Former UGA DB Deandre Baker activated to Chiefs active roster

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that they activated former Georgia corner back Deandre Baker from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that they activated former Georgia corner back Deandre Baker from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of this Sunday’s matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Just two months ago Georgia’s 2018 Jim Thorpe Award winner was facing up to 10 years in prison due to robbery charges from an incident that occurred in May of this year while playing for the New York Giants as their 2018 first round pick.

The Giants released Baker in September after he was charged with four counts of robbery.

In November, the charges were dropped after news that William Dean, the attorney representing three of the four men who were allegedly robbed by Baker, was arrested on extortion charges, leading Baker to sign with the Chiefs a week later.

Now, the former Bulldog will get another chance to see an NFL field as the 14-1 Chiefs work toward a playoff run.

Former Georgia CB DeAndre Baker signs with Kansas City after dropped robbery charges

After robbery charges were dropped last week, former Bulldog DeAndre Baker is getting a fresh start in Kansas City. Details here

Former Georgia defensive back DeAndre Baker’s robbery charges were dropped last week after news the attorney representing three of the four men who were allegedly robbed by Baker, William Dean, was arrested on extortion charges.

Baker, a 2019 first-round draft pick by New York Giants, was released from the team after the incident in September.

He faced a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted and now, only a week after charges were dropped, Baker has a fresh start as a Kansas City Chief.

NFL Network reported late Tuesday night that the defending Super Bowl champs have signed Baker to the practice squad with an avenue to the starting roster if he plays well.

Great to see Baker get another shot in the NFL after a rough rookie season in New York and the wild situation in September.
