Auburn football lands 2026 four-star wide receiver

Auburn shoots up the 2026 recruiting rankings with its latest commitment.

Auburn football improved its 2026 recruiting class Saturday by earning the commitment of a four-star wide receiver.

[autotag]Devin Carter[/autotag], a four-star wide receiver from Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia, announced his commitment to Auburn during Saturday’s Navy All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. He chooses Auburn over LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State.

Carter led Douglas County in receiving during the 2024 season. He hauled in 41 passes for 669 yards and five scores as part of Douglas County’s semi-final run in the GHSA’s highest classification.

He is the second wide receiver commitment to commit to Auburn’s 2026 class, joining [autotag]Denarius Gray[/autotag] of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida. Auburn jumps from No. 11 to No. 6 in 247Sports’ 2026 recruiting rankings, and is now No. 3 in the SEC behind Texas A&M and Tennessee.

Carter is a 6-0, 175-pound wide receiver from Douglasville, Georgia. He is a four-star rated wide receiver by 247Sports and is the No. 29 overall recruit in the 2026 cycle according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He is the No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 4 recruit from Georgia for 2026.

Alabama included in Top 11 for elite 2026 wide receiver

Alabama has made the Top 11 for one of the top receivers in the 2026 class.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been included in the list of 11 finalists for one of the nation’s premier wide receivers in the 2026 class, Devin Carter.

Announced on Thursday afternoon, the Crimson Tide were also joined by the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Carter ranks as the nation’s No. 21 overall player in the 2026 class, as well as No. 2 prospect in the state of Georgia where he attends Douglas County High School. Carter, a five-star prospect, is also considered as the No. 3 overall wide receiver in the class.

At the moment, Alabama’s 2026 class holds only two commitments total, and ranks No. 22 overall nationally. Those two commitments are a pair of four-star prospects in cornerback Dorian Barney and defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, and if Carter were to commit to Alabama, then he would be the highest-ranked in the Crimson Tide’s class.

Thanks to a handful of moves on Friday, the Carolina Panthers will look slightly different at “Back Together Saturday.”

The team announced the additions of four players yesterday afternoon—wide receiver Devin Carter, tight end Feleipe Franks, outside linebacker Kemoko Turay and cornerback Kinodre Thomas. To make room for the signings, they placed veteran wideout Cam Sims on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and waived receiver Sam Pinckney, offensive lineman Christian Duffie and safety Clayton Isbell.

So, let’s take another updated look at Carolina’s current training camp roster:

The Panthers added a handful of help on Friday.

The Carolina Panthers officially added a handful of players on Friday.

As announced this afternoon, the team has signed four free agents—wide receiver Devin Carter, tight end Feleipe Franks, outside linebacker Kemoko Turay and cornerback Kiondre Thomas.

Turay, whose signing was first reported on by Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston this morning, emerges out of a pass-rushing group that included a few notable tryouts. Carolina also hosted looks for 2017 Pro Bowler Yannick Ngakoue, former Cincinnati Bengal and New York Jet Carl Lawson and Marquis Haynes Sr.—who has spent each of his six NFL campaigns with the Panthers.

The 6-foot-5, 248-pounder was a second-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He’s amassed 12.0 career sacks, as well as short stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons, over five seasons.

To make room for the bunch, the Panthers placed veteran wideout Cam Sims on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and waived receiver Sam Pinckney, offensive lineman Christian Duffie and safety Clayton Isbell.

Kings’ Devin Carter is expected to miss 6 months after shoulder surgery

Kings rookie Devin Carter is expected to miss approximately six months after undergoing left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Sacramento Kings rookie Devin Carter is expected to miss approximately six months after undergoing left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, the team announced.

Carter, the 13th pick in the NBA draft, underwent the procedure by Dr. Harlan Selesnick at the Baptist Health Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida. He will begin the rehabilitation process and is expected to make a full recovery.

He appeared to hint on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he dealt with the injury throughout this past season at Providence. He will now miss the start of the season as he recovers from the injury.

Carter, the son of former 13-year NBA veteran Anthony Carter, averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals on 47.3% shooting from the field as a junior. He led the conference in scoring and finished 10th in the country in defensive rebounds (253).

The 22-year-old was considered one of the top defenders in the country and was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year watchlist in February. He ranked 10th in the country in defensive win shares (2.7) and 14th in defensive box plus-minus (plus-4.9).

After selecting Carter, the Kings also added undrafted free agents Fardaws Aimaq, Isaiah Crawford, Boogie Ellis and Isaac Jones. Crawford and Jones were signed to two-way contracts.

Report: Kings rookie Devin Carter to undergo left shoulder surgery

Kings rookie Devin Carter is reportedly expected to undergo surgery on his left shoulder next week.

Sacramento Kings rookie Devin Carter is reportedly expected to undergo surgery on his left shoulder next week, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Carter dealt with the injury throughout the predraft process, which will prevent him from playing in summer league. He is expected to make a full recovery, though could miss the start of next season after recovering from surgery.

The 13th pick worked out with at least seven teams ahead of the draft and proved himself as a lock to be a lottery pick. The injury likely wasn’t red-flagged and didn’t appear to hurt his draft stock after going to the Kings in the lottery.

Carter, the son of former 13-year NBA veteran Anthony Carter, averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals on 47.3% shooting from the field as a junior at Providence. He led the conference in scoring and finished 10th in the country in defensive rebounds (253).

