Two wide receiver decommits gives Penn State more options

Could Penn State get a second chance at a couple of wide receiver targets in the Class of 2025?

The conversation about Penn State and their wide receiver situation is not going to end anytime soon as long as there remains major questions surrounding the viability of that room.

Entering the upcoming season, they need established players on the team to step up and prevent what happened last year from occurring again.

Going forward, there will be a lot of attention paid to how the Nittany Lions recruit and develop the position.

With that established, it should come as no surprise that [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and wide receiver coach [autotag]Marques Hagans[/autotag] are targeting multiple top-end recruits in the class of 2025.

As of now, there is only one commit in the class.

It’s still early, but things would become a lot more comfortable if Penn State was able to start landing some of the targets on their board.

There was a positive update for the Nittany Lions as two of their past targets in the class decommitted from schools and have reopened their recruiting process.

Tyler Calvaruso of 247Sports reports [autotag]Adrian Wilson[/autotag] has backed out his Oregon commitment and [autotag]Jayvan Boggs[/autotag] decommitted from Ohio State. The insider said Penn State maintained their relationships with both players even following their original pledges, but locking them into a commitment won’t be easy (subscription required).

Wilson is a 6’0″, 170-pound prospect from the state of Texas who is rated as a four-star and the No. 16 overall wide receiver in the 2025 class. It will be seen if they can get him in for a visit after failing to get him to campus during the fall.

Boggs has a similar profile, listed at 6’0″ tall and 188 pounds. The Florida native is also a four-star in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings and is listed as the No. 24 player at his position.

The Nittany Lions have been going after wide receivers heavily in this cycle and these decommitments give them more options to pursue throughout spring and summer.

4-star WR Adrian Wilson decommits from Oregon in 2025 class

The Oregon Ducks are reportedly losing 4-star WR Adrian Wilson in the class of 2025 after his decommitment.

One of the members of the Oregon Ducks’ 2025 recruiting class is choosing to open up his options going forward, opting to decommit from the Ducks.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, 4-star wide receiver Adrian Wilson will be opening up his recruitment going forward. Wilson had been committed to Oregon since July of last year.

Standing at 6-foot-0, 175 pounds, Wilson was rated by the 247Sports composite as the No. 116 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 15 WR. He was predicted to commit to TCU before choosing to join Dan Lanning and Junior Adams a year ago. We will see which schools he prioritizes going forward, and if the Ducks work to try and get him back in the fold as well.

Wilson was not the only WR commit in Oregon’s class, with 5-star WR Dallas Wilson still acting as the top-ranked commitment in the cycle for the Ducks. Wilson stands at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports composite as the No. 22 player in the nation, and the No. 5 WR.

The Ducks also have commitments from QB Akili Smith Jr. and IOL Chavez Thompson on the offensive side of the ball in 2025.

Two more 2025 4-Star wide receivers will make their way to College Station for Texas A&M’s junior day

2025 4-star wide receivers Adrian Wilson and Taz Williams wil reportedly make their way to College Station this weekend for junior day.

This weekend, Texas A&M and new head coach Mike Elko will host a long and talented list of 2025 prospects during the Aggies’ annual junior day, looking to solidify relationships ahead of the usual visiting blitz coming this summer.

According to Rivals’ Landyn Rosow, four-star wide receivers Adrian Wilson and Taz Williams will join the likes of 2025 wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, linebacker Kelvion Riggins, offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, and defensive lineman Xavier Ukponu during Saturday’s festivities, while Wilson remains the only player currently committed to a program (Oregon).

Seeing the noticeable trend, Elko and his staff know that adding offensive playmakers could inject a considerable momentum boost over the next six months, as we’ve already seen through the transfer portal after landing former Purdue Edge and 2023 Big Ten sack leader Nic Scourton to the mix next season.

Adrian Wilson, who is the 53rd-ranked player in the cycle (Rivals), recorded 60 receptions for 1,003 yards and 14 touchdowns during his 2023 junior campaign, while Taz Williams, ranked as the 114th-ranked player in the class (Rivals), hauled in 80 receptions, 1,251 yards and 14 scores through the air last season.

15 possible candidates to replace former Panthers GM Scott Fitterer

Who’s next in line to lead the Panthers’ front office? Here are 15 candidates that could replace Scott Fitterer.

