Falcons WR Drake London hits notable milestone vs. Buccaneers

Drake London hit a notable milestone in the Falcons’ 36-30 win over the Buccaneers

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London hit another milestone on Thursday night in the Falcons’ 36-30 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former USC wide receiver recorded his third career game against the Buccaneers with 100 or more receiving yards. It’s the fourth overall game of London’s career since he was selected by the Falcons with the No. 8 overall pick in which he’s reached the same mark.

London finished out the game with 12 receptions for 154 yards with one touchdown, averaging 12.8 yards per catch. There was some doubt he’d reach anywhere near that number when he had to exit the game with a potential head injury early after tallying just 38 yards.

This is London’s best game of the season by a large margin. Last week, he finished out the 26-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints with six catches for 64 yards in one of his only two games this season without a touchdown reception.

His highest receiving yardage game this season since he totaled 67 receiving yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, when the Falcons fell, 22-17 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

For the season, he now has posted 32 catches on 44 targets with 354 receiving yards and two touchdowns. London will look to keep things rolling in this direction as the Falcons take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.

Drake London returns to game after being evaluated for concussion

Falcons WR Drake London returns to game after being evaluated for concussion

UPDATE: Drake London has returned to the game after being evaluated for a concussion.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London is questionable to return to Thursday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering a potential head injury.

The former USC wideout headed to the medical tent to be evaluated by team trainers for a concussion after the personal foul hit to the head and then was seen jogging off the field to the locker room.

Here’s a look at the play in which the injury occurred:

London has three receptions for 38 yards, averaging 12.7 yards per catch to this point in the game with one touchdown as the Falcons’ second-leading receiver in this contest.

He headed into TNF action with 20 catches on 31 targets for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Cornerback Dee Alford also suffered a head injury in the first quarter and has been ruled out.

Falcons QB Kirk Cousins finds wide-open Drake London for TD vs. Chiefs

WATCH: Falcons QB Kirk Cousins finds a wide-open Drake London for TD vs. Chiefs. Atlanta leads 7-0…

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a fast start in what feels like the biggest game since the team moved to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017. On the opening drive, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins went five for five for 66 passing yards before capping it off with a touchdown pass to a wide-open Drake London.

It’s London’s second game in a row with a touchdown after catching the game-winning score in Week 2. The Falcons hold a 7-0 lead over the Chiefs early in the second quarter. Watch London’s touchdown catch below, as shared by the team’s Twitter account.

Drake London fined for making controversial gesture in Falcons’ win

Drake London fined for making controversial gesture during the Falcons’ Week 2 win over the Eagles

The NFL will never be comfortable with players having too much fun and Falcons wide receiver Drake London learned this firsthand during Monday night’s thrilling win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

London caught the game-clinching touchdown pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins to put the team up 22-21 in the final seconds. After the play, the third-year wideout was penalized for making a “gun-like” gesture during his touchdown celebration.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the league has fined London $14,069 for his “unsportsmanlike conduct/violent gesture” in Monday’s victory over the Eagles. Watch the celebration for yourself below.

Atlanta’s passing game came alive on that final drive against Philadelphia in Week 2. London finished with six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown while Darnell Mooney led the team with a three-catch, 88-yard performance.

After an underwhelming game in Week 1, Cousins passed for 241 yards and two touchdowns, including that game-winning throw to London. Cousins still isn’t moving very well, but he proved to be lethal when the protection holds up.

The Falcons will have to protect their quarterback against a stout Kansas City Chiefs defense in Week 3. Sunday’s prime-time game kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Drake London catches game-winning TD on Monday Night Football

Drake London made a great move to shake an Eagle defender and score the game-winning touchdown for the Falcons on Monday Night Football.

The Atlanta Falcons stunned the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the NFL season. Atlanta walked away with a 22-21 victory on Monday Night Football. Kirk Cousins led a game-winning drive, taking the team 70 yards in 1:05. He threw a touchdown pass to Drake London to tie the game at 21 with 34 seconds left. The extra point lifted the Falcons to a shocking win. Atlanta trailed 18-15 with under two minutes left and no timeouts. The Eagles just needed to convert a 3rd and 3 from the Atlanta 10, but Saquon Barkley dropped a pass which would have converted the third down and essentially ended the game. The Eagles then chose to kick a field goal for a 21-15 lead instead of going for a first down to win the game. Atlanta and Drake London made sure Philadelphia paid a price for those mistakes.

After the Falcons took the lead, Eagle quarterback Jalen Hurts threw an interception to Jessie Bates and eventually gave the Falcons their first win of the season.

Cousins went 20-of-29 for 241 yards and two touchdowns in the win for the Falcons.

London was quiet for most of the game but ended up with 6 receptions, 54 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Atlanta Falcons are 1-1 with tons of momentum on their side, but they have another tall task as they play the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday Night Football on NBC at 8:20 p.m Eastern on Sept. 22.

Kirk Cousins helps his old team on Monday Night Football

Kirk Cousins takes down the Eagles on Monday Night Football, ensuring an early three-way tie in the NFC East.

Kirk Cousins spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the then-Washington Redskins before departing after the 2017 season to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

After six record-setting seasons in Minnesota, Cousins signed a four-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason. After a rough start to his Atlanta career in a Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cousins and the Falcons were on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Cousins played much better in his second game for the Falcons, but it looked like Atlanta was headed for an 0-2 start until Eagles running back Saquon Barkley gave his opponents a gift.

