View some of the best photos of Aggies from Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season

The 2024 NFL season has officially started, and over two dozen former Texas A&M players are currently on 53-man rosters across the league.

As the season gets underway, we’ll start selecting the best performances each week to highlight the top players who once sported the Maroon & White on Saturdays. However, we just wanted to provide the fans with photos captured over the weekend.

Every Aggie is not represented in this gallery but there are great shots from veteran and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans to rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper. Making it to the National Football League is something few athletes will achieve, and we want to wish every Aggie in the NFL a safe and healthy season.

It was an amazing opening week for these former Aggies, and you can check out some of the action shots from week 1 of the NFL season.

Miami Dolphins RB De’Von Achane speaks on his expanded role in year two

De’Von Achane speaks on how his role in the Miami Dolphins might increase in the upcoming season

Miami Dolphins speedster De’Von Achane was just a few yards shy of 1,000 total yards on only 130 touches. He was part of one of the fastest offenses in the NFL that made them a threat to score from anywhere on the field, and Achane made his mark early in the season.

In weeks three through five, he averaged over 11 yards a carry and ran for 455 yards. He was working his way into the Rookie of the Year talks until an injury sidelined him for five of the next six games. While he didn’t finish as strong as he started, his speed is undeniable, and it appears the Dolphins have a plan to get the ball in the hands of Achane in multiple ways.

Below are Achane’s stats from his rookie season in the NFL.

Rushing – 103 carriers / 800 yards / 7.8 avg

Receiving – 197 receptions / 197 yards / 7.3 avg

Total Touchdowns – 11

Best Photos: Top Aggie performances from Week 18 of the NFL season

Texas A&M was well represented in Week 18 of the NFL, and we have some of the best photos for you to check out

The regular season is complete, and the post-season picture is clear. As we look forward to the playoffs, I’d like to take some time to recognize a few top week 18 performances from Aggies in the NFL.

Donovan Wilson Has been coming on nicely after a bit of a slow start to the season. He had another solid game and notched his second straight game with a timely interception. His play helped the Cowboys blow out the Washington Commanders, securing the NFC #2 seed and home-field advantage to start the playoffs.

  • 5 tackles / 1 interception / 1 PD

Miami rookie running back De’Von Achane didn’t fill the stat sheet, but they still have a few dynamic runs and averaged over five yards a carry. He completed the season just shy of 1,000 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns. The Dolphins did not get the win, but they will still be in the playoffs.

  • 56 yards / 5.6 average / 1 touchdown

For the first time this season, Ryan Tannehill makes the list. He spent the back half of the season as a backup to Will Levis, but an injury put him back in the starting lineup, which likely were his last few games in Tennessee.

  • 65.4 completion % / 168 yards / 2 touchdowns

Another great week for these former Aggies, and you can check out some of the best photos from week 18.

Miami Dolphins RB De’Von Achane is set to return this Sunday vs. the Las Vegas Raiders

It has been reported that former Texas A&M and current Miami RB De’Von Achane is set to return to action against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.

Former Texas A&M standout running back De’Von Achane set the NFL world on fire during the first four games of his 2023 rookie season with the Miami Dolphins, amassing 460 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and an average of 12.1 yards per rush attempt.

After just one carry in the Dolphins 24-17 Week 2 win vs. New England, Achane absolutely exploded on the scene against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, accounting for 233 total yards, including 203 rushing and four touchdowns through the air and on the ground.

After rushing for 101 yards in the loss to Buffalo a week after, Achane’s snap count heavily increased. Still, after amassing an impressive 151 yards on the ground against the New York Giants on Oct. 8, the rookie standout sustained a significant knee injury that has now sidelined him for the past four games, as the Dolphins currently sit at 6-3.

However, according to Bleacher Report NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Achane is set to return for the first in more than a month against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 19. Since his injury, Miami is 2-2 with losses to Philadelphia and Kansas City, in dire need to Achane’s dynamic track speed and versatility to further open up the offense and provide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa yet another weapon in the open field.

Best Photos: Top Aggie performance in Week 5 of the NFL season

Texas A&M was well represented in Week 5 of the NFL, and we have some of the best photos for you to check out

Football season is in full swing, and we are past the quarter mark of the regular schedule. As we look forward to the rest of the games this week, I’d like to take some time to recognize a few top week-five performances from Aggies in the NFL.

For the third consecutive week, Miami running back De’Von Achane reached the endzone for his fifth rushing touchdown on the season. Also, to nobody’s surprise, Achane had another huge 76-yard touchdown run that had the defenders stuck in the mud, keeping his per-carry average north of 11 yards. Unfortunately, he was slightly nicked up in the game, leaving him doubtful for week six. Here are his stats from the 31-16 win against the New York Giants.

