Analyzing Wednesday’s Arizona Diamondbacks at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Texas Rangers (26-29) and Arizona Diamondbacks (25-29) wrap up a 2-game set Wednesday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 1-0

The Diamondbacks lost the 1st game of the series 4-2, closing as +116 underdogs. The game went under the projected total of 8. Arizona has lost 3 of its last 4 and sits 4th in the NL West. It has gone 4-6 over its last 10 games and is 12-14 on the road. Diamondbacks 2B Ketel Marte has led the team this season with 58 hits and a .270 batting average.

The Rangers won their 2nd straight game Tuesday. This win streak comes after a 6-game skid for Texas, which sits 2nd in the AL West. The Rangers have closed as underdogs in 4 of their last 5 games and are 2-3 against the spread (ATS) in that span. They are 22-33 ATS on the season.

Diamondbacks at Rangers projected starters

RHP Ryne Nelson vs. RHP Dane Dunning

Nelson (3-3, 6.03 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.83 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 in 34 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 8 ER, 11 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 13-0 home setback to Detroit Tigers May 17
  • 2024 away splits: 1-1, 3.24 ERA (16 2/3 IP, 6 ER), 22 H, 3 HR, 3 BB, 15 K in 3 starts and 1 relief appearance
  • 2023 World Series vs. Rangers: 0-0, 1.69 ERA (5 1/3 IP, 1 ER), 3 H, 0 BB, 6 K in 1 relief appearance, an 11-7 home loss Oct. 31

  • Career vs. Diamondbacks (regular season): 1-0, 2.84 ERA (6 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 6 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 1 start, a 5-4 home win July 27, 2021

Diamondbacks at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Diamondbacks 4

Moneyline

BET RANGERS (-132).

Considering its overall record, Texas has been better at home, having won 13 of 26 games. The Rangers have won 2 straight, and 5 of their 6 losses prior to these 2 victories were against strong teams in the Minnesota Twins and Phillies.

Texas has won Dunning’s last 2 starts, while the Diamondbacks have lost Nelson’s last 2. Given Nelson’s struggles over the last few weeks, take RANGERS (-132).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Diamondbacks are too expensive as run-line underdogs, especially considering Nelson’s struggles this season. The Rangers, however, are too risky to play to cover the spread, although it would be the preferred route if one is set on taking a run-line play.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 9 (-110).

Neither team has a strong starting pitcher on the mound, and that will be a key headline here. The Rangers allowed 11 runs in Dunning’s last start and have given up a total of 18 over his last 3. They topped the total in 2 of those 3 games.

Arizona, which is 5-5 O/U in its last 10, has gone Over in Nelson’s last 3 starts, giving up 22 as a team through those games. Considering those trends, back OVER 9 (-110).

Arizona Diamondbacks at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Arizona Diamondbacks at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Arizona Diamondbacks (25-28) and Texas Rangers (25-29) open a 2-game series at Globe Life Field Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Texas beat Arizona 4-1 in last year’s World Series

Arizona is coming off a 3-1 loss as a -125 home favorite vs. the Miami Marlins Sunday with the Under (9) hitting for a 4th consecutive Diamondbacks game. Arizona dropped 2 of 3 games to Miami over the weekend, scoring a total of just 4 runs during that stretch.

The Rangers avoided a 3-game sweep with a 6-2 win as +149 underdogs at the Minnesota Twins Sunday. SS Corey Seager hit 2 HRs and the total (8) pushed, ending a 3-0 run to the Under for Texas.

The Diamondbacks won last year’s regular-season series 3-1.

Diamondbacks at Rangers projected starters

RHP Brandon Pfaadt vs. RHP Dane Dunning

Pfaadt (2-3, 4.05 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.08 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 in 60 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER (3 R), 4 H, 1 BB, 7 K in 7-3 victory at Los Angeles Dodgers May 21
  • 2024 road stats: 1-1, 4.34 ERA (29 IP, 14 ER), 1.07 WHIP in 5 starts
  • 2023 World Series vs. Rangers: 0-1, 3.27 ERA (5 1/3 IP, 3 ER), 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 1 start, a 3-1 home loss Oct. 30
  • Career vs. Rangers (regular season): 0-0, 13.50 ERA (4 2/3 IP, 7 ER), 9 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 1 start, a 12-7 road victory in his MLB debut May 3, 2023