Projected lottery pick Devin Carter dealing with shoulder injury ahead of draft

Former Providence guard Devin Carter is reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury ahead of the draft.

Former Providence guard Devin Carter is reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury ahead of the 2024 NBA draft, according to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report.

Carter, the son of former 13-year NBA veteran Anthony Carter, averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals on 47.3% shooting from the field. He led the conference in scoring and finished 10th in the country in defensive rebounds (253).

The 22-year-old began the year viewed as a potential second-round pick. He improved his draft stock and is now projected to be selected in the lottery following a strong junior campaign and showing at the combine last month.

Sources tell Bleacher Report that Devin Carter is dealing with a shoulder injury, though it’s unclear how much it will affect his stock. If it’s not red-flagged, he should be in play in the Nos. 8-13 range.

Carter worked out with at least seven teams throughout the predraft process and proved himself as a lock to be a lottery pick, so it appears as though his injury likely won’t significantly hurt his draft stock in the first round on Wednesday.

He is considered one of the top perimeter defenders in the draft and has garnered interest from several teams, including the San Antonio Spurs. He was also reportedly said to have received a draft promise from a team in the lottery.

Carter expanded his offensive game this past season by improving his 3-point percentage from 29.9% to 37.7% on 6.8 attempts per game. He projects to fill several needs for teams in the first half of the draft and could develop into an impactful player at the next level.

Lakers could move up in draft to target two specific prospects

The Lakers could end up being very aggressive during the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.

For months, there have been rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers will be aggressive during the 2024 NBA Draft in an effort to improve their roster. One thing they may look to do is dangle up to three first-round picks in front of another team in order to get it to part with a star guard such as Donovan Mitchell, Trae Young or Dejounte Murray.

Another option Los Angeles has is to move up from the No. 17 pick in order to nab a prospect who it feels could become a difference-maker. If such a move yields the right player, it could be a very prudent one, especially given that the NBA’s salary cap has become even more restrictive, placing even more of a premium on drafting well.

If L.A. does move up in the draft, which starts on Wednesday, it reportedly has two specific prospects in mind.

Via Los Angeles Times:

“Some rival executives believe the Lakers could be aggressive in moving up in the first round,” wrote Dan Woike. “Two players they like, Providence’s Devin Carter and Baylor’s Ja’Kobe Walter, are expected to be picked ahead of No. 17.”

Carter is a 6-foot-2 guard who has a wingspan of over 6-foot-8 and is very aggressive, especially when it comes to taking the ball to the basket and guarding opposing point guards. He was also a very good rebounder in college, and that is an aspect of the game the Lakers badly need help with.

Walter, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, has a nice mid-range game and could have potential as an outside shooter. However, he shot just 37.6% from the field and 34.1% from 3-point range this season.

Rob Dillingham is among the second group of players invited to the draft green room

Dillingham conducted his required combine testing on Friday, clearing the way for him to become eligible to be selected in the draft.

Former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham reportedly conducted his required combine testing, clearing the way for him to become eligible to be selected in the 2024 NBA draft.

Dillingham wasn’t able to participate in on-court testing last month at the combine because of an ankle injury. He was cleared this week from the injury and completed the requirements in front of teams on Friday at the Los Angeles Lakers‘ practice facility.

The 19-year-old was among the second group of prospects who received invitations from the NBA to attend the draft in the green room on June 26-27 at the Barlcays Center in Brooklyn, New York, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Teams with first-round picks each year vote on the players they believe will be drafted early, typically the top 20-25 prospects. Last year, 25 prospects were invited to the green room and only one wasn’t selected in the first round (Rayan Rupert, 43rd overall pick).

Included in the second batch of invitations were Serbian guard Nikola Topić, Duke players Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski, Miami forward Kyshawn George, USC guard Isaiah Collier, Baylor center Yves Missi and Kansas forward Johnny Furphy.

The first group of players invited to the green room included French players Zaccharie Risacher, Alex Sarr and Tidjane Salaün; UConn players Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle; G League Ignite players Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland; and Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard.

Rumor: Spurs high on Providence guard Devin Carter ahead of draft

Carter could be a potential target of the Spurs, as the organization is said to be interested in him.

Former Providence guard Devin Carter is projected to be drafted in the lottery, and the Big East Player of the Year is drawing interest from several teams near the top of the draft board.

Carter, the son of former 13-year NBA veteran Anthony Carter, averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals on 47.3% shooting from the field in 33 games. He led the conference in scoring and finished 10th in the country in defensive rebounds (253).

The 22-year-old emerged began the year viewed as a potential second-round pick. He has since improved his draft stock following a strong junior campaign and showing at the combine and even reportedly received a lottery promise from a team.

Carter could be a potential target of the San Antonio Spurs, as the organization is said to be interested in him, according to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report.

Sources say the San Antonio Spurs are high on Devin Carter, who just completed workouts with the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls.

The Spurs have two lottery picks (Nos. 4 and 8) this year and have been linked to several prospects. They have even been rumored to want to package those two picks to move up and go after a player ranked higher on their draft board.

Carter was considered one of the top defenders in the country and was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year watchlist in February. He ranked 10th in the country in defensive win shares (2.7) and 14th in defensive box plus-minus (plus-4.9).

The 6-foot-3 guard expanded his offensive game this past season by improving his 3-point percentage from 29.9% to 37.7% on 6.8 attempts per game. He projects to fill several needs for teams in the first half of the draft and could develop into an impactful player at the next level.

The 2024 NBA draft will take place June 26-27 in New York City.
