Florida Gators freshman receiver Dionte Marks enters transfer portal

In accordance with NCAA transfer rules, he will have to sit out the 2020 season at his new school, becoming eligible to play in 2021.

After graduating four senior receivers, the position group gets even thinner heading into 2020 as redshirt freshman wideout Dionte Marks has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Marks was expected to see significant playing time this season behind experienced players like Kadarius Toney, Trevon Grimes and Jacob Copeland. Without him, UF will look to players like Rick Wells and Ja’Markis Weston to pick up backup receiver duties.

A Deland native and three-star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class, Marks committed to UF coach Dan Mullen nearly a year before National Signing Day in Feb. 2018. At Deland High School, he had 45 catches for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior year and helped lead his team to a playoff berth.

He redshirted his only season on campus at UF, appearing in two games — blowouts against FCS opponents UT Martin and Towson — but didn’t record a stat in either appearance.

In accordance with NCAA transfer rules, he will have to sit out the 2020 season at his new school, becoming eligible to play in 2021.
