Auburn analyst and former All-American offensive lineman [autotag]Kendall Simmons[/autotag] is taking the next step in his coaching career. On Sunday, he announced he had been hired as the offensive line coach at Middle Tennessee State.
“Auburn will always be in my heart,” Simmons wrote on social media. “I am thankful for every coach I’ve had the opportunity to work with since 2019 who’ve allowed me to learn and serve in a place I love. I am blessed!”
Simmons has been an analyst at Auburn since 2019, he served as Auburn’s interim offensive line coach during the final four games of the 2022 season when Will Friend became the offensive coordinator.
The move will reunite him with former Auburn defensive coordinator[autotag] Dereck Mason[/autotag], who was on the same staff as Simmons in 2021 under Bryan Harsin.
Simmons started his football career at Auburn, starting 36 games from 1997-2001 and was a third-team All-American in 2000. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft and won two Super Bowls with them during an eight-year career.