  • 11 carries / 151 yards / 13.7 avg / 1 touchdowns
  • One catches / 14 yards /14 avg

Next, we have veteran wideout Josh Reynolds of the Detroit Lions. The 7-year pro is having an efficient start to the season and followed up a decent outing last week with a better one on Sunday. Here are his stats from the 42-24 win over the Carolina Panthers.

  • Four catches / 76 yards / 19 avg / one touchdown

In a change of pace this week, one of the top performances came from a head coach who was a former Texas A&M tight end. That’s the Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell. His team has bought into what he is selling and looks very impressive five weeks in. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta is also off to a historic start for the Lions under the tutelage of Campbell. The dominant win over the Panthers on Sunday solidifies his recent contract extension, giving hope for a bright future.

  • 42-24 win over the Carolina Panthers
  • 4-1 (1st NFC North)
  • 3-game winning streak
  • +41-point differential (3rd NFC)

Another great week for these former Aggies, and you can check out some of the best photos from week five.

Former Aggie running back De’Von Achane is starting to look like the steal of the 2023 NFL draft

De’Von Achane shows no signs of slowing down as as he helps lead the Miami Dolphins to a 4-1 start

There hasn’t been a Sunday in the past few weeks where rookie Dolphins running back De’Von Achane did not produce a highlight running through a defense. His early season stats are unreal as he makes his case to be considered as Rookie of the Year.

Even after not playing much in the first two games, Achane has stormed onto the scene in a major way being one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL. After a 151-yard day against the Giants on only 11 carries he pushed his per-carry average to a staggering 12.1 yards. That would be a great stat for a wide receiver, but for it to be coming from an undersized third-round running back is amazing.

Here are the numbers that point to how much of a threat he is when he gets the ball in his hands.

  • 38 attempts (34th in NFL)
  • 460 rushing yards (2nd in NFL)
  • 12.1 yards per carry (1st in NFL)
  • 5 rushing touchdowns (5th in NFL)

Achane is the perfect fit in Miami where they want to play fast and put an extreme amount of pressure on opposing defenses. They already have the fastest team according to NextGen Stats where the Miami Dolphins holding six of the top ten spots. Within that 10, Achane hit speeds of 21.93, 21.76, and 21.5 with only his teammate Tyreek Hill edging him out at 22.01 for the top spot.

In a playful jab at his fellow track star Achane took a shot at Hill being caught from behind on Sunday with speaking with Cameron Wolfe from the NFL Network

Rookie of the Year will be a good race this season as multiple first year players are having phenomenal starts to their careers. However, if Achane can keep this pace he’ll be among the finalist when voting starts to close out later this year. His speed is nothing new to Aggie fans and it’s great to see his skillset translate well into the NFL early.

We wish Achane health and success as he continues blow pass would be tacklers to what we hope becomes an award-winning season for the rookie tailback.

Former Aggie De’Von Achane emerging as a breakout candidate in Dolphins’ offseason workouts

With NFL teams working through their offseason workouts, former Texas A&M RB De’Avon Achane is emerging as a breakout candidate for the Miami Dolphins.

A former Texas A&M star turning heads at the pro football level? That doesn’t sounds surprising at all given the volume of talent the Maroon and White has sent to the NFL.

Travis Wingfield of miamidolphins.com tweeted on Tuesday that among the notable standouts from the Miami Dolphins‘ offseason workouts was running back De’Avon Achane. According to Winfield, the rookie, and former Aggie, was making easy work of yards from scrimmage as he noted Achane “was chewing up yardage.”

Among the highlight-worthy plays were a few explosive runs and passes, one off an Eric Saubert block and another on a deep ball from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Wingfield alluded to more than just these two plays that drew acclaim, but that he “lost count” given the sheer volume of plays made from Achane.

Achane’s recent prowess in making plays after the catch is just the latest bit of positive news to come out of the Dolphins’ offseason workouts, which is an encouraging sign as the former Aggie transitions to face NFL-level competition.

Just a few weeks back, it was reported that Achane bulked up to 192 lbs (at the time of reporting) given he was able to take advantage of a full offseason to work out and add weight. Achane was listed at 5-9 and 188 lbs heading into the draft and didn’t have the luxury of a full offseason during college to gain weight because of his commitment to the track team.

While Achane’s 4.32 40-yard dash time had teams enamored with his speed, his relatively small size and frame is what likely factored in him being taken No. 84 overall to the Dolphins in the third round.

But now that he’s added on muscle, and with the coaching staff and observers alike raving about his ability to make defenses pay in the open field, Achane, and the Dolphins are clearly on track to make all 31 other NFL teams pay for their mistake in allowing the former Aggie to land in Miami, and in Mike McDaniel’s offensive system no less.

After supporting the Aggies on Saturday afternoons this season, be sure to dedicate your Sundays to watching Achane excel at the next level. And if you just so happen to dabble in fantasy football, take this latest report as an indication that Achane is more than well worth a roster spot on your team.