Dunning (3-3, 4.43 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 10.4 K/9 in 40 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 1/3 IP, 3 ER (5 R), 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 11-4 setback at Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday
  • 2024 home stats: 1-2, 4.41 ERA (16 1/3 IP, 8 ER), 1.04 WHIP in 3 starts
  • 2023 World Series vs. Diamondbacks: 0-0, 0.00 ERA (2 1/3 IP), 1.71 WHIP in 3 relief appearances
  • Career vs. Diamondbacks (regular season): 1-0, 2.84 ERA (6 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 6 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 1 start, a 5-4 home win July 27, 2021

Diamondbacks at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Diamondbacks 4, Rangers 3

Moneyline

The DIAMONDBACKS (-120) opening as favorites on the road over the defending World Series champs after dropping 2 of 3 against Miami shows how drastic their pitching advantage is in this series opener.

Pfaadt has given up a total of just 8 ER over his last 6 starts. Dunning has allowed 3 or more ER in 5 of his 8 starts this season and hasn’t pitched more than 5 1/3 innings in an outing since April 7.

BET DIAMONDBACKS (-120).

Run line/Against the spread

The Diamondbacks scored just a single run against Miami last time out, so betting them to win by 2 or more seems a little aggressive. However, Texas +1.5 (-160) also isn’t being offered at an attractive price.

PASS. Bet the ML and/or total instead.

Over/Under

Texas is the 3rd-best Under bet in MLB this season at 31-21-2 (59.6%). The Under is 9-3-1 in the Rangers’ last 13 games, and they’ve scored 3 or fewer runs in 7 of their last 9.

Arizona struggled to score over the weekend against Miami, which is 27th in MLB with a 4.60 team ERA, so neither offense should be trusted in this spot to help the Over hit.

BET UNDER 8.5 (+100).

World Series Game 2: Arizona Diamondbacks at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Diamondbacks at Rangers World Series Game 2 odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions, and best bets

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers play Game 2 of the 2023 World Series on Saturday. First pitch from Globe Life Field is scheduled for 8:03 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

World Series: Rangers lead 1-0

Game 1 of the World Series was amazing. The Rangers went ahead 2-0, but the Diamondbacks did a good job in the middle innings to take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 9th. That’s when Diamondbacks closer RHP Paul Sewald fell apart, as Rangers SS Corey Seager swatted a 2-run HR to tie the game 5-5. For the 1st time in the entire postseason, a game headed to extra innings.

In the 11th inning, that’s when Rangers OF Adolis Garcia took over, walking it off with a solo HR to send the crowd in Arlington into a frenzy with a 6-5 win. It was just the 2nd victory in 5 postseason home games.

The Rangers used 5 relievers with 84 pitches to get through the game, while the Diamondbacks used 6 relievers and 111 total pitches. It will be interesting to see how the bullpens fare in Game 2.

Diamondbacks at Rangers projected starters

RHP Merrill Kelly vs. LHP Jordan Montgomery

Kelly was 12-8 with a 3.29 ERA across 30 regular-season starts. He had a 1.19 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 9.5 K/9 in 177 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 8 K in 5-1 win at Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 of NLCS
  • 2023 road splits: 7-3, 4.07 ERA (84 IP, 38 ER), 11 HR in 15 starts
  • Making 4th career postseason start and 4th overall appearance

Montgomery made 32 starts in the regular season, going 10-11 with a 3.20 ERA with the Cardinals and Rangers. He had a 1.19 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 over 188 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 2 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K in 11-4 win at Houston Astros in Game 7 of ALCS
  • 2023 home splits: 7-5, 3.61 ERA (99 2/3 IP, 40 ER), 10 HR in 17 regular-season starts
  • Making 6th career postseason start and 8th overall appearance

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -118 | U: -104)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Diamondbacks at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Diamondbacks 4

Moneyline

The RANGERS (-146) got the job done in 11 innings in the series opener, and Texas should head into Game 2 with a ton of momentum and confidence. The Rangers have been favored just 3 times in the playoffs, winning twice, including 2 victories at home.

The southpaw Montgomery has done a great job in the postseason, allowing just 6 ER across 25 IP for an ERA of 2.16. He’ll have the Rangers holding a lead heading into the final few innings, rather than fighting back out of a hole like in Game 1.

