The Mavericks held off the T-Wolves Monday in a 110-108 win in Dallas as 1-point home favorites. Dallas is 2-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) versus Minnesota this season.

In the last two weeks, the Mavs are 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS with the latest being a 110-91 home win versus the Houston Rockets Wednesday without Luka Doncic.

Following a 4-game winning streak, Minnesota has lost back-to-back outings to the Mavs Monday and the Phoenix Suns Wednesday (125-116). But, the T-Wolves are 7-3 SU and ATS in their last 10 games.

According to both Pregame.com and VegasInsider.com, a vast majority of the action is on the Timberwolves (-160).

I’m assuming this is based on the public seeing Minnesota lose by 2 points to the MAVERICKS (+130) in Dallas earlier this week and figure the T-Wolves won’t lose a second straight to the Mavs, this time at home.

But, that’s what will happen. Dallas played with their food against Minnesota and should have comfortably won that game. The Mavs were up as many as 16 points versus the T-Wolves Monday and held a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter.

Also, this is a bad matchup for Minnesota since it feasts on forcing turnovers and crashing the glass. However, Dallas has one of the best offensive turnover and defensive rebounding rates in the Association.

I’ll SPRINKLE on the MAVERICKS (+130) only because Dallas’s spread is the much sharper play.

Against the spread

Definitely BET the MAVERICKS +3.5 (-108) heavier than or instead of their ML based on the previous analysis and as a fade against a market that’s barrelling into the T-Wolves -3.5 (-112).

The bottom line is the market has lazy analysis of this matchup and just figures Dallas cannot beat Minnesota twice in the same week. But the Mavs have a better winning percentage, adjusted net rating and ATS margin versus top-10 teams than the T-Wolves, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Furthermore, Dallas is 6-0-1 ATS in the last 7 road games, 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings with Minnesota and 11-6 ATS on the road versus teams with a winning record.

The MAVERICKS PLUS THE POINTS is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 228.5 (-110) because Dallas is 13-21 O/U versus teams with a winning record, the Mavs are 9-11 O/U as road underdogs and the T-Wolves are 10-14 O/U as home favorites.

Also, Dallas plays at the slowest pace in the NBA so if they control the tempo there should be fewer possessions.

But, I’m not as confident in the Under as I am about Dallas and the Over has cashed in five of the past six Mavericks-Timberwolves meetings.

That will hurt, but it shouldn’t be enough to swing the tides away from Dallas.

The Hornets have won three games in a row, but before that, they only had four wins in 17 games.

The Mavericks are 6-4 this season with no rest.

The Mavs beat the Sixers 107-98 in Dallas Feb. 4, but that was before Philly acquired James Harden. In that game, Luka Doncic scored a game-high 33 points with 15 assists and 13 rebounds for the Mavs while Joel Embiid had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Sixers.

SPRINKLE on the MAVERICKS (+125) because Luka is playing better than anyone else in this game and Dallas’s new three-guard starting five looks potent.

Since the All-Star break, Doncic is averaging 31.3 points on 60.8% true shooting (.483/.364/.767), 9.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists and a plus-6 net rating in nine games. Also, newly acquired SG Spencer Dinwiddie is giving Dallas good minutes.

Dinwiddie is averaging an efficient 17.9 points per game since coming to Dallas on 58.7% effective field goal shooting (.500/.431). Also, the Mavs are scoring 13.1 more points per 100 possessions when Dinwiddie is on the floor, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

My preferred wager is Dallas’s spread, but there’s some value on the MAVERICKS (+125).

Definitely BET MAVERICKS +3.5 (-112) heavier than or instead of their money line.

Dallas is 11-5 ATS on the road versus teams with a winning record and 7-0 ATS in the last four games as underdogs while Philly is 6-12 ATS at home versus winning teams.

Finally, there’s some suspicious reverse line movement in Dallas’s direction. According to Pregame.com, the Mavs have gone from a 4.5-point underdog on the opener down to the current price despite most of the cash being on the Sixers. It’s worrisome when the House makes the more popular side cheaper.

The MAVERICKS PLUS THE POINTS is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

Slight LEAN to the OVER 217.5 (-108) as a fade against all the pro-Under money that has steamed this total down from the 225-point opener, per VegasInsider.com.

The Mavs have one of the best defenses in the NBA but the Davis Bertans and Dinwiddie acquisitions have given Dallas’s offense a jolt.

Also, Philly’s defense has been subpar the last two weeks and it struggles when Harden is on the floor.

