Wisconsin receives crystal ball to land former Purdue class of 2025 DL commit

Wisconsin receives crystal ball to land former Purdue class of 2025 DL commit

This story was updated to add new information.

Wisconsin is currently projected to land a commitment from class of 2025 defensive tackle Drayden Pavey, according to both 247Sports and On3.

The Badgers received two 247Sports crystal balls and an On3 prediction to land the three-star defensive tackle over the weekend. The updates come after Pavey announced his decommitment from Purdue on Saturday.

Pavey initially chose the Boilermakers in early July over other finalists Wisconsin and Indiana. He becomes the fourth player to decommit from the program since the start of the 2024 season — a time during which Purdue is 1-6 and 0-4 in Big Ten Play.

247Sports currently ranks the three-star defensive tackle as the No. 724 overall player in the class of 2024, the No. 80 player at his position and the No. 28 recruit from his home state of Ohio.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 28 in the nation with 23 players committed. The potential addition of Pavey could push the group toward the nation’s top 25.

Three-stars Torin Pettaway, Wilnerson Telemaque and Xavier Ukponu are currently the defensive linemen committed to the group. The position was properly addressed after it was a clear need for the program entering the cycle.

We now await any updates on where Pavey lands. If it’s Wisconsin, that marks just another recruiting win for Luke Fickell in a year full of them.

UPDATE (9:13 a.m.): Wisconsin officially landed a commitment from Pavey.

Wisconsin predicted to lose top 2025 WR target Muizz Tounkara to Arizona

Wisconsin predicted to lose top 2025 WR target Muizz Tounkara to Arizona

Wisconsin top class of 2025 target Muizz Tounkara will announce his commitment later today (Saturday, July 13). He will choose from one of three finalists: Wisconsin, Kansas and Arizona.

The Badgers were originally predicted to land the three-star wide receiver dating back to mid-May. That is no longer the case, as 247Sports Wisconsin insiders Evan Flood and Nick Osen both submitted recent crystal ball predictions for Tounkara to choose Arizona.

The Texas native is ranked as 247Sports’ No. 764 player in the class of 2025, No. 118 wide receiver and No. 127 player from his home state. His top three of Wisconsin, Arizona and Kansas was chosen out of an offer sheet that also includes Arkansas, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Utah

He is currently projected to join an Arizona class of 2025 that currently ranks No. 48 in the nation with 19 players committed. The Wildcats are in the midst of a transition to the Big 12 along with former Pac-12 powers Arizona State, Utah and Colorado.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 has fallen to No. 22 in the nation and No. 7 in the Big Ten after not adding a commitment since top iOL Hardy Watts on July 1. The program remains in the pursuit of remaining top targets four-star DL Kade Pietrzak and four-star RB Byron Louis.

It will need another few commitments before the cycle concludes if it is to return toward the top of the Big Ten.

Wisconsin football trending toward landing top 2025 iOL Hardy Watts

Wisconsin football trending toward landing top 2025 iOL Hardy Watts

Wisconsin football is trending toward landing four-star class of 2025 interior offensive lineman Hardy Watts, as five last-minute 247Sports crystal ball predictions were logged on Saturday for him to choose the Badgers.

Those predictions come from 247Sports Wisconsin insiders Evan Flood and Nick Osen, Michigan insiders Steve Lorenz and Sam Webb, and national analyst Brian Dohn. They are posted just two days before Watts is scheduled to announce his commitment (Monday, July 1) to either Wisconsin, Michigan, or Clemson.

This significant last-minute shift in the top lineman’s recruitment comes after nearly every insider had recently predicted Michigan as his destination.

Watts is currently ranked by 247Sports as the No. 218 player in the class of 2025, No. 12 interior offensive lineman and No. 1 recruit from the state of Massachusetts.

Wisconsin potentially winning this down-to-the-wire recruiting battle is significant news after the four-star lineman recently visited Michigan on June 21. His visit to the Badgers was back on May 31. It is often the case that the program with the last visit lands a player’s commitment. That is trending toward not being the case in this scenario.

Watts’ would be a signature addition to a Wisconsin class of 2025 that currently ranks No. 16 in the nation and No. 6 in the new Big Ten. Notably, it would propel the class ahead of Michigan (No. 15 overall, No. 5 Big Ten) — the program the Badgers are currently battling for Watts’ commitment.

The top-ranked lineman is one of several of Wisconsin’s top targets who remain uncommitted. The Badgers making a late push in the cycle could begin with Watt’s commitment on Monday.

Florida earns 247Sports crystal ball pick for this top-50 recruit

Florida is picking up steam in the recruitment of four-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III as official visits wrap up for the summer.

Third-generation legacy recruit [autotag]Vernell Brown III[/autotag] has always been linked with Florida, but now experts believe the Gators are the favorites to land the four-star Jones High (Orlando) wide receiver down the stretch.

Blake Alderman of 247Sports submitted a crystal ball pick for Brown in favor of Florida on Sunday with a confidence level of six. National recruiting analyst Tom Loy and former director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong dropped crystal balls in favor of Ohio State, but Florida has done a lot of work since then.

