LeBron James was offered a Cowboys contract by Jerry Jones in 2011

Back in 2011, the NBA was in the midst of a lockout. The league’s biggest star, LeBron James, didn’t know how long the lockout would last.
Apparently, he actually started implementing football into his training regimen around October or November of that year.
So much so, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered James a contract to play for Dallas. Apparently, the offer was given a lot of thought.
The 6-foot-9 star would’ve made an intriguing option for Tony Romo and the passing game during the early stages of Dez Bryant’s career and the apex of tight end Jason Witten’s.
We really started to actually train to be a football player. We started to clock our times with the 40s. We started to add a little bit more with the bench press and things of that nature. We started to add a little more sled to our agenda with our workouts, Lakers forward LeBron James.
James was a two-time all-state receiver in Ohio, even receiving recruiting interest from Notre Dame. However, he didn’t play his senior year due to a wrist injury

3 key Cowboys staying ready during virtual off season

Members of the current Cowboys roster are finding unique ways to stay ready for season with Gerald McCoy, Tyron Smith and CeeDee Lamb as glowing examples.
A newly signed free agent defensive tackle, McCoy has gone above and beyond to be in the best shape of his playing life.
Star offensive tackle Tyron Smith has taken the same approach when it comes to staying ready for the off-season programs to begin.
Instead of traditional weightlifting he decided to use his son as his weights.
CeeDee Lamb has been avidly working on his route running, agility, and quickness to stay ready before he even steps on the field with his new offense

Cowboys waive Cooper Rush in wake of Dalton signing

In mid-March, the Cowboys tendered Cooper Rush, locking in the three-year veteran as a backup to Dak Prescott.
At last weekend’s draft, Rush learned he would have some competition with the selection of James Madison passer Ben DiNucci.
On Saturday, the team agreed to sign three-time Pro Bowler Andy Dalton, fresh off his release in Cincinnati.
But by lunchtime on Monday, Dalton had put pen to paper… and Rush had found himself out of a job entirely.
Rush saw little action during his three years in Dallas. As a rookie in 2017, his first appearance came in a blowout of the 49ers, going 1-of-2 for two yards, the only completion of his career thus far
