Colorado target three-star OT Jay Gardenhire sets commitment date

Colorado target Jay Gardenhire revealed the day he’ll announce his commitment

Amid a massive recruiting weekend in Boulder, the Colorado Buffaloes learned they could soon receive a big commitment to their future offensive line.

After announcing an offer from the Buffs on Monday, class of 2025 offensive tackle Jay Gardenhire revealed Friday that he plans on announcing his college commitment on Wednesday, June 26 at 3 p.m. MT.

The Buffs should be in good shape, as Gardenhire met with offensive line coach Phil Loadholt earlier this month on an unofficial visit before receiving an offer. Other Power Four programs to offer the Michigan prospect include Pittsburgh and Boston College.

Gardenhire, a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, is a giant human, standing at 6-foot-8 and 350 pounds. Since the arrival of Loadholt, it’s clear that Colorado is recruiting bigger OL prospects, and Gardenhire would undoubtedly fit that trend.

Gardenhire plans on announcing his commitment on X and Instagram.

Top-ranked 2025 linebacker Ty Jackson secures offer from Colorado

Another highly-recruited 2025 prospect picked up an offer from Colorado

Ty Jackson, the top-ranked linebacker in his 2025 recruiting class (per On3), announced an offer from Colorado football late Thursday evening.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Jackson is an incoming senior at Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee, Florida. He finished his junior year with 135 total tackles (54 solo), four tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions and four forced fumbles, according to MaxPreps.

While On3 and ESPN consider Jackson the No. 1 LB in his class, Rivals and 247Sports rank him at No. 20. Regardless, Jackson owns an impressive list of Power Four offers.

In February, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that Jackson was down to 10 teams: the Florida State Seminoles, Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas A&M Aggies, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma Sooners, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers and Syracuse Orange.

Jackson tagged CU assistant director of player personnel Devin Rispress in announcing his offer from the Buffs.

Massive offensive tackle Jay Gardenhire picks up Colorado offer

Jay Gardenhire would already be one of Colorado’s largest players

The Colorado Buffaloes don’t offer unranked prospects often. However, they saw a huge opportunity in class of 2025 offensive tackle Jay Gardenhire.

On Monday, Gardenhire took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his Colorado offer, about an hour after four-star class of 2026 tackle Felix Ojo announced his own offer from the Buffs.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and 350 pounds, Gardenhire is at least two inches and 25 pounds heavier than anyone listed on CU’s 2024 spring football roster. As a junior last season, his work in the trenches allowed West Bloomfield (Mich.) High School to a 7-3 record and a third-place finish in its conference.

Gardenhire reportedly took a two-day unofficial visit to Boulder earlier this month and was offered almost a week later by offensive line coach Phil Loadholt and quality control analyst Gunnar White.

He also has offers from Alabama A&M, Boston College, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Marshall and Pittsburgh, per 247Sports.

Colorado target Shed Sarratt Jr. picks South Carolina over Buffs, others

Four-star OT Shedrick Sarratt Jr. picked South Carolina over the Buffs and others

Colorado target Shedrick Sarratt Jr. committed to his home state South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday evening only days after visiting Boulder.

Leading up to his commitment, the class of 2025 four-star offensive lineman was also considering the CU Buffs, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators. Colorado may have been a geographical outlier among Sarratt’s top six schools, but because he visited with CU offensive line coach Phil Loadholt and head coach Deion Sanders in Boulder earlier this month, some optimism was warranted.

Sarratt is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect who represents South Carolina’s fourth class of 2025 four-star commit, according to 247Sports.

Fortunately for Coach Prime and his staff, the Buffs have a massive recruiting weekend set for June 21-23. Five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis, four-star offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden, and 2025 CU commits Mantrez Walker and Corbin Laisure have all planned trips to Boulder.

Colorado showing strong interest toward in-state PG Josiah Sanders

Four-star point guard Josiah Sanders and the Buffs appear to have mutual interest

Longtime Colorado men’s basketball head coach Tad Boyle takes great pride in recruiting nearby talent, and he’s already got his sights set on the state’s top-ranked class of 2025 prospect.

A four-star point guard (per the 247Sports composite) from Colorado Prep in Denver, Josiah Sanders told 247Sports that he has been communicating with CU’s coaching staff on a frequent basis. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound rising senior received an offer from the Buffs in mid-April.

Here’s what Sanders had to say about Colorado:

“What really stands out is my relationship with the coaches,” Sanders told 247Sports. “They’ve done a really good job checking in on me daily and I probably talk to them every day. They’re right down the street so I can stay with my people if I were to go there.”

Other programs in high pursuit of Sanders include the Tennessee Volunteers, Wisconsin Badgers, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and SMU Mustangs.

Sanders told 247Sports that he hopes to visit Colorado and Tennessee soon.