The Carolina Panthers didn’t wait long to make a move after wrapping up the worst record in the history of a 17-game season.

On Monday, the team announced they have parted ways with general manager Scott Fitterer. The decision puts an end to a bumpy three-year run, one that resulted in an overall 14-37 record.

So, who’s next for owner David Tepper?

Here are 15 possible candidates for Carolina’s new opening:

Ducks off to blazing start in 2025, among top-ranked schools in national rankings

In the past few days, Oregon has added a pair of elite players in the 2025 class. They now rank as one of the best teams in the cycle.

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are working hard to land one of the top-rated recruiting classes in the 2024 class and one of the best blue-chip ratios in the Pac-12 Conference. They have a top 15 class at the moment.

That hasn’t stopped them from getting off to a blazing hot start on the 2025 class, for which they’ve already picked up a handful of blue-chip players and rank among the top schools in the nation.

On Monday, the Ducks landed a commitment from four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr., the son of Oregon legend Akili Smith, a former Pac-10 Player of the Year and the No. 3 pick in the 1999 NFL draft. The Ducks also have commitments from four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson, the No. 24 player in the 2024 class, and four-star WR Adrian Wilson, the No. 163 player in the class.

Earlier in the year, Oregon also grabbed a commitment from three-star interior offensive lineman Sandman Thompson.

So with four commitments already in 2025, where do the Ducks stand in the national rankings? Let’s take a look:

Ducks flip 2025 4-star WR Adrian Wilson after SNL visit

Ducks flip 2025 4-star WR Adrian Wilson after SNL visit

The Oregon Ducks made a strong impression on 2025 four-star wide receiver Adrian Wilson Saturday at the Saturday Night Live camp in Eugene, getting him to flip his commitment from the TCU Horned Frogs.

Wilson announced on Saturday night that he was “flocked in” with the Ducks and would join them.

Wilson is the No. 85 player and the No. 14  WR in the 2025 class on the 247Sports composite. He is the third member of Oregon’s 2025 class, joining four-star WR Dallas Wilson and three-star OL Sandman Thompson.

Oregon’s 2025 WR room is looking incredibly strong early; Wilson is rated as the No. 24 overall and No. 5 at the position.

We will see if any more commitments come out of Saturday night, but at the moment, it looks like the early returns from the camp were great.

2025 5-Star TE Davon Mitchell sets commitment date

One of the top players in the 2025 class, Davon Mitchell, sets commitment date.

The Oklahoma Sooners are just over a month away from finding out about one of their top targets in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Five-star tight end Davon Mitchell announced via Twitter that he’ll be committing on July 8.

Mitchell is currently ranked as a top 50 player across the board, and 247Sports sees him as a top 20 player in the 2025 class. He’s the No. 1 tight end in the cycle and ranks as the No. 2 player in the state of California.

Davon Mitchell transferred to Los Alamitos High School after starting his high school career at Allen High School, the same place Michael Hawkins first started on varsity.

In addition to the Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, and Texas are in the running for the elite tight-end prospect.

The Sooners are already off to a strong start in the 2025 recruiting class with commitments from four-star quarterback [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] and four-star wide receiver [autotag]Gracen Harris[/autotag]. They’re also making positive headway in their recruitment of four-star wide receiver [autotag]Adrian Wilson[/autotag].

Mitchell is an athletic tight end that can make plays in the passing game and move the needle as a run blocker as well. His athleticism really shows up in the red zone, where he can get above the rim and high point the football and also has the size to box out defenders as well.

A commitment from Mitchell would give the Sooners their highest-rated tight end prospect in the 247Sports database. All eyes will be tuned in on July 8 to see which team Mitchell pledges to play for.

Another prediction favors the Sooners for 2025 4-Star WR Adrian Wilson

2025 wide receiver Adrian Wilson picks up another prediction to Oklahoma. That’s now four predictions favoring the Sooners.

The Sooners look like the favorite to land 2025 wide receiver [autotag]Adrian Wilson[/autotag]. After spending time with the Sooners a few days ago, a trio of projections favored the Sooners.

On Monday, Josh McCuiston of SoonerScoop at On3 joined the fray predicting Wilson to land with the Sooners. McCuiston joins Mike Roach of 247Sports and Brandon Drumm and Parker Thune of OUInsider at Rivals in predicting Wilson to the Sooners.