“Florida has been the common denominator recruitment by people I’ve spoken to,” Alderman said. “Florida State has tightened this race up some coming out of his official visit, but I have not heard of this recruitment shifting their way at this point. … Right now, I view the Gators as the team to beat.”

Noles247 contributor was the first to pick Florida for Brown on Thursday, three days before Alderman. The Buckeyes still hold 66.7% of the prediction, but the number is skewed because of Loy’s “Lead Expert” status. Prominence matters less than recency in this instance.

On3’s Keith Niebuhr submitted a new RPM pick in favor of Florida at the same time as 247Sports’ crystal ball announcement.

Not just a legacy recruit

Brown’s decision has very little to do with his family history. He downplayed the connection at times and seemed intent on making his own name, which is common for legacy prospects. Alderman says that the Gators are pushing the right buttons here, “recruiting him for his own abilities and not the family ties.”

“Florida’s confidence has been very high as the month of June has started to wrap up. Brown is comfortable with the program, and likes the plan they have for him as a staff. UF seems to have done a good job of tying his family history with his own track of development.”

There’s no guarantee that Brown will end up committing to Florida, but he’s wrapped up his official visits and the experts are leaning that way. A commitment could come by the end of the summer. Most of the top players in the class like to have a decision made before the start of their senior year.

Recruiting Summary

Brown is a consensus four-star recruit who is likely to earn fifth star with most outlets. He is ranked No. 35 nationally and  No. 6 among wide receivers in the 2025 class, according to the On3 industry ranking. The 247Sports composite has him at Nos. 39 and 6, respectively.

Unlike the 247Sports’ prediction model, the On3 recruiting prediction machine strongly favors the Gators with a 77.5% chance of earning his commitment, followed by the Buckeyes (19.5%) and Miami Hurricanes (1.3%).

Wisconsin top 2025 RB target Byron Louis receives crystal ball to an ACC power

Wisconsin top 2025 RB target Byron Louis receives crystal ball to an ACC power

Wisconsin top class of 2025 running back target Byron Louis received a 247Sports crystal ball prediction to choose ACC power Florida State on Sunday.

The Badgers, Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes are the perceived contenders to land the four-star running back, though his full list of finalists also includes Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, USC and Oklahoma. His busy month of June has included visits to Miami (May 31), Wisconsin (June 7), Georgia (June 14) and most recently Florida State (June 21).

Louis is 247Sports’ No. 212 player in the class of 2025, No. 14 running back and No. 30 recruit from his home state of Florida. He is by far Wisconsin’s highest-ranked running back target in the class, and the last significant one remaining on the board after John Forster committed to Rutgers.

The crystal ball for him to choose Florida State was given by Noles247 contributor Zach Blostein with a ‘medium confidence level.’

While the Seminoles appear to be the favorites to land Louis fresh off his official visit to the program, the Badgers may still have a late chance.

The top-ranked running back would be an important addition to a Wisconsin class of 2025 that already ranks No. 12 in 247Sports’ national rankings and No. 4 in the new Big Ten. The group recently added its 21st commitment in with the addition of three-star edge rusher Nicolas Clayton.

Luke Fickell’s program has received 10 commitments since the start of June. It’s important that hot streak continues with the potential commitments from Louis and top interior offensive lineman Hardy Watts.

Wisconsin top 2025 target Hardy Watts receives crystal ball to a Big Ten rival

Wisconsin top 2025 target Hardy Watts receives crystal ball to a Big Ten rival

Wisconsin top class of 2025 target offensive lineman Hardy Watts recently received a 247Sports crystal ball prediction to choose Big Ten rival Michigan.

The Badgers, Wolverines and Clemson Tigers round out his final three schools with a decision reportedly imminent. The four-star interior offensive lineman took official visits to Clemson on June 2, Wisconsin on June 7 and Michigan on June 21.

Related: Big Ten Football Power Index Rankings for 2024: Which teams are underrated, overrated?

Watts is 247Sports’ No. 217 player in the class of 2025, No. 12 interior offensive lineman and No. 1 recruit from his home state of Massachusetts. He is by far the Badgers’ highest-ranked target left on the board at this stage of the recruiting cycle.

The crystal ball for him to choose Michigan was given by Michigan insider Steve Lorenz with a ‘high confidence level.’ It should be noted that Watts previously received a prediction from Clemson insider Austin Hannon on June 12 to choose the Tigers, though that was given with a ‘medium confidence level.’

Either way, Wisconsin appears to be a distant third choice of Watts’ final three schools.

The top-ranked lineman would be a statement addition to a Wisconsin class of 2025 that currently ranks No. 12 in 247Sports’ national rankings and No. 4 in the new Big Ten. The Badgers recently added their 21st commitment in the class with the addition of three-star edge rusher Nicolas Clayton.

Luke Fickell’s program has received 10 commitments since the start of June. That hot streak would reach an entirely new level if the program somehow beats Michigan and Clemson for Watts’ commitment.

Florida earns 247Sports crystal ball for coveted in-state wide receiver

The Gators appear to be peaking at the right time for this coveted 3-star pass-catcher out of Jacksonville.