Colorado extends offer to four-star safety Ladarian Clardy

Highly-ranked safety Ladarian Clardy picked up an offer from the Buffs

Ladarian Clardy, one of the highest-ranked safeties in the 2025 recruiting class, announced an offer from the Colorado Buffaloes on Monday.

A consensus four-star prospect, the 6-foot, 175-pound Clardy hails from Pensacola, Florida, and will soon begin his senior season at Escambia High School. The 247Sports composite ranks the Colorado target as the No. 18 safety in his class and the No. 216 overall prospect.

Clardy’s junior year numbers are impressive, to say the least. According to MaxPreps, he racked up 57 total tackles, two TFLs, four interceptions and eight passes defended for the 8-4 Escambia Gators.

Other Power Four programs that have expressed interest in Clardy include the Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, Mississippi State Bulldogs, UCF Knights, Washington Huskies and Ole Miss Rebels.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders currently owns three 2025 commitments: cornerback Alex Graham, linebacker Mantrez Walker and tight end Corbin Laisure.

Loveland standout Zayne DeSouza picks up Colorado offer

Loveland’s own Zayne DeSouza picked up an offer from the Buffs

Rising in-state athlete Zayne DeSouza picked up an offer from Colorado football on Thursday following an impressive showing at the Buffs’ summer elite camp.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Loveland High School standout lists himself as a tight end/defensive end, but it appears likely that his future at the college level lies on the offensive side of the ball. As a junior with the Class 4A Red Wolves last season, he recorded 330 receiving yards and one touchdown in 11 games played.

247Sports tabs DeSouza as a three-star athlete and the No. 8 prospect in the state of Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class.

DeSouza has picked up other Division I offers from Northern Colorado and Washington State.

From what we’ve seen on social media, other Colorado elite camp standouts include 2025 wide receiver Jeremiah Hoffman, 2027 WR/TE Landon Wolny and 2026 defensive back Jack Offerdahl, the younger brother of current Buffs running back Charlie Offerdahl. Wolny, a rising sophomore from Naples, Florida, also picked up an offer from Colorado following the camp.

Speedy in-state wide receiver Jeremiah Hoffman back in Boulder for summer camp

Speedy Severance star Jeremiah Hoffman stood out at a CU summer camp

For at least the third time since head coach Deion Sanders was hired, speedy in-state wide receiver Jeremiah Hoffman was in Boulder checking out the Colorado Buffaloes.

The class of 2025 prospect from Severance High School was in Boulder for last year’s spring game before returning for the Buffs’ home opener against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in September. On Wednesday, Hoffman tweeted that he’ll be back at CU on Thursday for a summer camp.

247Sports tabs Hoffman as a three-star prospect and the ninth-ranked player in the Centennial State’s 2025 recruiting class.

Hoffman’s speed stands out the most when examining his recruiting profile. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he recently ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at a Syracuse football camp.

Hoffman finished his junior season at Severance with 943 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He recorded at least 120 receiving yards in four games as well.

Four-star offensive tackle visits Colorado once more with commitment reveal looming

Four-star offensive tackle Shedrick Sarratt Jr. is a name to watch for Colorado’s next commitment

Set to reveal his college commitment on June 14, four-star offensive tackle Shedrick Sarratt Jr. took another visit to Colorado this past weekend.

Sarratt, a class of 2025 prospect from Gaffney, South Carolina, posted a picture of himself alongside Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and offensive line coach Phil Loadholt, sharing that he had a “great time” in Boulder.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Sarratt checked out the Buffs’ spring game in late April and received an offer that same weekend. On May 24, he announced a top six of Colorado, North Carolina State, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

247Sports ranks Sarratt as the No. 27 offensive tackle in his class and the No. 3 overall prospect in South Carolina.

Here’s what 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks recently wrote on Sarratt:

Burly tackle prospect who could also easily slide to guard. Legit 6-4, 300 with good length. Big base and gets hips involved as a drive blocker. Often overwhelms high school defenders with engagement strength. Capable of winning phone-booth matchups even when combatant initiates contact.

Five-star QB Julian Lewis reaffirms interest in Colorado

Julian Lewis: “Colorado is the biggest name popping right now”

Class of 2025 five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis has seen almost every recruiting tactic in the book from the Colorado football program. Luckily for the Buffaloes, they seem to be working.

Lewis, the No. 2 quarterback in the class of 2025 (247Sports composite), committed to the USC Trojans in August. Yet, his recruiting ventures have continued with the Auburn Tigers, Colorado Buffaloes and Indiana Hoosiers rounding out his top four schools.

In a conversation with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Lewis reaffirmed that the Trojans are still leading the pack. However, Lewis appeared to make CU a close second, saying, “Colorado is the biggest name popping right now.”

Wilfong shared the quote via X, adding that Lewis “loves Boulder.”

The Georgia native has already visited Boulder twice, but he’ll take an official visit to CU from June 21-23 alongside other highly-rated recruits.
