Demetric Felton Jr. loses RB3 job and roster spot

Felton is no longer a Brown.

The Cleveland Browns continue their cuts ahead of the 4:00 EST deadline as they take the ax to the running back room. The Browns announced the release of running back Demetric Felton Jr. during a flurry of roster moves.

Felton was drafted by the team in the sixth round in the 2021 draft. Lauded for his versatility by the team, the running back was primarily used as a wide receiver early in his career. The Browns sought to get the ball in the hands of the shifty talent, using him as a return specialist, where he received All-Rookie Team honors from the PFWA. Felton would become a jack of all trades, master of none, making this roster move unsurprising.

Felton Jr. has an uncanny ability to make would-be tacklers miss in close quarters. However, his size and lack of top-end speed have so far limited his role. I could see the Browns being interested in him returning to the team’s practice squad. He can become an NFL contributor if he can learn to master a position.

Browns: 15 players on the fringes of making the final 53-man roster

There are roster locks, those probable to make the roster, and those on the fringes.

There are those players who are absolute locks to make the roster, there are those who are highly probable to make the roster, and then there are those currently sitting on the 90-man roster of the Cleveland Browns who are on the fringes. We have covered the first two categories, so now we hit on those players, highlighted by running back Demetric Felton Jr. and wide receiver Jakeem Grant Sr., who currently sit on the fringes of the roster in Cleveland.

There are 15 players in total, battling for about seven roster spots, that sit on the fringes of the 90-man roster. Here they are.
