Cardinals sign DT Darius Kilgo

He had a workout with the Cardinals over the weekend.

The Arizona Cardinals had defensive tackle Darius Kilgo on Monday. He had a tryout with the team on Saturday.

He replaces Xavier Williams, who was placed on injured reserve over the weekend. He will be wearing Williams’ No. 70 jersey.

Listed at 6-3 and 320 pounds, Kilgo began his career in 2015 with the Denver Broncos when they selected him in the sixth round of the draft. He has played in 29 career games with the Broncos (2015-16) and Tennessee Titans (2018) and had 11 tackles, one pass defensed and one quarterback hit.

He was on the Broncos practice squad in 2020 after spending training camp with the Patriots. During his NFL career, Kilgo has been on the practice squads of the Patriots, Jaguars, Texans, Titans and Lions.

Having signed early in the week, it is possible he gets some playing time in the Cardinals’ preseason opener on Friday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ravens reportedly work out former University of Maryland standout

The Baltimore Ravens are searching for defensive tackle depth. They brought in a former University of Maryland standout for a visit

The Baltimore Ravens are always looking to add talent to their roster. Whether it be injuries, poor performance, or another reason, it can never hurt to have insurance policies just in case something doesn’t go as expected.

For Baltimore, one of the positions that is already being a bit reworked is the defensive line. Undrafted rookie free agent defensive tackle Xavier Kelly tore his achilles during OTAs last week, and after not taking a defensive lineman in the 2021 draft the Ravens needed some more depth at the position.

The team reportedly signed undrafted rookie defensive tackle Jovan Swann, but also reportedly worked out a former University of Maryland standout.

Kilgo, 29, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 draft. He’s appeared in 29 regular season games at the NFL level, and has spent time with the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Detroit Lions.

The former Terp played four years at the University of Maryland, where he accumulated 125 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, and five fumble recoveries.

Patriots place LB Brandon King on Reserve/PUP List, sign DT Darius Kilgo

The Patriots filled a hole in the roster with DT Darius Kilgo.

The New England Patriots signed nose tackle Darius Kilgo and placed special teamer Brandon King on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List on Tuesday.

King, 27, will now have to miss the first six games of the regular season and he won’t count toward the team’s active roster during that time. He’s been with the Patriots since 2015 and missed the entirety of the 2019 season with a  torn quad. He primarily plays special teams and likely will play that role if he can return healthy.

Kilgo, 28, spent part of the 2016 season on the Patriots’ 53-man roster and practice squad. The 6-foot-3, 312 pound defensive tackle has floated mainly on different practice squads since getting drafted in 2015, but he’s played in 29 career regular-season games. He spent the 2019 season with the Detroit Lions, but was on the injured reserve list the whole time.

The Patriots had core special teamer Brandon Bolden opt out for the season, making King’s return even more prevalent.

Report: Patriots plan to sign TE Jordan Leggett and DT Darius Kilgo

New England adds depth and experience at tight end.

The New England Patriots plan to sign tight end Jordan Leggett and defensive tackle Darius Kilgo, pending physicals and COVID-19 tests, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Leggett, 25, is a four-year veteran who has played for the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He logged receptions in just one season, 2018, when he had 14 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-5 veteran entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick out of Clemson in 2017.

Kilgo, 28, will begin his second stint with the Patriots after playing with New England in 2016 and 2017 when spent time between the practice squad and the active roster. He has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. He has logged 16 career tackles.

Leggett joins a tight end group which saw Matt LaCosse opt out this offseason due to concerns about coronavirus. The Patriots have tight end Devin Asiasi, Dalton Keene and Ryan Izzo, among others. Kilgo, meanwhile, joins defensive tackles Lawrence Guy, Adam Butler, Byron Cowart and Bill Murray.
