SIGNED: 3-star running back Da’Jaun Riggs is officially a Duck

The Oregon Ducks officially signed 3-star running back Da’Jaun Riggs, adding him to the 2024 class.

The Oregon Ducks have been active at the running back spot over the last week, and they added another player to the mix on signing day.

3-star running back Da’Jaun Riggs officially signed his letter of intent, joining the Ducks’ 2024 class. Riggs is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 755 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 59 running back.

While Riggs may not be as highly rated as other players in the Ducks’ class, it’s clear that the staff really likes what he brings to the table. Riggs has been named the 2023 MaxPreps DC Player of the Year, and he brings a lot of upside to Eugene.

Riggs chose Oregon over schools like Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and Maryland.

He is the second RB that Oregon has added to the roster in the past week, with the Ducks also getting a transfer commitment from Northwest Missouri State RB Jay Harris earlier in the week.

Here are some highlights from Riggs:

Ducks land commitment from Washington DC RB Da’Jaun Riggs

The Ducks have their first RB commit of the 2024 cycle. Welcome to Eugene, Da’Jaun Riggs.

The Oregon Ducks continue to hold onto their spot in the top 10 of the national recruiting rankings, picking up yet another important signing on Monday to add to the 2024 class.

3-star running back Da’Jaun Riggs, one of the top players from the Washington D.C. area, announced his commitment to the Ducks, becoming the first RB to join Oregon in the 2024 cycle. Riggs is rated by 247Sports as the No. 58 running back and No. 768 overall player.

While he may not be as highly rated as some of the other players in the class, this is an instance where you need to trust RB coach Carlos Locklyn and what he desires at the position. During his time at Oregon, he’s already shown incredible prowess coaching the RB position, with a great eye for talent bringing in Bucky Irving, Noah Whittington, Jordan James, Dante Dowdell, and Jayden Limar into the program.

With the addition of Riggs, the Ducks have the No. 8 ranked recruiting class in the nation, and the No. 2 class in the Pac-12 conference behind the USC Trojans.

Ducks pick up pair of predictions to land DC-area RB target in 2024 class

Ducks pick up pair of predictions to land DC-area RB target in 2024 class

The next couple of weeks are going to be busy for the Oregon Ducks.

While the past month has been stacked full of recruiting visits, both official and unofficial, we are now about to see if they come to fruition and produce commitments. A number of top Oregon targets are scheduled to announce their commitments at some point over the next month, one of whom is 3-star RB Da’Jaun Riggs.

Riggs is now heavily favored to choose the Ducks following his official visit to Eugene last week. On Wednesday night, both 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn logged Crystal Ball predictions for Oregon to get his commitment. The Ducks also hold a strong lead in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 97% chance to get his verbal commitment.

Riggs is rated by 247Sports as the No. 64 RB in the 2024 class. While he may not be as highly touted as some of the other recruits in Oregon’s class, Duck fans should trust Dan Lanning, and in particular, RB coach Carlos Locklyn. He has made it a point to try and get Riggs into the fold, so they must like what they see and want to develop him.

Riggs is scheduled to announce his commitment on Monday, July 3.
