Four-star OL Chauncey Gooden schedules official visit to Colorado

Four-star offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden will check out Colorado this summer

Attempting to add more future talent, the Colorado Buffaloes will welcome class of 2025 offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden to Boulder for an official visit from June 21-23.

Gooden is a four-star recruit and the No. 19 OL in his class, per the 247Sports composite. At 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, he has been a talented member of Lipscomb Academy’s (Tennessee) offensive line.

Colorado made Gooden’s top 10 schools in December, but 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong dropped a crystal ball prediction in January that Gooden would commit to the Clemson Tigers. Gooden will officially visit Clemson on May 31, three weeks before his scheduled visit to CU.

Five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis is also set to visit Boulder during that same June weekend, setting an important recruiting opportunity for the future of head coach Deion Sanders’ program.

Highly-rated QB prospect Julian Lewis schedules summer official visit with Colorado

Colorado will soon host arguably the best QB in the 2025 recruiting class

The Colorado Buffaloes have been linked to current USC Trojans commit and five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis for several months now. The class of 2025 prospect has already visited Boulder twice, with the most recent trip coming in March. On Tuesday, Lewis announced that he has scheduled an official visit to CU for June 21-23.

According to the 247Sports composite, Lewis is ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect and the No. 2 QB in his 2025 class. If the Buffs can land Lewis, he would represent a significant recruiting coup and a clear path for the future at the position once Sheduer Sanders moves on to the NFL.

Lewis announced his commitment to USC last August but has kept Colorado in mind. Eagle-eyed Buffaloes fans noticed Lewis rocking a Buffaloes towel in April at the Rivals Camp Series in Atlanta.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Lewis displays all the necessary tools to be an elite QB at the college level.

Here’s what 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote on Lewis:

A de facto point guard on the gridiron that can distribute the football like few others. Won’t blow many away with his build, but makes up for his subpar measurables with his ability to scan the field and manipulate defenses with his eyes. Compact release allows him to rip tight, accurate spirals to all different levels. Might not have a true cannon, but will drop balls over coverage well into the deeper third. Has proven to be a crafty mover both in and outside of the pocket and will extend plays like a true escape artist.

IMG Academy DB places Colorado in top six schools

Colorado is in the running for a three-star defensive back out of IMG Academy

After taking an unofficial visit to Boulder earlier this spring, class of 2025 IMG Academy defensive back Major Preston Jr. placed Colorado among his final six schools on Saturday.

Colorado joined Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Florida, Ole Miss, and Missouri as Preston’s top options. He currently has official visits set with Florida (June 7), Ole Miss (June 14) and Virginia Tech (June 21). Preston plans on announcing his commitment on July 1, per On3.

The 6-foot-2 prospect played cornerback and safety for IMG Academy this past season as a junior, having transferred as a two-way player from Hopewell High School in Virginia. Preston is currently ranked as a three-star cornerback by the 247Sports composite, though his rankings vary between outlets based on whether or not they consider him a safety or a cornerback.

CU football head coach Deion Sanders has thrived in recruiting prospects from the hotbed that is IMG Academy, so Preston could certainly be next in line.

Colorado football offers 2025 Texas cornerback Caleb Chester

Colorado is looking at a three-star cornerback from Texas

The Colorado Buffaloes recently secured three class of 2025 commitments, but the coaching staff is hard at work finding additional pieces, which means heading to talent-rich states such as Texas.

Class of 2025 cornerback Caleb Chester announced Tuesday that he has received an offer from the Buffs. A native of Missouri City, Texas, Chester is listed as a three-star recruit (per 247Sports) and has accumulated an impressive list of offers and visits. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound CB has been offered by Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, LSU and several other Power Four programs.

The Buffs’ main recruiting tool for defensive backs will always be the allure of playing for head coach Deion Sanders. We’ll see if that can help Colorado bring Chester to Boulder for an official visit.

Colorado offers prominent Penn State commit Kiandrea Barker

Colorado is looking to flip a noteworthy Penn State commit

Colorado football’s coaching staff, led by Deion Sanders, is back on the recruiting trail looking to upgrade the Buffs’ roster for years to come. Over this past weekend, class of 2025 four-star running back (per 247Sports) Kiandrea Barker announced on X that he received an offer from the Buffaloes.

Barker committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions on April 16 but also holds offers from other top college football programs, including Auburn, Wisconsin, Florida State and USC. Colorado would do well to get Barker in Boulder for a visit.

Listed at 5-foot-11, 183 pounds on his 247Sports profile, Barker recently transferred from The Woodlands High School in Texas to Florida’s Miami Central High School. He has good power for his size and has shown an ability to break away from arm tackles before displaying plus speed in the second level.

Class of 2025 Georgia LB Mantrez Walker commits to CU Buffs

Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class picked up a four-star linebacker

This year’s Black and Gold Weekend presents the Colorado Buffaloes with an opportunity to showcase live football at Folsom Field while making some recruiting noise. The Buffs continued their commitment hot streak on Saturday as class of 2025 four-star linebacker Mantrez Walker announced his pledge.

