Isaiah Rodgers reps Darius Slay’s jersey before Eagles matchup vs. Jaguars in Week 9

Isaiah Rodgers will start his first game at cornerback for the Eagles in place of an injured Darius Slay.

Slay will miss Sunday’s game with a groin injury, and with the Birds being a tight-knit unit, Rodgers paid homage to the Pro Bowl cornerback.  The return specialist and cornerback wore a Kelly Green No. 2 jersey to Lincoln Financial Field in tribute to his injured teammate.

Rodgers broke up a deep pass to Ja’Marr Chase in the Week 8 win that was tipped into C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s hands for a crucial interception.

Philadelphia stars Dallas Goedert, and Darius Slay have been ruled out for the Eagles Week 9 game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Eagles will be without two of their biggest stars in Week 9, as Dallas Goedert and Darius Slay have been ruled out against the Jaguars.

Slay (groin) and Goedert (hamstring) both missed their third practice of the week and will be inactive for Sunday.

Goedert has missed the last two games after injuring his hamstring early in the Week 6 win over Cleveland and did not practice.

Slay, who exited Sunday’s win with a groin injury, did not practice on Thursday. Isaiah Rodgers replaced him in the Bengals game, and he tipped a pass intended for wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase that led to an interception by safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Mekhi Becton, Jalen Carter, and Landon Dickerson all got in full practice and will play.

The Eagles just hit the practice field for the final time this week and the team is trending towards being without two of their key starters.

Goedert has missed the last two games after injuring his hamstring early in the Week 6 win over Cleveland and did not practice.

Eagles’ CB Darius Slay will undergo MRI on groin to determine status for Week 9

Philadelphia Eagles’ CB Darius Slay will undergo MRI on groin to determine status for Week 9

The Eagles could be without Darius Slay in Week 9 after the star cornerback was forced to exit the win over the Bengals with a groin injury.

Slay became lame in the second half and was replaced by Isaiah Rodgers, who was opposite Quinyon Mitchell. During his most recent episode of the Big Play Slay podcast, the veteran cornerback said he’d have an MRI within the next few days to determine the severity of his injury.

Slay logged 41 snaps before departing and finished with four tackles and one big pass breakup that prevented a touchdown catch. If Slay were to miss an extended time, Philadelphia would have depth at the cornerback spot and could turn to Isaiah Rodgers and Kelee Ringo, who are available for Week 9 against the Jaguars.