Run line/Against the spread

The RANGERS -1.5 (+134) are worth playing lightly on the run line behind the southpaw.

Texas has covered the run line just once, Game 3 of the ALDS against the Baltimore Orioles. The Diamondbacks +1.5 (-162) played well in Game 1, but it taxed the bullpen hard, and it is going to be difficult to rebound.

Over/Under

The OVER 8.5 (-118) is worth playing lightly, but it may take a late miracle similar to Game 1.

The total has gone high at a 6-0-1 pace in the past 7 games for the Rangers, and Over bettors have to send Seager a thank-you note for the late homer to push it across the finish line.

The Over in the series opener snapped a 3-game Under streak for the Snakes. The Over has a 5-4 edge in 9 postseason road games for Arizona, however.

Diamondbacks at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Diamondbacks 4

Moneyline

Arizona excels with speed; the D-backs ranked 2nd in  the MLB regular season with 166 stolen bases. But Texas is a very good defensive team (as is Arizona) and does a credible job against the run.

In the regular season, Arizona averaged 4.60 runs per game while allowing 4.70, so they have figured for a while now as being too far out over their skis. The Rangers averaged 5.44 RPG while yielding 4.42; so they should have probably won 95-plus games.

In the postseason, Texas has averaged 5.92 RPG against 3.75. The Rangers just figure as a more solid run-scoring proposition. And in this game, Texas sees a right-handed starter. Against righties, the Rangers clocked a .788 OPS in the regular season (4th MLB); in the postseason they have banged out an .825 OPS against right-handers.

And the right-hander the Rangers will see in Game 1 may be up against some fatigue issues. Gallen threw 121 /13 innings in 2021 and then upped that to 184 in 2022. His combined regular and postseason innings heading into this game: 232 1/3 IP.

Eovaldi is more of a workhorse and his playoff record is excellent. In 4 postseason games this October, he has yielded 2 runs or less 3 times (allowed 3 runs the other game).

BACK THE RANGERS (-165).

Run line/Against the spread

Rested bullpens play against a Rangers RL play a bit. And this price leaves a little to be desired. PASS.

Over/Under

Arizona hurlers this October have a robust (and maybe suspect) 80.5% left-on-base rate. Mix in 2 bullpens and much of this series figures to have some Over lean. But the playoff usage patterns — the off days, the best pitching being utilized — work against that lean.

PASS in this game. Look to maybe have some partial-unit Over plays as the series develops..

The Arizona Diamondbacks (31-71) look to salvage a split of their two-game road series against the Texas Rangers (36-65) Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET at Globe Life Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Rangers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Madison Bumgarner is the projected starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks. He is 4-6 with a 5.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 in 70 2/3 IP over 14 starts.

Bumgarner has not picked up a win in his six starts since May 11, although he has a 1.64 ERA over spanning 11 IP over his last two outings.

RHP Jordan Lyles is the projected starting pitcher for the Rangers. He is 5-7 with a 5.20 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 107 1/3 IP over 19 starts and one relief appearance.

  • Against the spread/ATS: Diamondbacks -1.5 (+150) | Rangers +1.5 (-185)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Rangers 7, Diamondbacks 4

Money line (ML)

The Rangers won the series opener Tuesday, 5-4, snapping a 12-game losing skid and improving to 23-25 at home.

The Diamondbacks are now 12-41 on the road – the second-fewest road wins in the majors. Arizona has lost five of Bumgarner’s last six starts.

Take the RANGERS (-115).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Diamondbacks covered the spread on Tuesday but still have the third-worst road cover percentage at 41.5%. They covered the spread in just one game in each of their last three road series.

The Rangers are 21-27 ATS at home. They have not covered the spread in their last 13 games and have done so just twice in their last 18 games. I believe that trend ends tonight.

Take the RANGERS +1.5 (-185).

Over/Under (O/U)

Their game Tuesday went Over the 8.5 projected total. 44.4% of the games at Globe Life Field this season have gone Over the projected total.

Five of the last six games for the Diamondbacks have had totals of 9 or more runs.

Seven of the Rangers’ last 13 have finished with 9 or more runs as the total.

Take OVER 9 (-115).
