Here’s Dante Hall’s favorite play during his Chiefs career

Dante Hall revealed his favorite play during the course of his career with the #Chiefs:

Kansas City Chiefs legend Dante Hall is going into the Ring of Honor next year — largely due to his uncanny ability to make players miss in the open field.

Speaking to reporters after he was announced as the 52nd member of the Ring of Honor and the 48th player to be inducted, Hall was asked to recall his favorite play from the course of his career. He didn’t recall one of his many return touchdowns, but instead recalled the juke that he believes changed the course of his NFL career.

It was a 2002 road game against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. He caught five passes on six targets for 143 yards and two touchdowns during that game. On one of the touchdown passes, he unleashed one of the filthiest jukes in NFL history.

“I remember this one the best and it’s my favorite by far,” Hall said. “It’s the play in Denver – not the return here – the catch on the sideline, the spin, step back. Just aesthetically, just as a football fan, I love it the most.

“But it’s also the most important because at that time I was primarily just a return man, they would stick me in on gadget plays as a receiver but I remember coming in after that particular play and that particular game and having so many more plays designed and drawn up just for me.”

For Hall, he felt this was the tipping point where he became more than a return specialist for Kansas City. He felt he saw a lot more action in the game plan on offense from that point forward. It also allowed him to become a better return specialist as well.

“What that did was it allowed me to play more on offense which allowed me to get in the game and get in the groove more,” Hall said. “Which I think helped spring my actual return game because it was tough the first two years only being a return man – you’re not playing much on offense, you’re coming in cold, trying to make a play. You don’t get the flow and the speed of the game but after that I played in about 30 percent or 40 percent of the offense and the return game became much easier to me.”

This play has a special place in the heart of Hall and throughout the entirety of Chiefs Kingdom. It’s that much sweeter knowing that it came against the Broncos too.

The Kansas City Chiefs will induct Aggie legend Dante Hall into their Hall of Fame

Wide receiver and kick returner Dante Hall, both an Aggie and Kansas City Chiefs legend, will reportedly be inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame

Texas A&M football legend Dante Hall, as a running back and return specialist during his four seasons with the Maroon and White, recorded 4,706 all-purpose yards which is ranked fourth in program history, leading to his induction into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

Standing at 5-8, Hall’s size scared off a number of NFL teams during the 2000 NFL draft,  though his incredible versatility as a converted wide receiver caught the eye of the Kansas City Chiefs, who went on to draft him in the fifth round with the 153rd pick. From 200-2006, Hall became one of the premier playmakers for the franchise, gaining the nickname “X-Factor” and “The Human Joystick”, while setting numerous team records. Appearing in 97 games for the Chiefs over his seven seasons with the franchise, Hall amassed 8,500 return yards and 11 return touchdowns during his time in Kansas City, including an All-Pro selection as a returner during the 2003 season.

Due to his vast accomplished, it was announced last week that the Kansas City Chiefs will induct Hall into their team Hall of Fame, as team CEO Clark Hunt released a statement in response to his induction:

“My family and I are delighted to announce Dante as this year’s inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame,” Hunt said. “It’s not every day you get to witness a generational talent at the returner position, but Chiefs Kingdom was blessed to witness Dante’s talent for seven seasons.

“His quickness, agility and pure athleticism as a returner and wide receiver cemented him as one of the franchise’s greats. Following his playing career, Dante joined the Kansas City Ambassador program and has been an active participant in the brand’s international expansion efforts. We are looking forward to celebrating Dante’s Hall of Fame induction at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium this fall.”

Congratulations, Dante! And as always, Gig ‘Em!

Chiefs announce Dante Hall will be inducted into team Hall of Fame in 2023

Hall is set to be inducted into the #Chiefs Hall of Fame in 2023, the team announced on Friday

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that prolific wide receiver and kick returner Dante Hall will be inducted into their hall of fame in a tweet on Friday.