With the Eagles in the red zone, instead of running the ball and burning more clock, Philadelphia chooses to throw the ball, and quarterback Jalen Hurts found a wide-open Barkley on third-and-3. Here’s what happened:

Barkley dropped what would’ve been a game-winning first down. So, on fourth down, the Eagles kicked a field goal, taking a 21-15 lead, but Cousins and the Falcons would have one minute and 35 seconds to score a touchdown.

How would Cousins respond?

The 13th-year quarterback led the Falcons on a six-play, 70-yard drive that took just over one minute of game time before finding wide receiver Drake London in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown. Atlanta made the point-after attempt, taking a 22-21 lead.

The Eagles had one more chance, but Atlanta safety Jessie Bates intercepted Jalen Hurts to shock the Philadelphia crowd.

The Eagles fall to 1-1 and are now in a first-place tie with the Dallas Cowboys and Cousins’ old team — the Washington Commanders — for first place in the NFC East. Yes, it’s early, but you aren’t going to find any Washington fans sad to see the Eagles lose on a Monday night.

Unfortunately for the Commanders, they will be on next week’s edition of Monday Night Football against the winless and fired-up Cincinnati Bengals.

It may not last long, but Washington can enjoy first place for a few days, thanks to Cousins.

Joey Porter Jr. mocks Drake London after a lockdown performance

Joey Porter Jr. picked up right where he left off last season as the Steelers top coverage player.

Fans were once again treated to another elite performance from the Porter family name.  Drake London, wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, was supposedly due for a massive breakout year after the acquisition of free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins.  It’s fair to say that 2nd year Pittsburgh Steelers’ cornerback, Joey Porter Jr., clearly didn’t get the memo.

Joey Porter Jr. dominated Atlanta’s number one wide receiver on the field and is now in the trash-talking department as well.  If you asked JPJ, he would tell you it’s not trash talk; it’s a fact. He told Steelers reporter Dale Lolley to “check the statline” and that Drake London “did a little warm-up today.”  This is exactly the type of attitude you want out of a lockdown corner.

https://twitter.com/SteelViper45/status/1833210529529401707?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

This week Porter and the Steelers head to Denver to take on the Broncos. Porter will surely be matched up against Courtland Sutton for much of the game as he’s Denver’s top target.

Gimme Him: One player the Steelers would steal from Falcons

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London would make an excellent addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers kick off the 2024 NFL season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Here at Steelers Wire, we’re conducting a fun exercise where we hypothetically steal one player from the Falcons roster to help bolster this current roster.

Atlanta’s offense is loaded, and running back Bijan Robinson definitely was the runner-up (pun intended). Still, given Pittsburgh’s glaring need at wide receiver, we’re going with Drake London.

London, who just turned 23 in July, would be an excellent option across from George Pickens. He could use more looks in the red zone but has logged 1,711 and six touchdowns over his two-year career.

London would be a significant upgrade over Van Jefferson and help take the defense’s focus away from Pickens.

When the Steelers last faced the Falcons in 2022, the then-rookie put up 95 yards on six receptions for a 15.83 average.

Let’s hope Pittsburgh’s defense can keep London better contained this time around. Something tells me Joey Porter Jr. will have a say in that.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

WR Drake London was drafted 8th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft. The prototypical wideout (6-foot-4) has yet to produce a 1,000 yard season, but his quarterback play has been sub-par at best. Expectations are high this season with a Pro Bowl caliber triggerman in QB Kirk Cousins throwing him the rock this season in Atlanta. Below, we look at Drake London’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

London heads into his 3rd season with a major QB upgrade and a new OC in Zac Robinson, who comes from a pass-heavy LA Rams system, London should see plenty of opportunities and with the Falcons expected to contend for the NFC South title, the 23-year-old is primed for a breakout season in 2024.

Where should you draft London?

London is shaping up to be a strong fantasy pick for 2024. With the Falcons offense revolving around London, Robinson and TE Kyle Pitts, London stands out as the go-to receiver. Cousins joining the team adds a boost to London’s deep-ball opportunities, which should pay off nicely.

What makes London even more appealing is his favorable schedule, facing the 4th-easiest strength of schedule for WRs this season. The only minor downside is his Week 12 bye, but it’s not during the fantasy playoffs, so it’s manageable.

Despite the bye, London’s potential for a breakout season is too good to pass up. Chase the upside, take advantage of the schedule, and draft London with confidence early in your draft.

Falcons WR Drake London makes one-handed grab at practice

LOOK: Falcons WR Drake London makes one-handed grab at practice

If training camp practices are any indication, Falcons wide receiver Drake London could be in for a monster season. Despite subpar play from the quarterback position, the former No. 8 overall pick put together two solid years in 2022 and 2023.

London, 22, racked up 141 catches for 1,771 receiving yards and six touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons. Former Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder didn’t have much success when passing the ball but London was often his favorite target when he did.

Now that the Falcons have Kirk Cousins under center, London has a triggerman capable of getting him the ball. Will 2024 be a breakout year for Atlanta’s No. 1 wide receiver?

We’ll have to wait until the season starts on September 8 to find out. For now, check out this one-handed grab London made at Wednesday’s training camp practice:
