WATCH: Texas edge commit Derrick Brown makes incredible catch

His main job may be rushing the passer, but Derrick Brown has been lining up at WR. You can watch his incredible catch from Thursday here.

Much of the rave over the past two weeks has been Texas’ defensive line commitments. Especially at the edge position.

Justice Finkley and J’Mond Tapp’s recruitments were both won in the heart of SEC country by Bo Daivs. Only one has been found from within the state in four-star Derrick Brown.

His main job may be rushing the passer, but Brown has lined up as a wide receiver for Texarkana Texas High School early on this season. On Thursday against Forney, the Tigers were deep in the red zone and threw a fade route to the Longhorn commit.

Brown absolutely mossed the defensive back, tying the game at 13 just before the halftime whistle.

You can watch the play here:

Texas High School ended up pulling away in the second half, beating Forney 34-13 on the road. Brown’s only reception of the game was the touchdown catch.

Making great plays in the endzone has become a habit for Brown. He made a similar catch in Week 2 but had two defenders all over him.

Maybe it’s time Andre Coleman begins to scout Brown as a wide receiver for the ’22 class. Him and Armani Winfield would make quite the tandem in Austin next season.
