Former Browns LB D’Qwell Jackson promoted to pro scout

A promotion for the former star

On Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns promoted former star linebacker D’Qwell Jackson to full-time pro scout. Jackson was originally a second-round pick for the Browns in the 2006 NFL draft. He played for Cleveland from 2006 to 2013 before finishing his career in Indianapolis with the Colts.

Jackson was a tackling machine, finishing with 1,192 tackles throughout a 10-year pro career. In 2021, Cleveland honored the former linebacker by inducting him into the team’s legend program, which honored what he did on the field and in the community.

Last year in Cleveland, Jackson started his front office career, spending 2023 on the player development team before being promoted this week. It’s great to see former players continue to be a part of the team after their career is over and to see the team helping them launch a second career in football.

OTAs continue for the Browns as they approach mandatory minicamp, with training camp just around the corner.

52 days until Browns season opener: 5 players to wear 52 in Cleveland

As the countdown to the regular season continues we are D’Qwell Jackson days away

The Cleveland Browns are set to head to the Greenbrier in West Virginia in the coming days for training camp to kick off. There have been a total of 23 different players to wear the number 52 for the Browns. The first player to wear it was George Young in 1946 and he would rock the 52 through the 1951 season.

Cleveland’s seventh-round pick Dawson Deaton was set to wear the number last season before his injury and he was ultimately cut before camp this year. The most famous player to wear it since the return would be Browns ring of honor member former linebacker D’Qwell Jackson.

Former Browns LB doesn’t think Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is an every-down player

A former Browns linebacker is lower than most on a current Browns linebacker

The Cleveland Browns traded up for linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to select him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. And thus far, he has lived up to the billing of where he was selected. Now with Jim Schwartz taking over as defensive coordinator, there is reason to believe he has room for continued improvement. One former Browns’ linebacker, D’Qwell Jackson, thinks he should only be playing on passing downs though.

Appearing on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, Jackson had this to say about Owusu-Koramoah:

“He’s not a linebacker. He does not have the fundamentals to play linebacker… He’s got the skillset, he’s got the athletic ability, but he doesn’t have the discipline to play linebacker right now… he doesn’t play well with his hands, he gets lost in space, he plays too hesitant.”

Agree to disagree, D’Qwell.
