Rutgers football is the latest Big Ten offer for Michigan linebacker DJ White

Rutgers football offers linebacker DJ White on Tuesday.

Charles ‘DJ’ White was offered by Rutgers football on Tuesday. It is the fifth Big Ten offer for White, who is emerging as one of the top recruits in Michigan.

Rutgers now joins Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska and Purdue in offering White. A linebacker at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (West Bloomfield, Michigan), White has great length and is an athletic, flowing prospect.

He is a strong tackler and has great pursuit with a good ability to shed blockers. In run defense, White takes good angles and gets after the ball very well. He is very effective as a blitzing linebacker off the edge.

At 6-foot-3 and 192 pounds, White already has a good frame. He uses his strength well to get off blocks and make plays in the backfield. In 2023, White had 76 total tackles including eight tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles.

The class of 2025 prospect posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, about his offer from Rutgers. He tagged Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano in the post:

In addition to his now five offers from Big Ten programs, White holds offers Power Five offers from Boston College, Kansas and Pittsburgh. The offer from Pittsburgh also came on Tuesday.

Every player in Boston Celtics history who wore No. 12

Today’s installment focuses on the 34 players who wore No. 12 over the years as of September 2023.

The Boston Celtics have more retired jerseys than any other team in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean the rest of their jerseys have little history of interest tied to them.

In fact, with 17 titles to their name and decades of competitive basketball played in them, their unretired jersey numbers pack in some of the most history not hanging from the rafters of any team in the league. To that end, we have launched our accounting of that history, with every player in every jersey worn by more than one Celtics player in the storied franchise’s history accounted for.

Today’s installment focuses on the 34 players who wore No. 12 over the years as of September 2023.

Looking back at the Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry trade to the Brooklyn Nets 10 years later

The historic trade that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry, and DJ White to the Brooklyn Nets marked the end of an era for the Boston Celtics.

The historic trade that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and DJ White to the Brooklyn Nets marked the end of an era for the Boston Celtics. The Banner 17 squad was finally broken up with the deal.

Over the past 10 years, the Celtics have had substantial success, consistently making the playoffs each season save the first year of Brad Stevens’ tenure as head coach. They have achieved a high regular-season win percentage. Boston has acquired talented players such as Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving and Al Horford.

However, they have fallen short of winning another championship despite being a talented team in the years since that last era of title contention.

To take another look back at that momentous trade and all it has made possible since, take a look at the clip embedded below courtesy of NBC Sports Boston.

HoopsHype on the Boston Celtics’ 2013 Nets trade as one of the most lopsided deals ever

The trade that broke up 2008 title core has long been regarded by fans as among the most uneven ever executed in NBA history

The Boston Celtics trade that broke up the ball club’s 2008 title core by sending future Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets in the summer of 2013 has long been regarded by fans as among the most uneven ever executed in NBA history, and for good reason.

Not only did the Celtics send Garnett, Pierce, DJ White, and Jason Terry and a 2017 first round draft pick to the Nets for Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries, Kris Joseph, Gerald Wallace, andĀ three first round draft picks and two pick swaps, they also served as the now-common draft approach of rebuilding using some other team’s draft capital as well.

Such was part of the focus of a recent Hoops Hype article diving into some of the most lopsided trades in league history.

Former OKC Thunder player D.J. White to join coaching staff

D.J. White will join Mark Daigneault’s staff.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Thursday that they have added former NBA player D.J. White to their coaching staff as a video analyst.

White is the fifth former Thunder player working with the franchise in a non-playing role. The other four are Nick Collison, Nazr Mohammed, Eric Maynor and Anthony Morrow.

White played six seasons in the NBA from 2008-2014 with three different teams in the Thunder, Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats. In 138 career games, White averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 rebounds on 50.7% shooting.

White spent the first 2 1/2 seasons of his career with the Thunder after being selected 29th in the first round of the 2008 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. White was part of the inaugural Thunder team during the 2008-09 season.

Roster Churn: Cowboys release LB, DB following draft, UDFA haul

The Dallas Cowboys acquired seven new players in the draft, 15 immediately after and then signed another in free agency a few days after. With offseason roster limits at 90, they had enough room to add all of them, but realistically some players had to have been deemed replaceable once those moves were made.

So of course, there are corresponding moves on the back end, made against the backdrop of the coaches leading players through virtual offseason work to get them up to speed on the installation of the new defense and the refined offense. As such, there’s news of two players who will now be looking for work elsewhere. The club has released linebacker Chris Covington and defensive back DJ White.

Covington, from Indiana, played just 56 total snaps in 2019; 29 on special teams and 26 on defense. His release seems to be less about a numbers game as Dallas didn’t draft one and only signed Utah’s Frances Bernard in the UDFA period.

White though, is clearly caught up in a position with an influx in new talent. Dallas drafted Trevon Diggs (Alabama) in the second round and Reggie Robinson II (Tulsa) in the fourth. They then signed free agent Daryl Worley (Oakland) a few days later, on the heels of adding Maurice Canady and Saivion Smith in free agency to replace Byron Jones (Miami) and Donovan Olumba (Cleveland).

He spent time on the practice squad in 2019 and had been signed to a futures/reserve contract.