Brooklyn won its fourth straight game Tuesday after crushing the Magic 150-108 in Orlando as Nets SG Kyrie Irving scored 60 points on 20-for-31 shooting. However, as per the New York City COVID-vaccine mandate, Kyrie will not be playing in Brooklyn Wednesday.

The Nets beat the Mavs 102-99 in Dallas, covering as 1.5-point road favorites in their first meeting Dec. 7.

Brooklyn ranks 21st in defensive rating and Dallas performs well and is profitable against teams in the bottom-10 of defensive efficiency.

The Mavs are 15-7 SU versus bottom-10 defenses with a plus-10.1 adjusted net rating (ranked seventh) and a plus-3.5 ATS margin (ranked third), according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Dallas is sixth in defensive rating and Brooklyn is 8-15 SU versus top-10 defenses with a minus-3.7 adjusted net rating (ranked 15th) and minus-3.1 ATS margin (ranked 22nd), per CTG.

This is a also way better spot for the Mavs who are 12-3 SU as road favorites (plus-9.5 margin of victory) whereas the Nets are 2-5 SU as home underdogs (minus-11.0 margin of victory) and 2-9 SU in the second of a back-to-back (minus-6.5 margin of victory).

The MAVERICKS MONEY LINE (-150) is my favorite wager in this contest.

Against the spread

I prefer Dallas’s ML but the MAVERICKS -2.5 (-120) is certainly the right side. Dallas is 11-4 ATS on the road versus teams with a winning record and has covered seven straight games versus winning teams.

Furthermore, Brooklyn is 2-5 ATS as home underdogs, 2-8-1 ATS on the second of a back-to-back and 3-13-1 ATS at home versus winning teams.

LEAN MAVERICKS -2.5 (-120) since Dallas’s ML is only 30 cents on the dollar more expensive.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 221.5 (-115) because my numbers say this total should be at least 10 points lower.

Both teams have a below-average free-throw attempt rate and a top-10 defensive effective field goal percentage.

There could also be a bunch of one-and-done possessions since Dallas has a low offensive rebounding rate, which helps Brooklyn who struggles closing out possessions on the boards. However, the Nets don’t crash the glass on offense and the Mavs are a fantastic defensive rebounding team.

These teams have a combined 28-37 O/U record when playing teams with a winning record. Since this is a nationally televised, primetime matchup pitting two All-NBA-caliber dudes head-to-head, this game will have more of a playoff atmosphere.

My favorite play in this game is Dallas’s ML, but there’s value in the UNDER 221.5 (-115).

The Mavs have won 5 straight and the Knicks are just 14-19 on the road. Nonetheless, I’d still stay away from Dallas -420. While the Knicks have been playing better as of late, their +320 isn’t worth a longshot wager.

LEAN to the MAVERICKS -8.5 (-105).

The Knicks are just 1-6 ATS this calendar year when underdogs by 7 or more points.

While the Knicks did beat Dallas by 23 earlier in the season, New York shot 22% better than the Mavs and won the turnover battle and rebounding battle.

Assuming the two teams return to their mean, the Mavs should have a better chance at covering. Also, the Knicks are just 29-36 ATS this season while the Mavs are a far better 36-28-1.

Lastly, the Mavs hold opponents to the 8th-worst three-point field goal rate. The Knicks shoot the 11th-highest rate from distance. That battle that favors the Mavs should be huge for Dallas’ ability to cover.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 215.5 (-115).

The one thing the Mavs have done best this season is fail to cover the projected total. They’re just 23-41-1 O/U this season. It’s really the pace that has killed their total.

The Mavs rank 30th in pace, and the Knicks are also near the bottom of the league, ranking 27th. Also, neither team ranks in the top ten in offensive rating.

Dallas is just 9-24-1 O/U at home as well, making this an even sounder bet.

Dallas enters on a four-game win streak (2-1-1 ATS), which includes two victories over the Golden State Warriors and a 114-113 victory over the Sacramento Kings Saturday without All-Star G Luka Doncic.

The Jazz are 2-0 SU versus the Mavs but 0-2 ATS in their two regular-season meetings so far and both games went Over the total.

Utah did a good job defending Luka Feb. 25, holding him to 23 points on 44.6% true shooting (.333/.333/1.000) with a minus-22 net rating.

“LEAN” to the JAZZ (+100) since I prefer their spread because Utah is playing its third game in the last four nights.

