CR7 Motorsports’ 2023 NASCAR Truck Series season in review

CR7 Motorsports had a down year in the NASCAR Truck Series. Here, you can check out the NASCAR team’s 2023 season in review!

[autotag]CR7 Motorsports[/autotag] entered the 2023 NASCAR Truck Series season with optimism that Colby Howard could elevate the organization to the next level. While Howard ran better than Blaine Perkins in 2022, it wasn’t enough to break the top-20 barrier in the point standings. The driver of the No. 9 truck had one top-5 and top-10 finish as the team made every event.

Perkins failed to make every race in 2022, so there were steps in the right direction. Grant Enfinger and Codie Rohrbaugh competing at a higher level in the past has set expectations for what drivers need to accomplish. In 2023, Howard had a decent building block, but it wasn’t enough to make a return to the No. 9 truck in 2024.

Instead, CR7 Motorsports brought Enfigner on board full-time after he almost won the 2023 Truck Series championship. Enfinger is a perfect fit in the No. 9 truck and should allow the organization to compete for race wins. If the former GMS Racing driver can carry momentum into next year, CR7 Motorsports could be a sleeper team moving forward.

Grant Enfinger to join CR7 Motorsports for 2024 NASCAR Truck Series season

Grant Enfinger will drive the No. 9 truck full-time for CR7 Motorsports during the 2024 NASCAR Truck Series season.

[autotag]CR7 Motorsports[/autotag] announced on Tuesday morning that [autotag]Grant Enfinger[/autotag] will drive full-time for the organization in the No. 9 truck in 2024. This won’t be the first time Enfinger drives for CR7 Motorsports after he drove part-time with the team during the 2021 NASCAR season. The former GMS Racing driver had one top-5 finish and three top-10 finishes in nine starts.

Enfinger made the Championship 4 in GMS Racing’s final NASCAR Truck Series race at Phoenix Raceway and almost won the 2023 series title. Unfortunately for Enfinger, he lost the Truck Series championship after Corey Heim intentionally wrecked fellow Championship 4 competitor Carson Hocevar on purpose with under five laps to go.

Overall, this is a massive addition for CR7 Motorsports, who secures Enfinger’s services on a multi-year contract. As for Enfigner, better options were available on paper, but he decided to go to a place that felt right for him. Enfinger’s future in NASCAR appears to be secured as he chases his first Truck Series title.

Colby Howard won’t return to No. 9 truck for CR7 Motorsports in 2024

Colby Howard won’t return to the No. 9 truck for CR7 Motorsports in the NASCAR Truck Series during the 2024 season.

[autotag]Colby Howard[/autotag] joined [autotag]CR7 Motorsports[/autotag] for a full-time campaign in the NASCAR Truck Series for the 2023 season but it won’t continue moving forward. According to Fronstretch, Howard said he won’t return to the No. 9 truck in 2024. This came during the weekend of the Truck Series finale at Phoenix Raceway.

Howard finished the year with one top-5 finish and one top-10 finish with a 22.4 average finishing position. The driver of the No. 9 truck finished 21st in the point standings, which was the lowest of any full-time competitor that competed in 23 races. Howard had a best finish of fourth place at Daytona in February and never recreated such a result.

Now, CR7 Motorsports will look for a new driver as the 2024 Truck Series season will be around the corner when the new year begins. One driver that would make sense is Grant Enfinger, who won’t return to GMS Racing after the organization ceased operations. Enfinger has driven for CR7 Motorsports in the past and would be a good fit.
