UNC football vs. Duke: Game preview, info, prediction and more

We take a look at what you need to know for the UNC football program’s matchup against Duke this Saturday.

The time is almost near when we see the 5-1 North Carolina Tar Heels take on the 4-2 Duke Blue Devils.

This matchup will severely affect the Atlantic Coast Conference, as the two football programs are neck to neck for the number one spot in the standings. UNC currently holds a one-game advantage, so a win is crucial to create some space and earn more respect.

The other reason this meeting is critical for North Carolina to win is that their path to getting a spot in the ACC championship game gets more farce with the remaining schedule. UNC still has games left against Pitt, 15th-ranked NC State, and 14th-ranked Wake Forest.

North Carolina does have momentum on their side, winners of their last two games. Not only did they win those vital games, but the defense also showed up majorly, holding Virginia Tech to just 10 points and slowing down the Hurricanes in the 27-24 win.

Now, bringing that momentum on the road to face their top rivals could bring out their best performance of the season.

5 things to watch for in UNC football vs Duke matchup

As North Carolina set to hit the road against Duke, we take a look at a few key things you should know before you watch.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are preparing to battle rival Duke Blue Devils in a critical Atlantic Coast Conference meeting.

Unlike years prior, both teams head into the matchup with more to play for than just the Victory Bell, as UNC holds a one-game lead over Duke in the ACC standings. The timing couldn’t be better for North Carolina, with their defense finding its identity as of late, dominating Virginia Tech 41-10 and containing the Hurricanes in Miami 27-24 in back-to-back weeks.

Neither team has cracked the Associated Press Poll top 25, but UNC is knocking on the door after receiving the most votes this past weekend to be the next team in. A win to gain distance in the race for a shot at the ACC championship game is the key; bringing the Victory Bell back to UNC is just the icing on the cake.

We look at five things to watch for in this Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.