Wilson is a wide receiver out of Pflugerville, Texas, He’s 6-foot-2 and weighs 170 pounds. Wilson, a four-star prospect, is considered a top 200 player in the class and a top 30 wide receiver in the country. On3 ranks him as the No. 5 player in the state of Texas.

Here’s what Sooners Wire Managing Editor John Williams had to say about the four-star prospect.

Adrian Wilson displays great hands and body control in 50-50 situations. He does a great job attacking the ball in the air and fighting through the defender on deep balls. He uses good route running to manipulate defenders and create separation and displays good burst after the catch. – Williams, Sooners Wire

He has 19 scholarship offers, and that number is only going to go up. 15 of those offers are also from Power Five schools.

The Sooners already have one wide receiver committed in the 2025 recruiting cycle in Gracen Harris. If these projections hold up, it looks as if Oklahoma will have at least one more standout wide receiver to pair with him in Adrian Wilson.

Trio of predictions favor Oklahoma for 2025 4-Star WR Adrian Wilson

After spending time with the Oklahoma Sooners the first week of June, 2025 four-star WR Adrian Wilson is now projected to land with OU.

June recruiting is getting started with a bang as the Oklahoma Sooners played host to a number of prospects.

One of those prospects wat 2025 four-star wide receiver Adrian Wilson. Wilson, who received his Oklahoma offer back in May was making an unofficial visit with the Sooners on June 2. According to his Twitter account, Wilson then made the trip to Austin to visit the Longhorns.

Well, the weekend appears to have gone swimmingly for Oklahoma. Sunday evening, three predictions from two different recruiting services projected Adrian Wilson to the Sooners.

Mike Roach of 247Sports and Brandon Drumm and Parker Thune of OUInsider at Rivals each issued recruiting predictions favoring the Sooners.

Wilson has 14 Power Five offers to date and, at the moment, is considered one of the best prospects in the country in the [autotag]2025 recruiting cycle[/autotag]. Adrian Wilson is a top 200 prospect across the board, and ranks No. 36 overall according to On3 Recruiting.

He’s a top 30 wide receiver in the class and a top 40 player in the state of Texas across the board.

Adrian Wilson displays great hands and body control in 50-50 situations. He does a great job attacking the ball in the air and fighting through the defender on deep balls. He uses good route running to manipulate defenders and create separation and displays good burst after the catch.

Wilson’s size will make him an impact player on the outside, and his ability to win in the deep passing game will be highly coveted across the country.

Adrian Wilson’s Recruiting Profile

Projections

  • Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm of OUInsider both issued a Rivals FutureCast favoring the Sooners on Sunday night.

Texas A&M offers 2025 4-Star WR Adrian Wilson

Texas A&M has fielded an offer to one of the rising prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle, 4-Star wide receiver Adrian Wilson

Texas A&M lost its preseason-darling status until further notice after their performance during the 2022 season, as the Aggies memorably went 5-7 and 2-6 in the SEC while missing out on bowl eligibility for the first time in 14 seasons. Not to rehash the obvious, but head coach Jimbo Fisher’s future with the program is tied to wins and losses and how consistently the former ace recruiter builds future recruiting classes.

While the focus may be on 2024, the 2025 recruiting cycle isn’t short of talent or potential, and one position, wide receiver, has begun to stand out more than most recently. Already preparing for the future at the position with the recent 2023 signings of four-star wideouts Micah Tease and Raymond Cottrell, Fisher, and his staff are looking to further build on a unit that will most likely experience attrition in the next couple of seasons.

On Monday, the Aggies officially offered rising 2025 four-star WR Adrian Wilson out of Pflugerville, Texas, currently ranked 22nd wide receiver and the 18th-ranked player in Texas, according to 247Sports. During his 2022 junior season at Weiss High School, Wilson recorded 29 receptions for 543 yards and eight touchdowns. Listed at 6-2 and 165 pounds, the incoming junior is a vertical threat with well-noted versatility, lining up in the slot and outside, and is a nightmare for defenders in the open field.

Texas A&M will have plenty of time to set up future campus visits, but offering Adrian Wilson ahead of a huge summer recruiting push for their budding relationship is a fantastic start.
