The Eagles agenda is simple, win the next four divisional games, including the blockbuster at home against Dallas in two-weeks and they’re in the tournament. Getting into the playoffs has its advantages, especially if a healthy DeSean Jackson can return just in time for a Wild Card matchup against the Niners or Seahawks.

Jackson suffered a torn abdominal muscle during the Eagles win against the Chicago Bears and was placed on injured reserve after having surgery. With a six-week timetable for recovery, the Wild Card round was Jackson’s target return date.

In a video posted by ABC’s Jeff Skversky via Jackson’s Instagram story, the Eagles star updated his rehab and looks strong with a month out of his possible return.

Jackson originally declined surgery after suffering an abdominal strain in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons and Eagles fans were tormented for weeks about his possible return date.

With the surgery now complete and Jackson having the opportunity to possibly return for a playoff run, things could start to look up for the Eagles, they just have to get through the next month.

Alshon Jeffery expected to play vs. Seahawks

Despite a nagging ankle injury that has affected his play and his calf at times, Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) has not been cleared for contact yet and is not expected to play according to Adam Schefter. Wide receiver Nelson Agholor (knee) is not expected to play as well.

For the Seahawks, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney met with a back specialist in Philadelphia ahead of Sunday’s tilt versus the Eagles and he’ll be a game-time decision.

The Philadelphia Eagles have promoted wide receiver, Greg Ward up from the practice squad to the active roster. To make room on the roster for Ward, the Eagles placed safety Rudy Ford on injured reserve.

Ward was promoted to the active roster in Week 3 and played 13 offensive snaps against the Detroit Lions in a loss. A former college quarterback at Houston, Ward has spent the week impersonating Russell Wilson of the Seahawks, the Eagles opponent on Sunday.

Both Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor are battling injuries and Ward could help provide the Eagles with a consistent deep threat.

Miles Sanders now 3rd player in Eagles history to accomplish this feat

Miles Sanders has 1,000+ all-purpose yards in 1st 10 career NFL games

Miles Sanders isn’t dominating the Eagles rushing attack but the former Penn State star has cemented his status in team history.

Even with the loss to the Patriots, Sanders joined some distinguished company in Eagles franchise history. Miles Sanders became the third player in Eagles franchise history to gain 1,000 all-purpose yards in his first 10 career games.

So far through ten games, Sanders has 1,002 yards, 374 rushing yards, 314 receiving yards, 314 kick return yards thus far.

The other two Eagles to accomplish the feat, DeSean Jackson (1,085 all-purpose yards in 2008) and Ted Dean (1,066 all-purpose yards in 1960) had successful careers. Dean went on to win an NFL championship in 1960.

Sanders currently ranks 10th in the NFL in all-purpose yards and is the only player in the NFL with at least 300 rushing yards, 300 receiving yards and 300 kick return yards.

Eagles could have interest in WR Antonio Callaway after release from Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles could have interest in wide receiver Antonio Callaway after his release from the Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles have a need for speed on the outside, and the Cleveland Browns just got rid of a wide receiver with plenty of it. On Thursday, the Browns released wide receiver Antonio Callaway.

A perceived problem child, Callaway served a four-game suspension to start the season after a violation of the league’s policy and program for substances of abuse.

The former Florida Gators star is talented, which is why Browns general manager John Dorsey took a risk on him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft, despite Callaway’s past off-field transgressions.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN.com, Callaway had run of chances in Cleveland.

They say culture makes a locker room, and his struggles in Cleveland could easily be reversed in a locker room that offers quality leadership and accountability, while also being one of the gold standard organizations in the NFL.

Callaway will have to go through the waiver process, but he could definitely be an option for Howie Roseman and the Eagles.

Callaway has eight catches for 89 yards in four games (two starts) in 2019.

Update:

The Eagles and other teams around the league are likely to pass on Callaway after Ian Rapoport just reported that the former Browns wideout is facing a 10-game suspension.

Eagles’ Injury Update: Cre’Von LeBlanc, Nigel Bradham nearing return

Doug Pederson provides an update on DeSean Jackson, Cre’Von LeBlanc and more

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to get back two more significant pieces to the defense as the Birds look to be finally rounding into form health-wise. Doug Pederson addressed the media on Wednesday and addressed the lingering injuries for several players.

Alshon Jeffery was listed as “day-to-day” coming out of the bye week after he suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s win over the Chicago Bears.

Pederson then revealed that left tackle Jason Peters had arthroscopic knee surgery after leaving the Week 6 loss at the Minnesota Vikings. Rookie Andre Dillard has started in his place over the past three games and performed well, but Peters is expected to regain his starting job upon being cleared.

“He should be out there today at practice,” Pederson said. “I fully expect him to — he’ll practice today, and obviously we’ll see where he’s at at the end of the week.”

Linebacker Nigel Bradham (ankle) is expected to be limited during workouts, Pederson said there is a chance he could play this week.

Cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc (foot), remains on injured reserve but has been eligible to return since Week 9.

Pederson stated that he’ll continue to rehab before returning to practice.

Doug Pederson met with the media on Wednesday and revealed what many already knew, that Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is “still sore” and “day-to-day,” after suffering an ankle injury in the team’s win over the Bears in Week 9.

Jeffery has been banged up this season and has 34 catches for 353 receiving yards and three touchdowns in eight games. Jeffery is averaging career lows in yards per target (6.4 yards) and yards per reception (10.4 yards).

The Eagles are already dealing with the loss of DeSean Jackson and would be in dire straights without Jeffery on the outside.

Watch: Eagles WR DeSean Jackson lightly jogging 1-week after abdominal surgery

Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver DeSean Jackson lightly jogging 1-week after abdominal surgery

If DeSean Jackson’s 2019 season is indeed over having core muscle surgery, the Eagles star wide receiver isn’t acting like it. Hoping to get back for the playoffs, Jackson has already started lightly jogging one week after having surgery on his abdominal area.

Jackson was initially given a four to six week recovery period and even if he takes the normal eight weeks for core muscle recovery, he could still possibly return for an Eagles playoff run if the team handles its business in his absence.

Eagles Wire discussion forum: Can Philadelphia make a playoff run without a true deep threat on the perimeter?

Can the Eagles make a playoff run without a true deep threat on the perimeter?

With the news that DeSean Jackson’s core muscle surgery will keep him out until at least the playoffs, the question has to be asked, can the Philadelphia Eagles make a lengthy playoff run without a true deep threat?

During the season opener, Jackson went off, catching two 50+ yard touchdowns and displaying the threatening deep speed that keeps coordinators up at night. Without Jackson, the Eagles are one of the worst in the NFL at pushing the ball downfield.

Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor have both underperformed at times, but Agholor’s inability to be a deep threat is most concerning. Mack Hollins has gone 200 offensive snaps without a catch, while JJ Arcega-Whiteside can’t get on the field. Eagles wide receivers have combined for 719 yards since Week 2, while the receiving corps rank 32nd in receiving yards per target, 31st in yards per reception and 30th in yards after the catch per The Athletic.

Jordan Matthews was recently signed, but he’s more of a possession style wide receiver and it’ll be interesting to see just how much of an effect he’ll have on the deep passing game.
