone fighting.

Thankfully, the great people at the @ufc have always taken good care of me. I went out there to put on a show, now it’s time to put me back together and see what’s next.

Thank you all for the love, but I’ll probably be off socials for a while ✌️.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/C8AcXstJwrO/

With the loss, Stoltzfus has split his past four appearances. Ferreira’s past six wins have come by first-round knockout.
