Five-star QB Julian Lewis shares thoughts on latest visit to Colorado

Five-star QB Julian Lewis left impressed by his latest visit to Boulder

Class of 2025 five-star quarterback Julian Lewis made his second recruiting visit to Colorado over the weekend and was once again left excited about the Buffs.

Lewis, who remains committed to USC, spoke with 247 Sports (subscription required), about his latest trip to Boulder:

“Colorado has a lot of energy,” Lewis told 247Sports. “Coach Prime is super positive and motivating. Talking to coach (Pat) Shurmur and Shedeur (Sanders), they want me to make the best decision for me, but made it clear that I have the opportunity to play early.”

Clearly, CU head coach Deion Sanders and newly promoted offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur think highly of the 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback, but several other programs are also looking to flip Lewis. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports highlighted Alabama, Auburn and Indiana as other major contenders.

While Colorado landed a couple of intriguing transfer portal QBs this offseason, Coach Prime’s 2024 signing class didn’t feature any signal-callers, and the Buffs don’t own any 2025 commits. So, with current starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, Colorado could deliver on giving Lewis early playing time.

Colorado makes four-star athlete Dreyden Garner’s top five

Colorado is one of two Big 12 schools that made Dreyden Garner’s top five

About 10 months after receiving an offer from Colorado, four-star athlete Dreyden Garner made it clear that he’s still heavily considering the Buffs.

The class of 2025 prospect revealed his top five schools on Wednesday and Colorado was included along with Arkansas, San Diego State, Ole Miss and fellow Big 12 program Oklahoma State.

Garner hails from San Diego (Lincoln High School), so it’s no mystery why he featured the Aztecs as his only non-Power Five team. Colorado will now have to beat out former offensive coordinator Sean Lewis, who recently assumed San Diego State’s head job, for Garner’s commitment.

When he announced his Colorado offer last May, Garner revealed that he spoke with wide receivers coach Brett Bartolone, suggesting the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete is being viewed as an offensive player.

The 247Sports composite ranks Garner as the No. 15 athlete in his class and the No. 325 overall prospect.

IMG Academy DB Alex Graham places Colorado in top seven schools

Colorado is trending well with Alex Graham

Only one month after receiving an offer from head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffs, IMG Academy defensive back Alex Graham named Colorado to his top seven schools on Thursday, according to On3.

While the class of 2025 four-star prospect has dropped from being the 14th-ranked cornerback in his class to the No. 22 spot in the 247Sports composite since the offer, Colorado’s pursuit of Graham continues. But, so does the chase from other schools.

Originally from Detroit, Graham is projected (per 247Sports) to land with the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines. Along with the Wolverines and Buffs, Graham’s other top teams include Georgia, Penn State, Alabama, Oregon and Utah.

Graham, who’s listed at 6-foot-1 and 188 pounds, has taken recruiting trips to Michigan, Penn State and Utah, according to his 247Sports profile.

Mississippi tight end Micah Jones collects Colorado offer

Class of 2025 TE Micah Jones announced an offer from Colorado

Micah Jones, a class of 2025 three-star tight end from Mississippi, announced an offer from the Colorado Buffaloes on Tuesday. The 247Sports composite ranks Jones as the No. 27 TE in his class.

With about six months until his senior season begins at Madison Central High School, Jones’ already impressive size has him on track to make an instant impact at the college level. On his X (formerly known as Twitter) profile, the three-star prospect lists himself as 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, only slightly smaller than most of Colorado’s current tight ends.

It may not be easy for new CU tight ends coach Brett Bartolone to pry Jones out of his home state, however. According to his 247Sports profile, Jones has been most closely connected to Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Brandon Howard also reported on Wednesday that Jones will be visiting Florida this upcoming weekend.

Three-star quarterback Jackson Kollock set to visit Colorado, CSU in April

Class of 2025 QB Jackson Kollock will visit both Boulder and Fort Collins in April

After decommitting from Washington in January, class of 2025 quarterback Jackson Kollock has lined up visits with five different schools across the next couple of months, per 247Sports. Interestingly enough, his final two visits are with in-state rivals Colorado and Colorado State.

Kollock, a three-star QB out of California, is currently ranked No. 30 at his position in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite. As of this writing, he plans to visit San Diego State, California and Minnesota in March before visiting the Buffs and Rams in April.

Of his five visits, though, his trip to Fort Collins will be the only official visit — and the first official visit of his recruitment.

Kollock posted a 9-2 record as a junior for Laguna Beach High School last season, throwing for 3,174 yards, 41 touchdowns and only five interceptions on a 57.7% completion rate. He also wasn’t afraid to use his legs, rushing for 324 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

Eight notable prospects who’ve planned spring visits to Colorado

These talented prospects are set to visit Colorado this spring

On the field and in terms of recruiting, this spring is another big one for head coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado football program.