The Jazz have much higher effective field goal shooting and rebounds per game differentials and do a better job working the officials than the Mavericks. Utah is second in offensive FT/FGA rate and first in defensive.

Dallas also struggles down the stretch in close games and Utah is a little more efficient versus quality opponents.

The Mavs have a minus-14.7 net rating in the “clutch” (ranked 26th). “Clutch” is defined by games within a 5-point margin inside of five minutes to play.

The Jazz have a plus-3.1 adjusted net rating versus teams in the top-10 of net efficiency (ranked third), according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

On top of that, communication and team defense is the best way to defend Luka and these are two areas in which Utah obviously excels. The Mavs are just 2-6 SU versus the Jazz in games Luka is active for and Luka has a career minus-9 net rating against Utah.

I prefer Utah’s spread but, either way, the JAZZ (+100) are the right side despite their possible fatigue at the end of this road trip.

Against the spread

The JAZZ PLUS THE POINTS is my favorite wager in this contest based on all the previous analyses.

There could be some additional value on the Jazz here since they have failed to cover the spread in five of their last six games.

Since big Rudy Gobert returned from injury the Jazz are 5-2 SU and are just 14th in net rating over that span mostly due to a 34-point shellacking Utah took at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans Friday.

Otherwise, the JAZZ +1.5 (-110) are getting back into form.

Over/Under

PASS because the Under 217.5 (-108) is the only way I’d bet the total but my Jazz-Mavericks prediction is still above the projected total.

However, there could be fewer visits to the foul line since the officiating crew assigned to this game has a combined 49-69 O/U record.

Also, Utah is 4-5 O/U in the second of a back-to-back and 14-16-1 O/U on the road. While Dallas is 7-15-1 O/U as a home favorite and 5-7-1 O/U with a rest advantage.

That said, I prefer the Utah sides more so than the total, which is beneath my buy-price.

The Mavs rallied back from a double-digit deficit to stun the Warriors 107-101 in Golden State Sunday by outscoring them 33-13 in the fourth quarter. Dallas is 2-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) versus Golden State this season.

The Mavs are 2-1 SU and 2-0-1 ATS since the All-Star break with their latest game being a 109-104 road victory over the Lakers Tuesday.

The Warriors are 1-2 SU and ATS following the All-Star Game and got crushed 129-114 by the Timberwolves Tuesday in Minnesota. Golden State SG Klay Thompson has missed the past two games, both Warriors losses.

I’ll fade the alleged early sharp line move towards the Mavericks and SPRINKLE on the WARRIORS (+105).

Dallas opened up as +110 underdogs (according to Pregame.com) and has been steamed up to a favorite despite no new information. The only new intel the market has is the possible return of Thompson.

My takeaway from this initial line movement is the public and even wiseguys are overreacting to the Mavs’ stunning upset of the Warriors in Golden State this past weekend.

However, the Warriors held a 21-point lead during that game and thumped the Mavs 130-92 in their previous meeting, Jan. 25. If Golden State doesn’t pee down its leg, the Warriors handle business against the Mavs.

Dallas also might have pulled out a close game with Golden State the other night, but the Mavs are 28th in “clutch” net rating in the NBA at minus-19.9 while the Warriors are eighth in “clutch” net rating at plus-8.8. “Clutch” is defined by games within a 5-point margin inside of five minutes to play.

Golden State’s spread is the sharper play but I like the value of the WARRIORS (+105).

Against the spread

The WARRIORS +1.5 (-108) is my favorite wager here because I could see this game coming down to the final possessions and maybe the 1.5 points worth of insurance pays off.

Furthermore, there’s a “Pros vs. Joes“ scenario in the betting market as a slight majority of the cash is on Golden State but nearly two-thirds of the bets placed are on Dallas, according to VegasInsider.com. Typically, it’s wise in sports betting to follow the money when it’s counter to the public.

For the record, the WARRIORS +1.5 (-108) is my best bet in this game.

Over/Under

PASS.

I “lean” towards the Over 219.5 (-108) because the Warriors-Mavericks are 11-4 O/U in their last 15 meetings.

However, I don’t have a strong enough conviction on the Over and all three of the referees in this crew has officiated more to the Under.

Dallas is also 5-15-1 O/U as a home favorite and these teams have a combined 21-34 O/U record versus teams with a winning record.

The Lakers have been reeling. They have lost their two games since the All-Star break and have dropped five of their last six and nine of their last 12 contests. They have fallen to ninth place in the West, which is one of the four spots that would have to participate in the play-in games to get to the playoffs.
