Michigan State will reportedly be hosting a big-time linebacker prospect in the 2025 class.

Allen Trieu of 247Sports is reporting that Michigan State football will host four-star linebacker Dante McClellan for an official visit on June 1. McClellan hails from Canton, Ohio and is considered one of the Spartans’ top targets in the 2025 class.

McClellan ranks as the No. 41 linebacker in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2025 class. He is also listed as the No. 349 overall propsect nationally and No. 13 player from Ohio.

Michigan State is one of more than 20 programs to extend McClellan an offer, according to 247Sports. Other notable competitors for his commitment are Minnesota, Missouri and Kentucky.

2025 Ohio linebacker includes Tennessee in top eight.

2025 linebacker prospect Dante McClellan announced his top eight schools.

Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and West Virginia are McClellan’s top eight schools.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio.

Tennessee offered a scholarship to McClellan on Aug. 23, 2023.

“These schools are in my top eight for a reason,” McClellan told On3. “These are top schools that always contact me the most. The position coaches and the head coach contact me.”

The Vols have six commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Quarterback George MacIntyre, tight end Jack Van Dorseiaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson and cornerback Tyler Redmond.

Michigan State football is one of eight schools in the running for a big-time linebacker prospect from Ohio.

Four-star linebacker Dante McClellan of Canton, Ohio reportedly narrowed the schools he’s considering to eight this week, and that includes the Spartans. Michigan State is joined by Louisville, Pitt, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Minnesota and Rutgers.

McClellan ranks as the No. 31 linebacker and No. 273 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 11 player from Ohio.

Michigan State is one of 17 schools to offer McClellan, according to 247Sports. He picked up an offer from the Spartans in late January.

Tennessee offers No. 1 2025 linebacker in Ohio.

Tennessee offered a scholarship to 2025 four-star linebacker Dante McClellan.

“Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Tennessee,” McClellan announced.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is from McKinley Senior High School in Canton, Ohio.

McClellan is the No. 171 overall prospect and No. 17 linebacker in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 5 player in Ohio, according to On3.

McClellan earned All-Ohio honors after totaling 34 tackles, four interceptions, two touchdowns and one sack.

McClellan holds notable scholarship offers from USC, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Rutgers.

The Vols have one commit in its 2025 recruiting class. Three-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux committed to Tennessee on April 7.
