It’s always best to take time and reflect before speaking on emotional subjects, and after taking about 60 days to process his firing, Doug Pederson is ready to vent.

Pederson isn’t dwelling on his firing and during a recent sitdown with John Clark on his Takeoff podcast, the former Eagles head coach still reflects positively on the organization despite his departure following a 4-11-1 season.

“It’s water under the bridge,” Pederson said (via NBC Sports Philadelphia).

Pederson was fired three years after leading the Eagles to their first Super Bowl win and he told Clark that he would rather focus on the positives of his tenure rather than complaining about how it ended.

“I’m going out on top,” Pederson said. “I’m going out as a Super Bowl-winning head coach in Philadelphia. Hopefully, I’ll be welcomed back in the city one day, whether I’m coaching on the other sideline or just coming back to visit. I look forward to those moments.”

Pederson went on to discuss his relationship with Carson Wentz and it sounds like he’ll take the year to support his draft-eligible son, who could be on the Eagles’ radar as a tight end.

Eagles coaching search: Falcons offer head coaching job to Titans OC Arthur Smith

Falcons offer a head coaching job to Titans OC Arthur Smith, after his Thursday interview with the Eagles

The Atlanta Falcons have offered their head coaching position to Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.com.

The 38-year-old Smith has spent the last two years as the Titans’ play-caller and he’s fresh off of an interview for the Eagles’ vacant head coaching position.

Smith’s biggest accomplishment is revitalizing quarterback Ryan Tannehill, as he turned the former Dolphins first-round pick into one of the NFL’s most efficient passers while developing big-play wideouts in A.J. Brown and Corey Davis.

Another interesting name has surfaced in the Eagles head coaching search, as Ian Rapoport is reporting that Patriots inside linebackers coach, Jerod Mayo, is expected to land an interview with Philadelphia.

Mayo, 34, played for Bill Belichick in New England and the former middle linebacker is one of the young up and coming candidates in the coaching ranks.

Jeffrey Lurie on whether Duce Staley will be considered for Eagles HC job

The Philadelphia Eagles have a head coaching vacancy and running backs coach Duce Staley won’t be a token interview this time.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told Mike Kaye of NJ Advance Media that he would be in favor of running backs coach Duce Staley interviewing for the vacant head coaching job.

“I would expect Duce Staley to be a candidate,” Lurie said. “He’s a great representative of the Eagles. He knows our values, and I would expect him to be part of the search.”

The strong answer was in response to Kaye asking Lurie about his outlook on minority coaching candidates and the Eagles owner made it clear that was important to him.

Staley was passed over twice for the offensive coordinator job by Pederson after spending the bulk of his playing career here along with his entire coaching career.

Staley carries a presence and he’s someone coaches and players respect and listen to.

Staley was a running back for the Eagles from 1997 to 2003.   He joined the staff in 2011 as a special teams quality control coach. Staley eventually worked his way up to become the team’s assistant head coach and running backs coach.

If Staley is hired as a head coach, he would be the second Black coach in the team’s history, following Ray Rhodes, who was hired in 1995.

Current and former Eagles players react to Philadelphia parting ways with Doug Pederson

Former and current players reacted to Doug Pederson being out as the head coach in Philadelphia

Doug Pederson is out as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’ll always be remembered in this city for the 2017 Super Bowl.

A players coach until the end, former and current Eagles players and guys from around the NFL reacted to Pederson’s firing.

Who are the best candidates to replace Doug Pederson?

Doug Pederson is out as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Who are the best candidates to replace him?

Just years removed from bringing a Super Bowl to Philadelphia, Doug Pederson is out.

The decision was reported on Monday. Pederson had spent the day meeting with ownership about his vision for the future, and word leaked out in the afternoon that the organization had decided to go in a different direction. Given the Eagles’ roster this season expectations were high this summer in Philadelphia. But with the team winning just four games and facing questions about quarterback Carson Wentz, it seems ownership is looking for a big change.

Now, the Eagles join the hiring fray at a disadvantage, with numerous other organizations having already made a decision. Still, who are the best options to replace Pederson? They’ll probably face a big question out of the gate: What to do about Wentz?
