6 takeaways from the Jets’ Week 11 loss to the Dolphins

Joe Flacco taking over at quarterback didn’t get the Jets’ offense over the hump. Takeaways from New York’s loss to the Dolphins:

Well, at least the Jets didn’t embarrass themselves for a third straight week.

New York and the Dolphins went into the third quarter tied at 14 apiece after a 62-yard catch and run by Elijah Moore tied the score. Miami’s offense found its footing in the fourth, though, and its defense did enough to keep the Jets at bay in a 24-17 loss for Gang Green.

The Jets showed glimmers of progress against the Dolphins, but they are now 2-8 and are still in search of a winning formula. Here are six takeaways from New York’s loss to Miami.

Dolphins vs. Jets inactives: Alijah Vera-Tucker good to go in Week 11

Alijah Vera-Tucker is suiting up for the Jets against the Dolphins after being listed as questionable with a toe injury.

The Jets won’t have to go searching for a replacement for Alijah Vera-Tucker at left guard against the Dolphins, as the rookie is active after being listed as questionable with a toe injury.

Vera-Tucker was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and his status for Week 11 was never truly in doubt despite his questionable status. Nathan Shepherd is also active after being limited in practice with a knee injury during the week. Joining New York’s active roster from the practice squad for its first matchup of the season with Miami are Nick Bawden and Ronald Blair.

Rounding out Gang Green’s inactives are Zach Wilson, La’Mical Perine, Isaiah Williams, Jonathan Marshall, Tim Ward, Rachad Wildgoose and Jarrod Wilson. Wildgoose signed with the Jets earlier this week. Denzel Mims is also out and on the COVID-19 list.

As for the Dolphins, they are mostly healthy for their trip to MetLife Stadium. Linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (back) and defensive lineman Christian Wilkins (quad) are active after being listed as questionable. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (knee), linebacker Jerome Baker (knee), defensive end Elijah Campbell (toe), safety Brandon Jones (ankle), offensive lineman Robert Jones (wrist) and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (finger) were removed from the injury report and did not enter Sunday with an injury designation.

Jets are underdogs for first matchup with lowly Dolphins

Oddsmakers aren’t too high on the Jets’ chances of beating the Dolphins in Week 11.

The Dolphins have been just one game better than the sputtering Jets so far this season, but oddsmakers are not giving New York the benefit of home-field advantage when Miami comes to MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Tipico Sportsbook pegs the Jets as 3.5-point underdogs for their first matchup of the season with the Dolphins. Miami enters Week 11 fresh off a surprising win over the Ravens on Thursday Night Football last week and is riding a two-game winning streak. The Jets, meanwhile, couldn’t stop turning the ball over and couldn’t slow down the Bills’ offense in a 41-17 loss last weekend.

The Jets and the Dolphins are -110 (bet $110 to win $100) to cover their respective ends of the spread. The over/under is 44.5 and New York’s money line is +155 (bet $100 to win $155). Miami’s is -190 (bet $190 to win $100).

The Jets are hours away from returning to action after their blowout loss to the Bills in Week 10.

New York hosts a Dolphins team that is 3-7 after a two-game winning streak, although their victories over the Texans and Ravens were far from pretty.