Walker, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect from Buford, Georgia, announced his decision on social media right as CU’s spring football game kicked off.

According to Rivals, Walker received other offers from notable programs such as Florida, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State. Walker will likely factor in as an inside linebacker at the college level, but he showcased the ability to rush the passer in his high school highlight film. He also has excellent awareness when playing the run and attacks downhill after diagnosing the play.

Walker joins tight end Corbin Laisure and defensive back Alex Graham as 2025 recruits who’ve committed to CU.

Colorado earns commitment from three-star tight end Corbin Laisure

Tennessee TE Corbin Laisure gave his pledge to the Buffs

Early Saturday morning, three-star tight end Corbin Laisure became Colorado football’s second class of 2025 commitment in as many days.

Laisure, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect from Tennessee, picked up an offer from the Buffs in early January and is currently in Boulder for CU’s spring game. The 247Sports composite ranks Laisure as the No. 54 TE in his class and the No. 31 prospect in Tennessee.

According to his MaxPreps profile, Laisure had 774 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season as a junior at Sullivan East High School.

Only hours before, four-star defensive back Alex Graham gave his commitment to Colorado on Friday evening. The Buffs’ two-person 2025 class now ranks No. 13 in the 16-team Big 12 Conference.

Colorado’s tight ends room, led by position coach Brett Bartolone, is both thin and inexperienced following the departure of Chamon Metayer. Sav’ell Smalls, Anthony Posadas, Morgan Pearson, Brady Kopetz and Louis Passarello are listed as tight ends on the Buffs’ spring game roster.

Transfers Sam Hart (Ohio State) and Charlie Williams (UNLV) are expected to join CU this summer.

Four-star defensive back Alex Graham commits to Colorado

Coach Prime has earned another commitment from an IMG Academy standout

The IMG Academy to Colorado pipeline is open, as the Buffs earned another commitment from the prestigious sports boarding school on Friday.

Rated as a four-star prospect (247Sports composite), defensive back Alex Graham has joined Colorado football’s 2025 recruiting class. The Detroit native checks in at 6-foot-1, 186 pounds.

Current Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton also played high school football at IMG Academy.

Spending time at both cornerback and wide receiver at IMG, Graham is willing to come up and play the run and isn’t afraid to throw his weight around when meeting ball carriers. For those reasons, I wouldn’t be surprised if he converts to safety at the college level.

Graham’s commitment follows a string of Colorado pledges from the transfer portal, including running back Rashad Amos and offensive lineman Wyatt Hummel. It also shows that Coach Prime and his staff are keeping an eye on the program’s future.

Graham is currently Colorado’s only class of 2025 commit.

We’ll likely see additional commitments soon as several talented recruits are visiting Boulder this weekend for Colorado’s spring game.

Top-ranked 2025 defensive lineman Elijah Griffin arranges visit to Colorado

The top-ranked defensive lineman in the 2025 class will visit Colorado this month

Elijah Griffin, widely regarded as the best defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class, has scheduled an April visit to Colorado, according to Anna Adams of 247Sports.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Georgia native is the top-ranked DL in his class and the No. 4 overall prospect, per the 247Sports composite. Adams also reported that Griffin will visit the Big Ten-bound Oregon Ducks in addition to Colorado later this month.

While CU and Oregon each have an upcoming opportunity to wow the five-star recruit, Griffin is currently favored to land with his home state Georgia Bulldogs. Three different 247Sports analysts have recently given Griffin a crystal ball projection to play for Kirby Smart in Athens.

Griffin, who received an offer from the Buffs in January last year, named Colorado, Oregon and Georgia to his top 12 schools in March. Other contenders include Miami, Louisville, Florida, Clemson, LSU, South Carolina, USC, Duke and Alabama.

Florida State commit Javion Hilson to check out Colorado during spring game

Four-star Florida State commit Javion Hilson will be in Boulder for CU’s spring game

Four-star Florida State commit Javion Hilson announced Wednesday that he’ll be in Boulder for Colorado’s 2024 spring football game on April 27.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Florida native is the class of 2025’s top-ranked edge rusher, according to the 247Sports composite. He flipped his college commitment from Alabama to Florida State on Jan. 16 before picking up an offer from CU head coach Deion Sanders later that same month.

Hilson put up some impressive numbers during his junior season at Cocoa High School, including 94 total tackles, 27 TFLs, 14 sacks and 44 quarterback hurries. The year prior, he recorded 9.0 TFLs and 9.5 sacks as a sophomore.

Here’s what 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote on Hilson:

Intriguing edge prospect who looks to have plenty of growth potential. Appears to be able to eventually carry 265 or so. Can play a bit rigid at times, but covers a ton of ground and builds up plenty of momentum as he works his way into the backfield. Naturally upright, but can change directions. View as more of a run defender than a pass rusher long-term, but production shows versatility and all-situations competency.

Ivins added that Hilson could develop into an NFL draft-worthy player.

Fellow class of 2025 four-star Florida edge rusher Jesse Harold also announced Wednesday that he’ll be at CU on April 25.
