Florida State commit Javion Hilson to check out Colorado during spring game

Four-star Florida State commit Javion Hilson will be in Boulder for CU’s spring game

Four-star Florida State commit Javion Hilson announced Wednesday that he’ll be in Boulder for Colorado’s 2024 spring football game on April 27.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Florida native is the class of 2025’s top-ranked edge rusher, according to the 247Sports composite. He flipped his college commitment from Alabama to Florida State on Jan. 16 before picking up an offer from CU head coach Deion Sanders later that same month.

Hilson put up some impressive numbers during his junior season at Cocoa High School, including 94 total tackles, 27 TFLs, 14 sacks and 44 quarterback hurries. The year prior, he recorded 9.0 TFLs and 9.5 sacks as a sophomore.

Here’s what 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote on Hilson:

Intriguing edge prospect who looks to have plenty of growth potential. Appears to be able to eventually carry 265 or so. Can play a bit rigid at times, but covers a ton of ground and builds up plenty of momentum as he works his way into the backfield. Naturally upright, but can change directions. View as more of a run defender than a pass rusher long-term, but production shows versatility and all-situations competency.

Ivins added that Hilson could develop into an NFL draft-worthy player.

Fellow class of 2025 four-star Florida edge rusher Jesse Harold also announced Wednesday that he’ll be at CU on April 25.