Hall, one of Kansas City’s most recognizable figures of their 2000s rosters, was an explosive playmaker during his seven-year tenure with the team between 2000 and 2006. Known for his elite footspeed and short stature, Hall’s elusiveness on the gridiron earned him the nicknames “X-Factor” and “The Human Joystick”.

Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt released a statement on Hall’s selection to the team’s Hall of Fame in the official announcement, highlighting the receiver’s work as an electric kick returner as a key role for his induction.

Hall earned an All-Pro selection in Kansas City as a returner in 2003 and was part of many notable teams during the Trent Green era of the early 2000s. He appeared in 97 games for the Chiefs over his seven seasons with the team, amassing over 8,500 return yards and 11 return touchdowns as a member of the team.

Former Chiefs players congratulate Dick Vermeil on Hall of Fame selection

Former #Chiefs players flocked to social media to congratulate Dick Vermeil on being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame with the rest of the class of 2022.

After the news broke that Vermeil had made the Hall of Fame, the team released a statement from Clark Hunt, who was elated for the former Chiefs head coach. Vermeil was always known for connecting with his players, so the best messages of congratulations naturally came from his former players. Several flocked to social media to praise and congratulate their former head coach.

Here’s a quick look at several of those messages of congratulations:

Top 2021 NFL draft prospects compared to current and former Chiefs players

Frank Clark, Jamaal Charles and Dante Hall? See which NFL draft prospects are drawing these comparisons.

Comparing incoming NFL draft prospects to those who’ve come before is a time-tested tradition that fans of the game never seem to grow out of. Part of it is because it’s fun. The other part of it is because we want to know how the soon-to-be NFL players stack up against those currently in the league. What better way to find out than to compare them to those who’ve been there.

Our friends Doug Farrar and Mark Schofield of Touchdown Wire recently revealed their top 50 players in the 2021 NFL draft. Today, the dynamic duo revealed NFL player comparisons for each of those 50 players.

So who are some of the players that are being compared to current and former Kansas City Chiefs players? Well, thankfully, none of them are being compared to Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, at least not by Farrar and Schofield. A total of three prospects were compared to one current and two former Chiefs players.

Let’s take a look at the prospects and the players they were compared to:

FOCO releases new Dante Hall ‘Human Joy Stick’ bobblehead

A clever and cool representation of Kansas City Chiefs great Dante Hall, paying homage to his nickname.

Kansas City Chiefs great Dante Hall is the next player to get the bobblehead treatment from FOCO, one of the leading manufacturers of officially licensed NFL merchandise.

FOCO previously released an entire series of limited edition Chiefs bobbleheads surrounding their Super Bowl LIV victory. They also recently created a set of bobbleheads centered around Mecole Hardman’s stylish pregame outfits. Now, they’re taking a trip down memory lane and creating a clever representation of Hall that pays homage to his nicknames.

Hall was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He’d go on to become one of the most exciting return specialists in franchise history and a big part of team success during that era. During his seven seasons in Kansas City, Hall amassed 8,644 kick return yards, 1,882 punt return yards, and 11 combined return touchdowns. His prowess in the return game earned him the nickname “The Human Joy Stick.”

FOCO’s bobblehead draws inspiration from two of Hall’s nicknames when he was in the NFL. The bobblehead features Hall in a pose, throwing up the X because it was part of his “X-Factor” nickname. Hall is also standing on an arcade console-themed base, which is modeled after Hall’s signature “Human Joy Stick” nickname. The base features Chiefs-colored accents. It also has a screen with 8-bit lettering and a team logo display.

“Dante Hall was an electrifying return man and one of the most exciting players to watch in the early 2000s,” FOCO Senior Licensing Manager Matthew Katz said in a press release. “In addition to his great play on the field, he also had one of the best nicknames in the game – ‘The Human Joy Stick.’ That inspired us to create this unique bobblehead with a thematic base, and we think Chiefs fans will be eager to add this piece to their collections.”

This bobblehead is currently available for pre-order at FOCO.com. The projected delivery date for this item is currently in September, so you should receive it around the start of the 2020 NFL season.
