Cowboys News: Hooker’s impact, playing a home game in Mexico, offense back?

Washington made headlines in the wrong way, Malik Hooker is a budding star for Dan Quinn and the offense is on the right track in Dallas. | From @CDBurnett7

The Dallas Cowboys have a duel with the Washington Football Team coming up in Week 16 so it’s only right that Washington finds a way into the headline, even if it’s making fun of them. Somehow, the Football Team decided copying the Cowboys’ travel benches was a great idea and they’ll make the trip to Dallas after an unsuccessful stop in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Safety Malik Hooker has become a sight for Cowboys’ fans eyes with his physical ability and range on the field in Dan Quinn’s defense. After getting his first interception of the season with his opportunities growing, is this just the beginning of a career resurgence?

While the Dallas defense is the star of the show, rightfully so, the offense is getting its legs back. 21 points against New York isn’t perfect but in context, it’s a solid performance from an offense that has had their points boosted on the road thanks to defensive scores. It seems like an offensive explosion may soon arrive.

Cowboys News: Defensive dominance, playoff seeding scenarios, home-field value

The Cowboys’ ugly wins courtesy of the defense, moving up to No. 2 in the NFC and how Dallas’ offense needs home-field advantage. | From @CDBurnett7

The calling card of the 2021 Dallas Cowboys has become their gritty defense. Tied for the most takeaways and outright No. 1 in interceptions, Dallas’ backbone is no longer the offense that has carried them at times in recent seasons.

With this in mind, the defense has dominated on the road, relieving the Cowboys of any stress when the offense has lost their momentum and even put them in a hole like they did in Washington. The return of defensive end Demarcus Lawrence has been one of the biggest stories and the ugly wins have paid dividends, even moving Dallas up in seeding.

Tampa Bay and Arizona had tough losses in Week 15 and it’s moved the Cowboys up to No. 2 in the NFC and just a Green Bay loss from taking over the top spot. But can one of their final three opponents take down Aaron Rodgers? Looking at the Dallas offensive stats at home compared to away, it’s imperative to have the home-field advantage when the red-zone success is putrid on the road. Here are all the latest news and notes.

Cowboys Gameday News: Headlining LBs, Pollard’s return, No. 1 seed hopes

Micah Parsons’ haunting New York, Jaylon Smith facing Dallas, Tony Pollard’s return and No. 1 seed hopes in the Cowboys’ gameday news. | From @CDBurnett7

Front and center on Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants will be two linebackers headlining the contest. Jaylon Smith will be making his first appearance against the Cowboys while linebacker Micah Parsons will continue to haunt New York for passing on the DPOY candidate.

After avoiding COVID issues during the week, Dallas added two big pieces from their defense with hopes there isn’t a bigger outbreak on the horizon. On the plus side, running back Tony Pollard is making his return after a week off due to injury and a healthier Ezekiel Elliott makes for a return-to-form for a struggling rushing offense.

New York will have a long list of practice squad players seeing consistent snaps and the Cowboys just have to handle business in a potential win that would all but seal the NFC East and set Dallas’ focus towards stealing the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Cowboys Gameday News: Tony Pollard update, roster moves as Gregory returns

The cavalry’s arrival, divisional win importance and a potential return to form headline Cowboys news ahead of Sunday’s tilt in Washington. | From @CDBurnett7

The Dallas Cowboys took their lumps in November while dealing with a long list of injuries and came back down to Earth after an incredible first half of the season. Now, with a big road matchup with the Washington Football Team in Week 14, Dallas has the cavalry for a late-season run.

Defensive ends Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence will play together for the first time since Week 1 alongside star rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who could see some lanes open up for pressure with the “three-headed monster” back on the field. The reinforcements on defense don’t stop there with sophomore defensive tackle Neville Gallimore making his 2021 debut.

The Cowboys sit at 8-4 but need to find momentum again in what feels like a must-win game in Washington. With the receiving core back to 100% as well, Dallas feels like true favorites on the road against the Football Team who have been suffocated by injuries recently.

Here are the gameday Cowboys News and Notes.

Cowboys Game Day News: Roster shakeup, Steele back at LT, where will Parsons play?

Michael Gallup’s return, a struggling offensive line and a defense trying to refind their identity headline the Cowboys’ Week 10 matchup. The game day news and notes to digest. | From @CDBurnett7

The Dallas Cowboys got stunnered by the Broncos in Week 9 and never really woke up. Following the brutal loss at home, the Atlanta Falcons come into town and give Dallas a chance to erase the memory of the week before.

Injuries continue to plague the Cowboys as defensive end Randy Gregory has been moved to IR, which forces linebacker Micah Parsons to take over pass-rushing duties in his absence. He’s already totaled five sacks in the young season.

With Parsons playing at the line, Cordarrelle Patterson will be a nightmare matchup for the Dallas defense to try and contain. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will be coaching in his first game against his former team and draws a tough matchup with the versatile running back.

Offensive tackle Terence Steele had a forgettable start in Week 9, having to shift to left tackle and he’s a big factor for the Cowboys to succeed Sunday. Luckily they welcome back wide receiver Michael Gallup to add extra firepower to the offense and potentially take some heat off of an offensive line that has looked pedestrian in recent weeks.

Last week was a rollercoaster of a gameday for the Dallas Cowboys; the quarterback roulette between Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush, with the latter pulling off a miraculous win in Minnesota. This Sunday, Prescott returns to the field against the 4-4 Denver Broncos, who have some interesting storylines with Dallas coming off of this years’ draft and are now without their franchise star in Von Miller.

The Cowboys sit at 6-1 and the image of head coach Mike McCarthy has changed from struggle to success in his second year in Dallas. One of the biggest revelations in 2021 is defensive end Randy Gregory pushing towards a big payday without his partner in crime, which he noted in an interview.

Who’s the X-Factors on Sunday? Will the Cowboys handle business at home? Is this the halfway point in a historic season for Dallas?

The Cowboys are always the talk of the town but fans have kept their expectations surprisingly low. Is an NFC East crown too low of expectations, or is it just safe thinking?

Cornerback Trevon Diggs enters a huge matchup with fellow sophomore Justin Jefferson, who is also having an impressive start to the season. Can Diggs keep his historic interception streak alive and can Dallas slow down the Vikings offense?

The cavalry is coming soon for the Cowboys with many big contributors back at practice or returning to the field in Week 8, but it will it be enough to move to 6-1 this week? Here is the Cowboys Gameday News and Notes.

The Dallas Cowboys are getting right tackle La’el Collins back this week but he won’t step directly back into his starting role. Quarterback Dak Prescott is being worked back into practice slowly after suffering a calf strain in Week 6. He’s making progress, but the Cowboys are preparing Cooper Rush as well to be on the safe side.

Safety Jayron Kearse was seen as a roster bubble player by some before the season started, however he has been superb in his role in the “Big Nickel” package featuring three safeties. Rookie defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa has gone from a maligned pick to one of the Cowboys’ most impactful defenders this season, and he’s exceeded his expectations in the process. Breaking down the unbelievable start to the 2021 season for Trevon Diggs, odds and predictions for the Cowboys Week 8 matchup against the Vikings, and much more made the headlines in this edition of the news and notes.

Team owners Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft answered questions about their relationship and how the NFL stands as a business in 2021. For the Cowboys and Patriots, advanced stats show how Dallas has the advantage in key statistical categories.

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys collectively gasped after hearing about the MRI Tyron Smith had on his neck.