The Buffs are coming off a four-win campaign but certainly don’t lack momentum with the 2024 season looming.

While Coach Prime has heavily recruited the transfer portal again this offseason, getting a few class of 2025 prospects to commit would be more than welcome. Fortunately, several highly-ranked 2025 prospects have scheduled spring visits to Boulder, including multiple four/five-stars.

Colorado is currently without any 2025 commits as of this writing.

Below are eight notable class of 2025 prospects who plan on visiting CU this spring:

Class of 2025 tight end Bear Tenney schedules recruiting trip to Colorado

Highly-ranked TE Bear Tenney will be visiting Colorado along with four other schools this spring

Another talented class of 2025 prospect has scheduled a recruiting visit to Colorado, as three-star tight end Bear Tenney announced Friday that he’ll be in Boulder on March 30.

The Buffs, via multiple coaching staffs, have been linked to Tenney for some time now. In the spring of 2022, Tenney visited then-head coach Karl Dorrell’s program and was later re-offered by former tight ends coach Tim Brewster that December.

Even though Brewster is now in Charlotte, Colorado, along with new TE coach Brett Bartolone, remain high on Tenney.

Back in August, Tenney named CU to his top 12 schools. The Buffs are now in his top five along with Utah, Washington, Georgia and Florida. He’ll be visiting those four other colleges as well this spring.

The 6-foot-5 Tenney recently spoke with On3’s Phillip Dukes about his relationship with Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and his staff:

Tenney, who will spend his upcoming senior season at Lehi High School in Utah, told Dukes that he’s now up to 245 pounds.

The 247Sports composite ranks Tenney as the No. 23 TE in his class.

USC commit Julian Lewis plans second recruiting visit to Colorado

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis will be back in Boulder next month

Julian Lewis must’ve liked what he saw in Boulder last month.

After visiting Colorado during the final weekend of January, the class of 2025 five-star quarterback will be checking out the Buffs again on March 22, per multiple reports.

Lewis remains committed to USC but certainly isn’t ruling out other destinations. Along with making a return trip to CU, he’ll be visiting Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and USC in March.

Currently a junior at Carrollton High School in Georgia, Lewis is the second-ranked QB in his class and the No. 8 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has been committed to head coach Lincoln Riley’s Trojans since Aug. 22.

Colorado football’s spring visitors list is becoming more and more impressive by the day. Other notable class of 2025 prospects coming to Boulder this spring include five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, three-star linebacker Mantrez Walker, top-ranked safety Faheem Delane and IMG Academy cornerback Major Preston.

Five-star OT Michael Fasusi to visit Colorado during spring game

Five-star prospect Michael Fasusi will reportedly be in Boulder for the spring game

Class of 2025 five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi has locked in a spring recruiting visit to Colorado, according to On3’s Sam Spiegelman.

On Jan. 16, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect announced he had received an offer from the Buffs, so things appear to be trending well between Fasusi and CU’s coaching staff.

Along with his visit to Boulder, which will coincide with Colorado’s spring game on April 27, Fasusi has scheduled trips to Missouri (March 12-13), LSU (March 20), Texas A&M (March 30), Texas (April 9), Oregon (April 17-18) and Oklahoma (April 25). That’s a pretty impressive slate, to say the least.

Fasusi is the second-ranked offensive tackle in his class and the No. 4 overall prospect from Texas, per the 247Sports composite.

Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders struck it rich in December when class of 2024 five-star OT Jordan Seaton signed his national letter of intent. If Fasusi follows suit later this year, the Buffaloes’ offensive front would be quite impressive come 2025.

Top-ranked 2025 safety Faheem Delane to visit CU Buffs this spring

Another highly-ranked defensive back will be visiting CU this spring

The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders are set to host top-ranked class of 2025 safety Faheem Delane on a recruiting visit this spring, per 247Sports.

The five-star recruit from Olney, Maryland announced an offer from CU on Friday and has another spring visit scheduled with Texas. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Delane is the No. 1 safety in his class and the No. 25 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports composite.

Although Delane has two major recruiting visits coming up, 247Sports recently tabbed him with three crystal ball predictions in favor of Ohio State. Late last year, Delane marked Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee and Virginia Tech as his top five schools.

Here’s what 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote on Delane, who’s currently a junior at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School:

An aggressive back-seven defender that can cover the pass, defend the run, and get home on the blitz. Owns a college-ready frame having measured roughly 6-foot-2.5, 200 pounds summer before junior season. Quick to trigger and tends to play with tons of confidence. Has been utilized primarily as a box safety and a slot corner at the prep level and found plenty of success in both roles.

Colorado is also set to host 2025 four-star cornerback Rukeem Stroud this spring.
