The Coyotes came up short in Sunday’s game at the Vegas Golden Knights, losing 1-0 as G Adin Hill took a hard-luck loss. The Coyotes won three road games in a row from April 2-5, but they have dropped their past three away from home. This will be their eighth consecutive road game.
The Avalanche swept a two-game set on the road against the Anaheim Ducks, and they have won seven of their past eight outings. That includes a 9-3 victory against the Coyotes in the most recent meeting between these teams March 31 in Denver.

Adin Hill (7-7-1, 2.89 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Philipp Grubauer (24-8-1, 2.00 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO)
Hill turned aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced Sunday. He has been doing the heavy lifting with Darcy Kuemper injured and rookie Ivan Prosvetov serving as the backup.
Grubauer leads the NHL in shutouts, and he continues to set a new career-high every time he wins. He has looked Vezina Trophy-like this season, although he was punished by the Minnesota Wild in a pair of games last week while allowing 11 goals on just 43 shots.
Grubauer is 4-1-0 with a 1.98 GAA and .908 SV% in five starts against the Coyotes this season.

Against the spread (ATS)
AVALANCHE -1.5 (-140) is a strong play on home ice against the skidding Coyotes. Arizona also has the tough turnaround after a loss in Vegas Sunday with travel and another marquee opponent less than a day later.
The Coyotes are just 1-8 in their past nine against a team with a winning record.
Over/Under (O/U)
The OVER 6 (+100) is the play at even money.
The Over has cashed in 10 of the last 14 games for the Avs while hitting in nine of the past 12 for the Coyotes. The Over is also 6-1 in Arizona’s past seven as an underdog, and 4-1 in its past five against winning teams.
