Blue-chip RB schedules another trip to UF, official visit up next

Four-star running back Treyaun Webb has called Florida the leader in his recruitment already, but the Gators want him back on campus for another visit.

One of the top targets on Florida’s recruiting board is Trinity Christian (Jacksonville, Florida) running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag]. [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] has done well to get him on campus three times over the spring, and the four-star recruit is set to make another unofficial visit to the Swamp later this month, according to 247Sports.

Webb will return to Gainesville on May 21 with Florida as the likely leader in his recruitment. He placed UF at the top of things following his spring visits and not much has changed to remove them from that position.

“Florida is probably my leader in my recruitment for a while now,” Webb said. “That’s kind of where it’s at in my recruiting right now, Florida’s always been my leader, really.”

The last time he was in town, Webb sat down with a good portion of the staff in Napier’s office to shoot the breeze and get to know each other. Of course, the coaches worked in recruiting pitches as often as possible and Webb left that visit clear of one thing: whatever the other schools had to offer could be found at Florida without having to leave home.

“Florida used to be a factor like ‘Bama and Clemson because they kept the Florida talent in the state,” he said. “They let that go for a couple of years, but now that Napier is here, his message is that he’s trying to recruit the major cities – Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami. He thinks that kids are going to want to play harder for their hometown. So, anything I can find at ‘Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, I can find there. NIL. Early playing time. They are going to show me love because I’m a hometown kid and my cousin went there. So, that’s a plus.”

Former Gator [autotag]Dee Webb[/autotag] is Treyaun’s cousin mentioned in the quote above. He played for UF from 2003 to 2005 and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent over a decade in the professional space with several Arena Football League teams.

If that’s an angle Florida can work, then Napier and Co. should go for it. Webb is the No. 5 running back in the class of 2023, according to the 247 Sports composite, and the No. 116 overall recruit. It seems like he’s Florida’s to lose at this point, but anything can happen in the wild world of recruiting.

He has a slew of visits in the works for June that could shake things up before his planned June 30 commitment date. Florida, Penn State, Tennessee and South Carolina should get him on official visits in that order over each weekend of the month.

Florida now leads for this 4-star RB after visit to Orange and Blue game

Four-star running back Treyaun Webb named Florida his leader after his latest visit to see the Gators.

Four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] named Florida his leader, following his visit to its Orange and Blue game on Thursday.

Webb is a legacy recruit for the Gators. His cousin is none other than Gator great [autotag]Dee Webb[/autotag]. The younger Webb hails from nearby Jacksonville, Florida, and is ranked 115th overall and as the fifth-best running back, according to the 247Sports composite.

Webb said he’s thankful head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] moved the spring game to Thursday from Saturday because he wouldn’t have been able to make it during the weekend. He told 247Sports that the visit went well and he liked how a lot of fans recognized him even though he’s just a high school football recruit.

“The fans were amazing,” he said. “I feel like Florida is the only place where I can really go — either Florida or South Carolina, well I haven’t been to South Carolina yet — as far as I can go and walk around, feel comfortable like it’s my home. I can walk around, basically do anything I want. It’s basically home away from home. Fans, everything. The staff, they treat me like I’m one of their own.

“Anything I can look for in a school, I’ve got it in my back yard. It’s that overall feeling, that home feeling, I can go there, feel comfortable just walking around, talking to fans. The fans is crazy. I’ve never felt love from any fans (like that). It feels good going to a place where fans know you, take picture with you. You’ve got little kids looking up to you and stuff like that, I like that.”

Florida sits in the best spot in Webb’s recruitment along with South Carolina. He plans to take official visits to the Swamp and Columbia as well as Tennessee and Penn State in June before making a commitment during the last few days of the month.

“Florida is probably my leader in my recruitment for a while now,” Webb said. “That’s kind of where it’s at in my recruiting right now; Florida’s always been my leader, really.”

Napier and running backs coach [autotag]Jabbar Juluke[/autotag] have done an excellent job in Webb’s recruitment after Florida was an afterthought under former head coach [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag].

Florida’s pursuit of 4-star legacy running back includes his cousin

Florida impressed four-star running back Treyaun Webb and his cousin and Gator Great Dee Webb on latest visit.

Four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] has visited Florida several times since the new coaching staff has taken over. This time it was special because his cousin, former Gator great Dee Webb, accompanied him on the visit.

“It was great,” Webb told Swamp247 about his latest visit. “I finally got a chance to get up there with my cousin, and they showed a lot of love to me and him. Every time I go up there, they show me how amazing it is. They tell me how important it is to play in front of your home team and your home crowd. That is the biggest thing they pitch to me.”

Webb said he really liked having Dee around him on his latest visit. He appreciates how much love the coaching staff showed his cousin. He said Dee enjoyed it because he got a much warmer welcome compared to the one he received from the old regime.

After the Gators were an afterthought in Webb’s recruitment under former coach [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag], Florida has made a massive comeback to become the favorite for his pledge. Both of Florida’s recruiting reporters for 247Sports released crystal ball predictions for the Gators with a confidence of seven on Saturday.

Florida continues to stand out in his recruitment because he feels like the whole coaching staff is constantly recruiting him. He put out a tweet on Saturday saying, “Why Not Florida,” then a couple of hours later the rest of the Gators staff tweeted the same thing.

“I was just as surprised as everyone else. I put that tweet out and then next thing I know someone called me and asked if I had seen Twitter. So I go check my timeline and I see my tweet and then I see the whole staff tweeting the same thing. I thought that was so crazy. The little things like that is what makes Florida a school I like so much. The way I feel, I just don’t think you can get much better than Florida.”

It seems like Webb will likely become a Gator, and that it’s a matter of when and not if at this point.

Florida receives two crystal ball predictions for legacy 4-star RB

When could Florida see four-star running back Treyaun Webb hop on board after these crystal ball predictions?

Four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag] said after one of his visits earlier this month that he thought about committing to Florida before departing campus. Webb and his cousin and former star Gators cornerback [autotag]Dee Webb[/autotag] visited the Swamp again this past weekend.

247Sports’ Florida recruiting reporters Blake Alderman and Jacob Rudner have opted to submit crystal ball predictions with high confidence of seven for Webb after another strong visit to the Gators this weekend.

Webb hails from nearby Jacksonville, Florida, and plays for Trinity Christian that have produced players like Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade, Florida wide receiver [autotag]Marcus Burke[/autotag], Florida State and Indiana receiver D.J. Matthews Jr. recently. The 247Sports composite rankings have Webb as the 116th overall prospect and as the fifth-best running back in the country.

Coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] had his work cut out for him once he took over the Gators program. Florida was an afterthought for Webb under previous head coach [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag]. They quickly surged up his leaderboard and became the favorite.

Napier and running backs coach [autotag]Jabbar Juluke[/autotag] want to take two tailbacks this cycle. The top target on their board is [autotag]Cedric Baxter Jr.[/autotag] and would love to couple him with Webb.
