Seattle Seahawks sign 14 players to 2020 practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have signed 14 players to the 2020 practice squad ahead of the start of the regular season, leaving two spots remaining.

The Seahawks have announced their initial practice squad signings ahead of the 2020 regular season. Seattle formed its squad after trimming the roster down to the mandated 53-man limit on Saturday afternoon.

The following players have been signed to the Seahawks practice squad on Sunday:

  • Tackle Tommy Champion
  • Quarterback Danny Etling
  • Wide receiver Aaron Fuller
  • Linebacker Shaquem Griffin
  • Wide receiver Penny Hart
  • Defensive back Gavin Heslop
  • Defensive tackle Cedrick Lattimore
  • Wide receiver Lance Lenoir
  • Tight end Tyler Mabry
  • Defensive back Ryan Neal
  • Defensive back Jayson Stanley
  • Wide receiver Stephen Sullivan
  • Wide receiver Cody Thompson
  • Tackle Chad Wheeler

Seattle now has two open spots it can fill on the practice squad.

In addition, the Seahawks have also claimed former Titans linebacker D’Andre Walker off of waivers via Tennessee. Defensive back Linden Stephens was waived to make room on Seattle’s active 53-man roster.

Tracking all the reported signings as the Seattle Seahawks begin to form their 2020 NFL practice squad.

The Seattle Seahawks, like all teams around the league, had to trim their rosters down to 53 players by Saturday’s deadline. Most of the players who were cut were then placed on the waiver wire.

The claiming period for all players placed on waivers expired Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. PT.  Teams can now start to establish their practice squads of up to 16 players, which can consist of up to six veterans regardless of the number of accrued seasons they have in the NFL due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Before the practice squad is official set, we’ll be tacking all reported signings throughout the day, so check back often. The newest information will be added to the top of this list.

5 Seattle Seahawks to start year on reserve lists after roster cutdowns

Five Seattle Seahawks will start the year on the following reserve lists after roster cutdowns: PUP, Non-Football Injury and Suspended.

The Seattle Seahawks have yet to announce their initial 53-man roster cuts, but there are a few reserve list additions that have hit the NFL’s official transactions for Saturday so far. Five players will be headed to reserve lists to start the season.

Running back Rashaad Penny (knee) has been placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Defensive end Darrell Taylor (leg), tight end Colby Parkison (foot) and defensive back D.J. Reed have landed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.

Finally, guard Kyle Fuller will miss the first two games of the season on the Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner list for violating the league’s substance policy.