A pair of crystal ball predictions were logged by 247Sport’s Blake Alderman on Tuesday morning, including three-star wide receiver Tae’shaun Gelsey out of Jacksonville (Florida) Riverside in the 2025 cycle.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound pass-catcher who projects more at the tight end position than as a wideout received a scholarship offer from the Gators in mid-May followed by an official visit with the program the weekend of May 31.

Florida had Gelsey in their sights long before the offer and OV.

“The offer just came, but they’ve always been recruiting me,” he said after receiving his offer. “So they aren’t new to me. I have a good relationship with them. Once they did offer, it was the icing on the cake. I feel like things are set now with them and they aren’t new. I just have the offer now, so they are bigger in the discussion right now.”

Gelsey previously had trips to see the Tulane Green Wave as well as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on his official visit slate, but those plans fell through. He had hinted at a commitment around July 13 but there have been rumors of an earlier decision date once his OV schedule concludes.

Recruiting Summary

Gelsey is ranked No. 464 overall and No. 73 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 671 and 41, respectively.

On3’s recruiting prediction machine overwhelmingly favors Florida for the Sunshine State product, giving them a 97.4% chance of landing him; Tulane is the only other school mentioned at 2.0%.

Gators earn crystal ball prediction for blue-chip South Florida WR

4-star wide receiver out of Miami gets a crystal ball pick for Florida, giving the Gators a major edge on the competition.

Billy Napier and his army of staffers have been hard at work this month hosting high school recruits from the 2025 cycle for their official visits. All of their efforts have not been for naught as the program earned a pair of crystal ball predictions from 247Sports on Tuesday.

Four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery out of Miami (Florida) Central was one of Blake Alderman’s picks in favor of Florida. According to Alderman, the rising high school senior has not announced a timeline for his final decision but expects to make a choice before his final prep season begins.

As for Montgomery’s feelings toward the Orange and Blue, things are looking really good entering the summer.

“I’m a priority for them and I can definitely be a game-changer as a freshman and work with DJ Lagway,” Montgomery told On3’s Chad Simmons after his OV. “They’ve always been high, but it definitely put them up another notch.”

Remaining official visit schedule

Montgomery’s remaining official visit schedule wraps up with the Penn State Nittany Lions the weekend of June 21. He is coming off an OV with the LSU Tigers last weekend and Florida on the final weekend of May.

The Alabama Crimson Tide were still reported to be in the mix but nothing official has been set.

Recruiting Summary

Montgomery is ranked No. 172 overall and No. 19 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 243 and 35, respectively.

The Nittany Lions also hold a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports but trails Florida in On3’s RPM, which gives the Gators a 76.4% chance of signing him. The Miami Hurricanes (6.6%), Penn State (4.7%) and LSU (3.2%) lag far behind for the Sunshine State product.

Gators hoops get crystal ball pick for legacy 2025 recruit

The son of a former Gators two-standout is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Florida basketball hosted guard [autotag]CJ Ingram[/autotag] — a UF legacy through his father, [autotag]Cornelius Ingram[/autotag] — on an official visit this past week in what turned out to be a successful effort for Todd Golden and the Gators.

Following the latest stop in Gainesville, 247Sports’ Jacob Rudner submitted his publication’s second crystal ball prediction for the rising senior out of Hawthorne (Florida); the first was granted by Blake Alderman for football.

Last season, Ingram averaged 24 points, 8.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game, according to MaxPreps. The year prior, averaged 21.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.1 assists per contest.

As to whether he will try to play both football and basketball like his father or instead focus on one particular sport, Ingram appears to favor the parquet over the gridiron.

“I’m definitely leaning toward basketball now,” he told Pro Insight at the Pangos All-American Camp this month. “I’m pretty much done with football but whatever happens, happens. I’m just trying to enjoy the process while I can.”

Recruiting Summary

Unranked for basketball in the 2025 cycle, Ingram holds two crystal ball predictions for Florida from 247Sports while On3’s recruiting prediction machine gives the Gators a 99.5% chance of signing.

Ingram is ranked three stars by 247Sports and On3 in football, where he is listed as an athlete.

Wisconsin receives crystal ball to land one of 2025’s top linebackers

Wisconsin received two 247Sports crystal ball predictions to land top class of 2025 linebacker Mason Posa on Sunday.

The predictions from Wisconsin insiders Evan Flood and Nick Osen and were given with a ‘medium’ confidence level.

Posa is coming off his official visit to Wisconsin. He was one of the several top 2025 players the Badgers had on campus during the first official visit weekend of the year.

The four-star linebacker is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 154 player in the class of 2025, No. 18 linebacker and No. 1 recruit from his home state of New Mexico.

The Badgers are among his recently-released top three schools along with Oregon and Texas A&M.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 recently took a leap forward after the additions of four-star OT Logan Powell and three-star CB Rukeem Stroud. The group is up to 13 total commitments and ranked No. 15 in the nation by 247Sports.

It appears that ranking is set to rise again in the coming days.
