Alabama set to host several key targets for upcoming Junior Day

Alabama already had one of its Junior Day’s in January. The Tide’s next Junior Day will be this weekend and a handful of elite prospects are expected to be on campus.

Alabama will be hosting its second Junior Day this weekend. The Tide’s first Junior Day took place on the last weekend in January.

Thus far, Alabama has four commitments for the 2024 recruiting class. Cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, wide receiver Perry Thompson, edge rusher Sterling Dixon, and quarterback Julian Sayin are those committed to Alabama at this time.

With Alabama having one of its best recruiting classes in school history just last season, it will not be easy to replicate. However, the Alabama coaching staff has hit the ground running recruiting some of the nation’s top recruits in the 2024 class as well as a few in the 2025 class.

Roll Tide Wire will take a look at some of the prospects that will be in Tuscaloosa for Junior Day this upcoming weekend.

Devin Williams gave up a walk-off home run after the Brewers traded Josh Hader and baseball fans couldn’t believe it

Williams hadn’t given up a home run all year. Whoops.

Let’s get two things clear:

  1. Devin Williams is arguably the best reliever in MLB and has the stats to prove it.
  2. Baseball is so, so cruel.

On that first point, Williams had gone 30 consecutive outings without allowing a run. He’d gone all season long without giving up a homer. A sterling 1.59 ERA and 66 strikeouts on 19 walks in 39.2 innings is plenty evidence of his greatness.

It’s the type of stuff that convinced the Milwaukee Brewers to trade equally-dominant closer Josh Hader to San Diego at the deadline and move Williams into the 9th inning role.

Wednesday provided Williams with the first opportunity to show he could handle the added pressure as he entered a game tied at 7 against the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road.

It, uh, did not go well.

Wowowowow.

Ok, there’s a lot to unpack here.

That’s just the second walk-off home run of Reynolds’ career. He also hasn’t had too much luck against Williams before Wednesday, striking out three times in 12 plate appearances with just three hits—and none of them went for more than a single. Williams had previously only allowed one home run at PNC Park and that was back in 2020. Wednesday’s home run was just the third hit given up by Williams in Pittsburgh since.

And the walk-off absolutely crushed the betting public.

According to Action Network, 81 percent of all moneyline bets and 69 percent of all the money wagered on the ML was on Milwaukee.

What a brutal beat.

Milwaukee’s Devin Williams made Jorge Polanco look silly with a nasty 83 mph bendy changeup

Devin Williams’ changeups are so nasty.

Hey baseball fans, I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but pitchers these days are just pulling off some wild witchcraft on the mound, throwing pitches that simply can’t be hit by grown adults who are paid to hit baseballs for a living.

We’ve seen wild 101 mph sinkers, we’ve seen pitches have so much movement that they looked like wiffle balls, and now we have a changeup that made a professional hitter look really silly when he tried to actually make contact with the ball.

I’m talking about Milwaukee reliever Devin Williams and his 83 mph, bendy changeup on Sunday that had Twins infielder Jorge Polanco looking like this:

Rob Friedman, who’s a must-follow on Twitter, broke down that and the other changeups Williams threw on Sunday – he pitched one inning and had three strike outs. Williams’ changeups are just ridiculous.
